Vorire walked in with all the others, no rush to his stride. He loved the look he knew was plastered on his face, a wide stupid grin. The burn on his arm was almost healed now...thanks to his hawk-like watch over it and Tirasha.
He stood with the others watching the eggs, next to another boy...if he remembered right his name was Zuris. ((XD))
Zuris had had to rush to get on his robe, but honestly...this was the best day of his life!!! He walked onto the sands with everyone else and stood...facing the eggs. Whim was somewhere up at the top of the volcano singing his little heart out.
Y'xem skidded in moments before the Candidate mob. He always seemed to be late to things like this, of course this time..he had been bathing. " Hey there Kora, Beautiful Nayarath." He bowed to them both.
" I Hope I'm not too late, I really didn't want to come naked or wet. I just got out of the bath when Alduth went nuts! He kept yelling, My Children! My Children! and things like that. Silly beast had me extremely worried."
Alduth was now beside Nayarath, though a little in the shadows. I was excited! Still, he crooned to Nayarath, and began to sing the dragon welcoming song.
As the first to eggs hatched, Vorire and Zuris stood on edge. One was a Tan and the other was a Blue! Neither dragon paid the two much attention though, they instead went (clumsily in the Blue's case) to a chubby boy, that was the Blue, and to another boy. Ah well..plenty more eggs right?

Well, now that those first two were out of the way, the Copper Egg began to shake violently. Then, decided to crack right in half, revealing a very coppery Bronze dragonet.
The Bronze gave a snort and looked around quizzically. He hadn't moved from his egg halves, but with a sniff at them..decided that they weren't worth standing on any more.
He slowly moved forward, seemingly scanning all the Candidates with his whirling eyes, then he stopped. He turned his head and poked at Darmas with his snout.
Mine, My D'mas, Kayth has found you and now, can we please go find some food!?
Of course as this was all going on, other eggs aren't going to wait on anyone, right? Well both the Satin and Pebble Eggs definately were not going to. As the Satin Egg rocked back and forth, the egg bucked forward and smashed onto the sands. Out tumbled a very soft colored Brown, who struggled to pick himself up on still weak legs.
The Pebble Egg didn't go through so much trauma. In fact, after a few minutes it stopped shaking. Then the egg simply shattered slowly, crumbling off a Tan that seemed to be fast asleep.
Now that this Brown had gotten up, he began to hop around the circle of Candidates merrily. He would stop every now and then to stalk about very regal like, before going back to prancing about. Then he stumbled into the person he was looking for, or everyone hoped...
A cheerful gurgle escaped the little dragon as he looked at the person under him. Well hello there J'kylMine. So sorry to be on you, but Your Grimth is terribly hungry after all that hopping, can we go find some food?
With the Tan still immobile, the eggs were not going to stop hatching..so the Olive Egg took this opportunity to gracefully split in the middle to reveal another dragonet. This was a very bright Green.
She shook off the top half of the egg. Now the little Green dragon had to think of a way to get out of the other half without looking very foolish...ah well. She charged it and just kept running. SMACK! Right into an unsuspecting Candidate. The Green untangled herself from the girl and let out a loud chirp-creel. She had hurt the girl!
Mine! Oh, Earisa Mine! I'm so sorry...Maideneth didn't mean to hurt your arm! OOOH, Let me lick it better! But wait Mine! I'm so Hungry...can we go find me some food!!?
Through all this commotion, the little Tan had begun to move. He looked up and gave a big yawn. As he stood, he blinked and headed towards the Candidates...really oblivious of what had just happened with his Clutch-sister and Hers. He walked straight up to one single person, not bothering to look at anyone else.
N'ren Mine, Your Johannesth is hungry and tired. These other people are boring just standing here. Let's go and get some food...then relax.
