Nayarath was bored. She was also hungry, and most everyone knew there was no better cure for both of those ailments than to go to the feeding grounds and bother herdbeasts for a while. At some point she would devour a few, but right now she was more concentrated on driving the poor animals insane.
Kora had been dragged along and then dropped off and forgotten on a ledge to watch her dragon. Squeak huddled on her lap, frightened by the noises the frightened animals below were making and not liking the idea of hunting much in the first place. Lilac and Soot played rodeo, clinging to the backs of random beasts and crowing with delight as they were thrown around.
Most everyone knew when Nayarath was hunting.
Maybe someday you could just kill a few and be done with it? Kora sighed and wondered what the Weyr's beastmasters would have to say to her this time.
Nayarath bellowed with laughter. Mine, there would be no fun in that! You need to kill your food sometime.
Kora declined, she was perfectly content eating things already dead and prepared. Nayarath had no clue why Hers could stand that, but was much too busy to worry much more about it.

Gwen made her way around the edge of the feeding grounds. Tyrth was interested in hunting, but the tiny white had not yet really got it off. He crouched at the edge, watching Nayarath play with her food. Or maybe hoping she would drive a beast to exhaustion and *he* could steal it from her. Crouch, wings furled.
Looking between the not full grown white and the full grown gold, Gwen contemplated differences for a moment.
"Sometimes, it's hard to believe they're the same species."
Because, really, different size, different color..they were even somewhat different in build. And now, she wouldn't trade one for the other.

Hansth was at the feeding grounds having deicded to get himself somthing to eat. The biggest differnce was that he had not dragged his rider along with him this time, or should we say his rider had not followed him along this time. T'lat told the bronze he would show up in abit though he should go on ahead and get himself somthing to eat. He moved outthere were he saw his mother was playing with her food, before she planned on eating it. This made a rumble of luagther escape form the bronze, who had just noticed the white who seemed to be waiting to spring on somthing. Hansth walked up behind him and in his best attempt to scare him said Now what do your doing here Tyrth. You trying to steal other peoples food. He playfully nudge the younger dragon form behind. The bronze was small for his color, though Tyrth was small for a dragon, period. So the bronze made sure that his playfull nugde was extra gentle. He looked at the white expectlly waiting for his answer. The bronze had been having a good time recently so he was in a better mood than normal, and any dragon who knew him would notice.

Nayarath paid attention to the White only long enough to give him a look that hopefully got across that she didn't want dragons just watching her. He could join, but not just sit and stare. When a Bronze showed up though, that was a different story.
Now Hansth, don't you go bumping dragons just because they're small. Her tone was joking, she knew the Bronze was a smallish one too, although he was still quite the giant compared to Tyrth. He was a Bronze, and a mature one, and that made the difference to the Gold.
Lilac and Soot were more attentive to the smaller male, giving up on their rodeo game and zooming over to Tyrth, chattering cheerfully. They quite liked this little dragon, he wasn't their size but they figured he was the closest they were about to get from a dragon.
Kora shook her head, smiling, and waved to Gwen. "Maybe Tyrth could give you a ride up here? It's a better view." And safer; who knew where the Gold would chase the herdbeasts next. Nayarath's latest batch of young would be around a Turn now, surely Tyrth could manage a quick flight up to the ledge Nayarath had left Kora on. Maybe Tyrth's size could be better compared to a runnerbeast's than a dragon's right now, but those were ridden too.
Squeak just huddled closer to Kora's stomach, even more nervous now that there were more dragons present. One of his ears flopped partly over his eye and he peeked out from under that at the commotion- Nayarath was by now means letting up even though there were others present- as though it and His would somehow shield him from the danger below.

No, I was hoping to get some tips.
Tyrth then turned and leapt the short distance over to Gwen. Mounting the white was, of course, not hard, nor was staying on him for the brief flight.
The white rider slipped down as the young dragon launched again. If he wasn't allowed to watch, then sure he would join! In fact, he tried a barrel roll, above the gold, before chasing a herdbeast. With no success.
"I swear, Tyrth," Gwen murmured. "If you try and chase a queen, I'll..." She wasn't entirely sure what to threaten her dimunitive dragon with..and the affection in her tone would have made any threat an obvious lie.
She did glance over at Hansth, who was also trying to impress the gold, but that was what bronzes did.

