With the shattering of sixteen whole and healthy eggs, the Weyrlings of Rising Hope Group made their arrival at Caufar Weyr, and though one green vanished between, unbonded and unable to find her rider, the younglings of Alorioth's and Sarhauth's clutch have proven to Pern that a woman-ridden brown can sire a viable, normal clutch, with dragonets of bright personality and a fair size. Of course, some of Caufar's newest riders are a bit on the young side, with a good five Turns ahead of them until they join the Weyr's Threadfighting Wings, and they have been joined in their lessons by the Igenian femmebrown trio, but really, is taking time to learn, and gaining an open perspective on life, such a bad thing?
A healthy clutch sired by her dragon, however, has not done enough for Clarra's reputation. Not only is she Caufar's first female brown rider, she is also Pern's first female Weyrleader... and the first pregnant one. An intimate relationship with the Weyr's local Woodsmith, Master Quent, resulted in conception, and despite the objections of Weyrfolk and Holders alike, Clarra, clinging to her Holdbred convictions, has chosen to carry the child to term, though it means she will no longer be able to lead the Wings in 'Fall - one of the primary duties (and certainly the most visible representation) of her authority. Shifting from a position as a merely questionable Weyrleader, to a highly doubtful and unwanted one, will not be an easy road for Clarra to take. How will Sarhauth's rider fare?
Thank Faranth that, where Caufar's Senior leading pair has been placed under near-constant social scrutiny, the Weyr's Junior pair has managed to behave itself... Anodelle's gold Sylfaeth rose hardly a sevenday after the hatching of Alorioth's clutch, snubbing her old mate Quidulceth and choosing for her new consort bronze Neroth, bonded to Wingsecond V'tez. The match seems to be a good one, as far the young queen is concerned, and Anodelle is simply happy that her new working partner is not V'ren. But how will V'tez, uninterested in authority, rise to such an auspicious position? And just why did Anodelle have to make a trip to the Dolphin Hall, followed by a short hop between?
The Junior Weyrwoman, however, does not seem to be the only victim of Sylfaeth's flight lust... Darksea's Lady Holder, Nuriel, on a visit to discuss politics with her barely-acknowledged cousin, Weyrwoman Araceli, was also impacted by the dragon's rampant emotions, and found herself paired off with green rider V'rae. A well-known man-lover, he seemed a most unlikely sire for her Hold's heir, but he did have Holder Blood worth acknowledging... Yet one must pause to wonder, with her Bloodline secured, will Nuriel finally turn her schemes away from Araceli's daughter, Viaeli, and allow Caufar to breathe a sigh of relief? Or will the Darksean Bloodline's reputation for murder prevail, setting Viaeli's parents even more on guard?
Questions, questions, questions... It seems the Weyr is full of them, and with good reason, too. One of the more popular ones lately, has been, "What will be in Sylfaeth's upcoming clutch?"
That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Although the clutch has not yet graced the sands in-game, it has been announced by Staff that there will be a golden queen egg in Sylfaeth's next brood, and as always there is the potential for the Impression of more female brown riders, should a suitable lass or two show up... Opportunities are rich, the plots ripe, and all characters are welcome. This is, after all, Caufar Weyr - where a drudge can become a Harper, a woman can become Weyrleader, and a Hold slattern disowned by her Blood can become Weyrwoman.