Dragon Name and Color: Bronze Kayth Name Origin: Kay was a boy who went on a journey to the Snow Queen’s castle in ‘The Snow Queen’. Age: Hatchling Appearance: A Bronze who almost seems more copper colored than bronze, he has a dark hide with more brown tones than most Bronzes. As he ages, his hide which currently has no green, will gradually get more and more green tinges to it. Kayth’s paws are a lighter shade than the rest of him though, more bronze. He is a larger Bronze at just under 43 meters in length. Personality: Kayth likes to explore and ask questions, there is practically nothing that can keep him from learning something he really wants to know. It’s even possible that he could wander from the weyrling barracks or his weyr to figure out what some unknown noise is or sit and watch something or other that happened to intrigue him. His curiosity makes him easily distracted, Kayth will need a strong rider to keep him on track. Color Code: BF7C1D Rider: D'mas
Dragon Name and Color: Brown Grimth Name Origin: The Grimm brothers wrote many of the fairytales we know now, although they were usually more violent or depressing than the versions we more often hear. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Grimth’s hide is the color of well-cared for leather. Its color has a softness to it, even after it has just been oiled it doesn’t quite glisten but looks satiny and soft. To touch it, it feels like any dragon’s hide, but it doesn’t look like it. His hide has very whole throughout, without any stray markings on it. He is a middle-sized Brown at 35 meters in length. Personality: Grimth is a cheerful dragon, although he prefers to make himself seem serious to others. So although he may rumble and gurgle a lot, his words and tonality in speaking always seem to contrast his body language and usual dragon noises. It can be confusing at first to anyone, since his eyes might be whirling blue while he drolly says that there is nothing about the slightest bit interesting, but eventually one can get used to Grimth. Color Code: saddlebrown or 8B4513 Rider: J'kyl
Dragon Name and Color: Green Maideneth Name Origin: All fairytales need a pretty maiden who needs rescuing or some sort of help. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Maideneth’s hide is a bright yellow-green although she has a stripe of darker green that starts at her throat and continues down the underside of her neck, across her stomach, and about halfway down her tail. The knobs on the back of her head are darker green too, and the split tip of her tail actually splits into two different colors- her yellow-green color and the darker green of the stripe along her underside. At 23 meters, Maideneth is an medium-sized Green. Personality: Maideneth has more energy than she can control and so it has a tendency to pop out in sudden spurts that leave her exhausted only minutes later. Her life is a never ending pattern of explosive energy followed by a quick nap, rather like puppies. Her attention span lasts about as long as her bursts of energy and her naps seem to have a memory-killing ability that make her wake up totally unsure of where she is or what has been happening. Color Code: lawngreen or 7CFC00 Rider: Earisa
Dragon Name and Color: Tan Johannesth Name Origin: In ‘The Traveling Companion’ Johannes’ father dies and so he goes on a journey to figure out the meaning of a dream he later had about his father’s spirit. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Johannesth’s hide is a very light tan but streaked with darker shades across his shoulders and hindquarters. The stripe along his back is especially dark, although not quite black, it is a very, very dark brown. He is a small Tan at 33 meters. Personality: Johannesth is not *quite* a lazy dragon. He will get up and do things when asked to, but he has a habit of always finding the easiest path out of anything and for the most part just avoids it in whatever way possible. It’s not that he’s lax, but simply doesn’t ever feel particularly inspired to do anything. Even talking is something he seems to avoid- what really is there to say about anything anyways? Color Code: khaki or FOE68C Rider: N'ren

Nev looked at the Pebble egg nervously as it suddenly stopped moving. Hadn't it just been shaking moments ago? Why had it stopped? The shell was crumbling now... he ignored the other hatchlings that were running about and Impressing to watch this odd occurance. Finally the shell had fallen away to reveal a Tan who was... what? Sleeping? It looked almost dead.
The other dragonets seemed to be Impressing alright... but not to him. Nev watched a Bronze, Brown and Green find their lifemates and looked over the other eggs. Which one was for him?
Finally the Tan was moving again. It walked in a lazy but very direct sort of way... and straight to Nev.
N'renMine, your Johannesth is hungry and tired. These other people are boring just standing here. Let's go get some food... and relax.
He stared at the Tan for a long moment and then grinned. He had Impressed! Of course, you must be hungry after so long waiting in an egg, huh?
Yes. Johannesth gave Nev's side a bump. Food? Nev grinned and gave the Tan's eyeridge a scratch and started to lead him off the Sands to where he could get some food for the hatchling. Perhaps he had hatched a little oddly, but surely he would be a lovely dragon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aleyi was quite fascinated by the hatching of the Tan and jumped to the side as a Green appeared from nowhere to leap on a nearby girl. Apparently they Impressed too, for the Green didn't dart away again as the Blue had. Aleyi smiled at the girl, trying to be friendly and hide her impatience. If a dragon wanted to Impress her why didn't it just hatch already and come over?