T'lat like normally did seemed to apper out of no where and walked up beside Hansth and patted the bronze on the side. With a soft smile before going over to Kora and Gwen and said " So how are you two doing? Looks like Tyrth is up to his usal antics again." His voice was quite sleeply sounding, as though he had just woken up, but still had a joking tone to it. Hansth wacth the little white with a small rumble of luagther. He repiled to the gold I am not bumping him, I am just playing with him. Unlike the white, he was not trying to impress the gold. So he tried to keep any hint of that out of his voice, or his actions as swooped down to snacth himself up a herdbeast which he began to eat it. He said to the other two dragons in what could be considered a scold You know you two should not play with your food. That is really not the purpose for it. Food is for eating, chewing, swallowing and not chasing all over the field. Be time he had said all this he had finished the herdbeast and snacthed himself up another one. T'lat just shook his head and siad to him self What am I going to do with you silly.

Jorindath had thought about it, and desided while she wasn't ravenously hungry there wasn't any harm in a 'snack'. The couple of ventures down to the beach in the past sevenday had pushed her to eat a little more then normal. Flying and splashing around in the warming sun built an appitite no matter who or what you were. And even if she wasnt hungry, things looked a little exciting around the feeding pens.
Inolyn slid down her dragon's neck, Only one! were her strict orders. It would be Jorindath's sixth kill that sevenday if memory recalled, or was it seventh, and while she was a big dragon over eating always tended to be a big issue. A rumble was all she got in reply as the violet eyed the herds since there would be no second chance. That taken care of, the woman turned to join the other riders.
"Hello everyone!" but for T'lat she gave a small kiss on the cheek. A loud and sudden squeal alerted her that Jorindath had finally chosen and flew up to sit by Hansth to eat. Apart from a bit of extra noise, the hunt had been rather quick. "That's my girl!"

Nayarath rumbled as Tyrth rolled above her. Little White, you'll never be a Bronze. But she didn't mind him pretending. I'm sure you could make chasing these silly animals much more interesting than one of them could though. As she spoke she darted low above one of them, snapping playfully at its tail. The beast squealed and bucked, but only upset the animals around it. Nayarath easily swooped out fo the way of the flailing hooves and heads again.
And then? Nayarath snarled as Hansth dove at a beast and scolded her. Bronze, I say these are playthings and I am playing with them. You by no means have permission to kill my fun. She tilted a wing as he grabbed a second beast and landed angrily on top of the dragon's second kill. We are not hunting. Taking it in her claws, she flew up again and dropped it amidst the herd below.
Was everyone here to ruin her game but the White now? Nayarath would have liked to play with Jorindath, but now the Violet was eating and perching beside that horrid Bronze! Jorindath, why are you wasting your time with that dull Bronze? Come play with me! Her tone was friendly, but Kora could detect the demand in the queen's voice, so surely Jorindath would too.
Kora ran her fingers through Squeak's fur as Lilac and Soot took up chase after Tyrth. Overhearing Gwen's words, the thought that the girl probably wouldn't have to do anything- Nayarath simply wouldn't allow it- arose, but she kept silent. It seemed like everything she had tried to say lately had come out wrong, and it left her even less in the mood for talking than usual.
Kora felt even more unsettled when T'lat and Inolyn joined them, it had been easy to see something growing between them and the Weyrwoman was feeling utterly sick of relationships. Jorindath was making mistakes too, and so Kora still couldn't say anything. Nayarath was just trying to play, and now dragons were coming and not only ignoring the Gold, but killing and eating what she was playing with. It wouldn't be that hard to wait for the Senior Queen to finish.

Jorindath lifted her head from her half eaten kill to look at Hansth's questioningly. By the tone of Nayarath the bronze had done something wrong before the violet had arrived What did you do? Either way she picked up her half eaten meal and gulped it down, jumping over to her golden mother. If Hansth did something wrong, he should have known better and she wasn't going to protect him. The two largest dragons on Pern side by side, while being different colors made the pair no less daunting since both were queens.
No eating! Inolyn pressed again as her dragon seemed all too eger to play with the stampeeding herd. It was something she had never been allowed to before, but if Nayarath was doing it...
The first swoop ended in a stomp on the ground just short of running the beast over. The second she caught but released it with scratches, having not dug in her talons. The third however was much too skitsh, trying to chrage straight through the others causing Jorindath accidently hit it with a hind leg. Screaming in pain and trying to drag itself to its feet, Inolyn presumed its hip or even lower back had been broken.
Tyrth, you can have this one. Its still alive, I'm not allowed to eat it.

Except if the gold said no eating... Tyrth circled, uncertainly, caught between two queens. Gold trumped violet, though, so he did not drop to eat, but rather flew a tighter circle around the gold and the herd.
Whites are better than bronzes! the tiny dragon insisted to all in the area. He backed it up with a bugle, but the sound was quite a bit higher in tone than a bronze or tan, rather ruining the affect.
"I didn't impress a dragon, I just Impressed a pure ego," Gwen quipped. "I think Nayarath is mad with Hansth."
As for relationships, Gwen ignored them. Once she was off weyrling restrictions then she would start looking for a rider or somebody who didn't mind flight issues.
Assuming Tyrth ever caught even a green, which seemed rather unlikely with the size difference. Poor Tyrth.

