Welcome to the South!
The Southern Weyr is a 9th Pass alternate universe, set just after the events in the White Dragon.
Lessa, F'lar and the other leaders of Pern have perished in a catastrophic asteroid strike. They met their fate before they could venture back into Southern lands to rediscover the truly great piece of technology AIVAS.
D'ram had cultivated the Southern Weyr after being instanted as the Weyrleader. His influence brought dragonrider's to the Weyr, strengthening it and through the good will of G'dened and Corisa, a golden daughter was given up to really restart the Weyr.
With his death at Benden Weyr, a victim of the calamity, the Southern Weyr was left leader-less, with only dying golds and immature bronzes to pave the way for the future.
Fortunately, the gold Egg offered up by the dead Weyrleaders G'dened and Corisa Hatched healthy and Impressed to a young Weyrbred woman from the South.
As thread continued to Fall, the shaken dragonriders of the North suffered heavy casualties. The remaining Weyrs were straining to keep their Weyrs and their Holds protected, with the South helping as much as they could.
It was a grand day when Phaelith of the South Rose to mate. Her sucessful maiden Flight was hampered, however, by the demise of the new Weyrleader, as he was Scored to death.
Now, a grand Clutch of 15 Eggs, including a great gold, is hardening rapidly on the Sands of the Southern Weyr. Will they Hatch before more bad luck befalls Pern? Will they grow to meet Threadfall?
Candidates, dragonriders, and Crafters alike are needed in these dark times. Pern needs champions.