D'mas colapsed to his knees to hug his dragon, tears of pure joy running down his face. Oh he did care if his dragon looked a bit more of a shiny brown then a true bronze, he was perfect in everyway! D'mas, food! I'm hungry! and Kayth started nosing around at D'mas's clothing for any thing that might be concidered eatible. The new rider did not need to be told a third time that his dragon was hungry, leading the bronze off the sands at a brick pace in his bliss.
Earisa saw the bright green dragon coming in her direction,knew she had to get out of the way but the most unusual coloring of her just took her breath away. What a slended creature! SMACK!!! Earisa was bowled over onto her back, the dragonetts claws raked her arm and blood seepedonto the sands. I'm such an idiot! i messed up again! picking herself up to look straight into the worred eyes of the green, Maideneth...
"I'll be alright, your hungry!" Picking herself up and clutching at her wounds she lead the vibrant green away...
Nixsha watched the hatchings and shook her head lightly. Making her way over to the new first Tan Rider. He was the most damaged so far, and none of the other healers where helping him. She sighed softly as she put her hands on her hips and stared down at the male. Shaking her head faintly and thrusting the bowl of meat at him. "Feed your dragon boy, and I will tend to your wounds... You're in good hands, I'm the Master Healer..." She said as she crouched pulling out a varied amount of tools from her pouches.
A medium sized bottle came out and from that came pure water she used to wash out the scratches, before she put a watered down version of numbweed to the wounds. "You're d**n lucky Tan Weyrling, that dragonet almost got the artery on your inner leg. If he had got that, no healing in the world would have saved you." She announced as she pulled out a needle and thread. Her head tilted up, her eyes closed. Her head tilted towards the Tan. Handsome Tan, what be thy name? she asked him lightly. She needed to reassure the hatchling that all would be alright.
Thats when she yanked K'in's leg out straight a bit and started to stitch up the wounds. "I have superb stitches, so it should just barely scar" She announced as she began her work, it would be tedious, with how long this gash was. She would need another healer to attend to his other wounds while she worked on his leg gash. "I need and assistant" She snapped as she turned to look back at the other healers. How DARE they not LEAP to help the dangerously injured male. (( I didn't see any healers helping him, so... yeah... she's pissed XD )) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meagen watched the hatchlings ambling around, the injuries rising. But yet her attention remained on that Clash Egg. Amber eyes so much like a lupines, had such intensity in them, but the smile on her face was radiant. As another girl joined them she nodded faintly, and clapped for the new impressions. Turning to make sure the girl knocked over by the green was alright. As soon as she moved to help, she noticed that the girl had impressed the green, she kept her smile on her face and continued to clap.
Her eyes then returned to the Clash Egg. Her eyes doing there best not to turn towards Damian. She hoped to the great golden dragoness Faranth, that he did not impress a bronze. With that sort of power behind him, Meagen might never be able to stop him in his actions towards her. It would make her look horrible for turning down an infatuated Bronze Rider. It had been bad enough that people judged her without knowing the story.
No one really had asked her story, or his with her for that matter, that she knew of. She hadn't even told the Weyrwoman, but she had told some of the healers. It was at the thought of her past, her back went ramrod stiff. She WOULD impress, and she would impress to a dragon that would help her accomplish her goals. She would make sure she NEVER had to deal with Damian like that, ever again.
Mieran watched as four more dragons burst out of their shells and headed for the candidates. He was aware of the Bronze's inspection, but not surprised when he moved towards another boy. He was glad that the Impressions were going so well. There had been injuries, but nothing their Healers couldn't fix. He wondered what would happen next.
Beka would have liked to say that she was having absolutely no problems keeping up with the sudden rush of hatchings and Impressions, but she'd be lying. Four eggs hatched in what seemed like rapid succession - to her anyway - and four dragonets were on the sands. Bronze, Green, Tan and Brown. It was even harder to keep an eye on them once they'd all moved off to different places, different candidates to sniff at.