Had Hansth not been scolded by Jordinath, he would have thought seriously about not apoligzing, but he knew that he was not in a position to do that and that it was better to air on the side of safety and to try and get into the queens good graces. He said to the gold I am sorry for trying to spoil your fun. I was wrong and should have kept my snout shut. I did not mean to, it's just that I am very hungry so I came here to eat. I did not mean to steal your toys. I will get my food form somewhere else. As though to show he was serious, he flew over to where there were some herdbeast who were stragglers and had been missed by the queen as toys and scacthed up on of those and took it back to where he had been purching to eat it and wacth the other dragons play before saying Please forgive me. His voice was very apoligetic. Plus the way he was purched seemed sad and pouting. The bronze could not stand to have other dragons mad at him. Even the little whites boast seem to slip by the sulking bronze.
T'lat just shook his head and walked over next to Hansth and patted his side and said Next time you won't open your mouth, like that to dragons that are higher ranked then you. The bronze just looked at T'lat and did not say anything. Should the gold come back with a rebuke instead of forgivness, the bronze planned on going back to his weyr to pout. He really did not like to have other dragons mad at him.

Nayarath rumbled at Jorindath's incompetance, figuring she could ignore the insult the Violet made by eating before coming out. Still growing into your skin? It's not any different from chasing Thread or a Flight, little sister. It just happened to be a lot closer to the ground. Nayarath snatched the beast with the broken back and dropped it near where she had dropped the beast she took from Hansth; her little pile of casualties. She could eat them later, supposing the Bronze didn't steal them.
Nayarath glanced at Tyrth, her eyes whirling with laughter. Oh really? She swooped close to him, twisting away again hopefully before she was near enough for any of the drafts from her wings to upset the much smaller dragon. I'll let you grow a bit more before I make any decisions. He at least had spunk.
Kora laughed. "As long as he has wings, I suppose. And Nayarath seems to like him." Small as Tyrth was, it was hard not to expect the Gold to not be interested by such an intriguing color. The White wouldn't be catching any queens, but at least he would get along with them.
"Nayarath expects Bronzes to join her, not start killing her toys." Kora shrugged. Quite frankly, she agreed with Nayarath in the idea that the Bronze was being stupid. It couldn't be that hard to tell that when the Gold was playing, she expected to not be interrupted. Alduth had always joined her anyways, why not the other Bronzes? Nayarath expected them all to act the same.
Nayarath, meanwhile, snorted at Hansth. You talk much too much, Bronze. She flew close to where he perched and snapped playfully at his neck, only just keeping short of actual contact. This was a game. Why did he sit there whining? Why did Jorindath perch next to him when she could be having fun? I really don't care for your apologetic words, you don't act like you care.
Annoyed, she dove into the midst of the herd again, rumbling as the beasts scattered and giving the ground a firm and purposeful- she knew how to deal with the ground, unlike her daughter seemed to- kick as she swooped away again. All of the dragons present were in serious need of training. Well, all of the adult dragons. Tyrth was alright.

Gwen laughed as Tyrth was caught by the wind from Nayarath's wings. It didn't upset his flight, just...
You tickled me!
Finding that amusing, he tried to buzz the gold, along her back, hoping to return the favor with the draft from his much smaller wings.
"Nayarath just thinks he's fun to play with. Of course, he can fly rings around her." Much smaller turning circle, for all the gold's control and grace. "Just not for very long."
Riding him was an experience, made more intense, Gwen thought, by not having as much dragon under her and by his penchant for, well. "Of course, he's a shameless showoff."

"I can see what you mean about the bronzes, Kora With Nayarath getting close to rising you would thnk they would be linguring around trying to gain favor." Inolyn added with a thought. She was trying to be a better queenrider, but it was sometimes hard when your queen like a green sometimes. Maybe more a barred though, they seemed to have a slightly better head on their shoulders.
Jorindath could only glare at Hansth while he was being snapped at. A queen wouldn't behave so had he as a bronze had acted accordingly. Bronzes did not tell queens what to do!... having just been informed of his crime. You do have a tendency to talk too much, maybe you should think more. And like a bronze. But a lot of Jorindath's emotion might have been because Nayarath seemed no longer egar to play with her. Again it seemed she was just too big...
"I bet you don't regret being left standing twice before finding Tyrth, do you Gwen?" Nearly every girl wanted a queen, just not as badly as Gwen most of them. Inolyn had just wanted to Impress, Jorindath was more then she had expected. But now Gwen had something even more special and possibly one in a million; a white.