Jumping back, Beka's eyes went wide as the green seemed to barrel into a candidate - no not seemed, she did - knocking her down. Had she Impressed? It seemed so since the green wasn't up and running away yet. Tearing her eyes from the bright green to look at the others, Beka found herself smiling, slightly.
Out of the three boys that had newly Impressed, she knew one, Nev. Didn't boys change their names when they Impressed? If so, what would his name be now? It was mainly curiousity that kept her looking - Beka would never admit that she might kind of think of him as a friend - watching the tan dragon more than his new rider. Lucky him. Very lucky him.
*
A green, brown, bronze, tan. So far, the clutch was doing well, there were only two low rankers - surprising - in amoungst the higher ranked males. Only one blue though, dissapointing for her. If it wasn't for D'nor's hand on her shoulder she would have fled by now, whether she'd told the candidate she'd come or not.. And didn't she just Impress the rather hyper green?
A slight smile twitched Zadari's lips, even as she nodded, an action the girl probably wouldn't see. She'd told her the Touching meant nothing, and now at least the girl would really believe her. Turning her head away quickly, she glanced at the boys, only to glance down at her lap. They looked happy and as much as Zadari hated to admit it, seeing them look so happy was killing her.
"Zaddy? Breathe, don't faint on me." D'nor's amused voice cut through her wanderings and Zadari merely glanced up at him. It was easy for the green rider, her could remember the happiness of his Impression... happily. She couldn't. She wasn't even sure she could breathe, this was... Hard, to say the least. The dull throb in her heart more pronounced as each dragon found their bonded. Lucky them. Hopefully they took better care of their bondeds than she had.
K'in K'in couldn't help but chuckle at the little dragon's words, but he regretted it the moment he did as pain shout through his chest and then ran to all other parts of his body. He winced a little as he hunched over a little and clutched the bleeding wound on his chest. He had to admit that he was in rather bad shape and he could feel it get worse by the second. "Your right, Tindereth. You need food and I need a healer... I have a feeling that I might fall on my face if I try to walk though..." K'in said to the little Tan dragon as he tried to stand up straight. But he stopped when his head started to spin from the pain and blood lose, most of the blood lose coming from his inner thigh. He knew that if he couldn't even stand straight, there was no way that he would be able to walk.
Don't move K'in-mine, I am sure that the healers will notice your pain! I do hunger, but your are more important then food, Tindereth wailed when he saw his hunch over in pain. He didn't pay much attention to the little joke that his had made, do to the fact that he was to worried to really be interested in jokes, as he nuzzled his with his snout and he tried to comfort his bonded. He looked around to see if a healer was coming as he did this. It was then that he saw Nixsha heading in their direction and he turned his attention back to his rider as he Purred, Don't worry mine, the healer comes to help you and... Is that a bowl of food I see? The Tan said the last part with a little bit of curiosity in his voice as he tried to see if it was indeed meat.
It was at the moment his little tan said this, that K'in's injured leg gave out and he fall flat on his butt on the sand again. He winced when sand entered the wound on his inner thigh and a hiss of pain came from his lips as he bite his lip to keep from screaming out in pain. He was sure that he wouldn't be able to get up again this time, do to the fact that he was to dazed at this point as well as into much pain, but he did fight back the tears that threatened to fall harder then they had been. He hated being in this weak state and the burning hand wasn't helping anything. He did hope that no one saw him as weak after this. He hated feeling weak or having other think him weak. It wasn't like he wanted to be siting in the sands with all these wounds and tear in his eyes. This was just the way things had turned out.
Tindereth's eyes turned white when he say his's legs give out and he turned to see if the healer was still on her way only to see that she was already standing right beside them with her hands on her hips. He moved out of the way so that she could get to his, but he made sure that he was in arms reach of his bonded as he moved to stand behind his. His spirits raised a little when his guess turned out to be right. The bowl that she had brought with her was indeed filled with meat! But his spirits didn't raise to much. He was to worried about his to be to happy about food at the moment though. He would be happy about it when his was feeling better!
Though K'in was dazed from pain and blood lose, he could tell that the woman that stood before him was indeed a healer like Tindereth had said. He reached out and took the bowl of meat, with his good arm, that had been thrust at him from the healer and did exactly what she told him to do, he started to feed his dragon. He tried to ignore the pain that ran through his body as he moved his upper body muscles. The tension this caused in his chest was almost to agonizing as he feed his Tindereth.
He was wondering if he was actually so bad off that he needed the services of a master healer as he did this, but she soon answered that question for him. He had almost gotten the artery in his leg cut by the little blue dragonet! It would have been horrible if the blue had cut the artery! He had just impressed to his Tindereth and it would have killed both of them! The thought of the little tan dying was almost to much for K'in to take in as he couldn't help the relief that came to his face. "I am gladded the little dragonet had bad aim then... I really don't like the thought of death and I am sure Tindereth feels the same," K'in said as he tried to lighten his own mood with a little joke, but it didn't work. He found it interesting how he could be in so much pain and still joke around at times like this. It was just the way he was he guessed as he continued to feed Tindereth. He his in pain as the healer pulled his leg straight and started to stitch the wound shut. He almost dropped the bowl of meat in his hands as a wave of dizziness crashed over him, but he swiftly regained his composer and continued to feed the worried dragonet. Tindereth watched every thing in worried silents as his took the bowl of meat and started to feed him. He ate everything that was given to him, but he was not happy by the fact that his was stressing his muscles so much. He could tell that it pained his to feed him, but he knew that his wouldn't stop feeding him until he was full. No, I don't like the idea of your death K'in-mine, but if it was a choice between me or you, I wish it would be me. The dragon replied to his's words not realizing that his bonded had been joking.
Not long after he said this to his though, a the voice of the healer came to his ears and his head, which had been taken food from his bonded's hand, popped up and looked at the master healer with lime green eyes. She speaks with dragons? the dragonet thought to himself as he tilted his head to this side in his curiosity. My name his Tidereth, is K'in-mine alright? Is mine badly hurt? The dragon wailed to the master healer as he decided it was best to answer her and get the information he longed to know. He watched as she started to stitch the wound on his leg shut and his almost dropped the bowl full of meat. The dragon knew that he could do nothing so he waited to see how the healer would answer his question.
Jokyl loved the little brown that came out of the Satin egg. He also liked the tan, but that brown was so cute and looked like soft leather. The little brown pranced and stalked around some before sort of falling into Jokyl and saying, Well hello there J'kylMine. So sorry to be on you, but Your Grimth is terribly hungry after all that hopping, can we go find some food? J'kyl just sat on his but for a second trying to take in everything. The whirlling eyes stared straight into him, holding him with love. Finally hunger pains broke through the rainbow of impression and J'kyl quickly took his to get food, though he limped a little from his legs being knocked into by a dragon. He knew he wasn't as bad as others though, and he was fine really, no blood, broken bones, or sprained ligaments and tendons, he was fine. Mine, I will feed you whenever you need food.
Tirasha sighed irritably as she marched onto the Hatching Sands late. Hatchings were important to get to, and now she’d probably get yelled at for having missed some Candidate getting mauled because he was too stupid to get out of the way… yes, very likely. She saw Nixsha standing next to a boy with a Tan, and she didn’t look happy. Others didn’t look too well either, a fat boy was stumbling about with sand still clinging to his robes (had he fallen? Burnt?) and a girl with a Green was clutching at some sort of cut. Shards, had she missed that much? Hoping the Masterhealer wouldn’t be too angry with her, Tirasha hurried to Nixsha’s side. No, she didn’t look happy at all. Angry more like it, and this boy had a bad cut too. “Sorry I’m late. The Healer had missed Nixsha’s demand for assistance and was simply hoping that she wouldn’t be in too much trouble; her aunt had never liked it when she was late for anything. Some woman’s son had decided to trip and smash his head on a rock on the way to the Hatching grounds and so although the cut wasn’t bad, head wounds always bled a lot and looked worse than they were. Tirasha had been stuck helping him, at least she had finally gotten the mother settled (the son didn’t seem too worried, he wanted to see the ‘dragonses’) and escaped. Tirasha saw no need to ask if Nixsha needed help, she could see what needed to be done. Willow (Tianthe had disappeared when the hatching started and probably was perched in the rafters somewhere) left to perch on the edge of the stands so he would be out of the way and Tirasha, carefully keeping herself out of Nixsha’s path, pulled out a jar of numbweed. After slathering oil on her fingers to protect herself from the herb’s effects, she started on the new Tanrider’s other wounds. ~~~~~~~ Nayarath only glanced at Alduth as her mate came in and settled beside her to watch the Hatching. She was much more focused on the Gilt egg, which was shaking much more vigorously now. Cracks were spreading from its golden top and spreading down the sides, little flakes of shell falling off here and there. Kora smiled vaguely at Y’xem, also more interested in her dragon’s highest-ranking daughter finally hatching. A large fragment of egg fell off, giving a shadowy view of the inside of the egg. The dragonet still trapped inside turned her head towards the little whole and stuck her muzzle out as though she could work her whole body through the break. This muzzle was not the Gold everyone seemed to be expecting, but a dark violet shade. Nayarath crooned softly, not minding at all that this egg didn’t hold a Gold. Apparently the Violet’s had upped themselves up from just getting big eggs, they had queen eggs too. Finally the shells fell away enough for the whole dragonet to escape the Gilt egg. She looked around at the watching crowd from the safe area between her mother’s forelegs, and then started with tentative steps towards the Candidates. If a Violet had hatched out of the Gilt egg, then what sort of dragon could reside in the Clash egg? It was seeming quite impatient to fall apart now too. The egg cracked much more quickly than the Gilt egg had, the shell finally giving in to the dragonet inside and splitting cleanly down the center. Both sides fell away to reveal… a very large Bronze. He almost glowered at everyone around him, looking irritated at having had to wait so long to hatch, and then charged towards the male Candidates. He apparently didn’t know which one he wanted quite yet though and began to pace back and forth, inspecting each boy. The Glow egg was next to hatch, a hole first appearing in the top and allowing a dark tan head to poke out, and then with a violent shudder the rest of the shell fell away. A third Tan had hatched, and he at least seemed very sure of who he wanted to Impress. Although he kept looking around at everyone and everything around him, his feet carried him straight to one boy: Aithew. A’thew, there are a great many things of interest around here… he began, Thieth would very much like to know about them… and perhaps be fed in the meanwhile? He nuzzled the boy and looked up at him hopefully. The Violet had reached the female Candidates by now and as she got more sure about how to use her feet her step moved from nervous to bouncy and excited. Despite that, she still didn’t seem to know which girl she wanted. Only one had Impressed so far, there were plenty left and she simply didn't know quite which one to choose. The Bronze, at least, seemed to finally decide who he wanted and marched up to Zuris. Jacklith is very impatient to be fed, Z’ris. Show me where the food is so I can eat. One more egg seemed determined to hatch then, and this one revealed a dark but very cheerful-looking Green. She bounded away from the Moss egg and towards the Candidates, first heading in the direction of the females. While headed that way though, she overstepped, fell, and when she got up was headed for the boys. Not at all deterred by this, she headed over there and slid into a boy standing near her much larger Bronze brother. V’ireMine, V’ireMine! Look at Elisth, she has hatched! I have hatched and can walk and leap and now I am very hungry! Where is the food? I can smell it, yes, but I do not see it! Help me, please V’ireMine? She didn’t quite hold still as she Impressed, but bounced in excited circles around the boy. The Violet glanced at her active sister, the large Bronze, and the Tan then gave her head a slight toss. She had to Impress too; she saw no reason to wait around and be some sort of finale. Half-way through a step she suddenly paused, left forepaw poised in the air, and turned to look at one girl. Yes. She should have gone to her already, she was the one. Jorindath has found you! Are you pleased? Yes? She nuzzled the girl excitedly. Yesyes, you must be. Jorindath has found you know, she is yours. And you, Inolyn, are mine.~~~~~~ Dragon Name and Color: Tan Thieth Name Origin: In the story ‘The Master-thief’ a boy thought to have no chance at all at becoming successful in life grew rich by running away from home and becoming a thief who only stole the excess money of nobles. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Overall, Thieth has a slightly darker hide than the average Tan, although its shade is countered by streaks of white-tan that run faintly along his neck, sides and legs. The stripe down his back is also lighter than average and is sometimes hard to see against his back. He has practically no markings on his legs, although his feet are the usual dark brown. Thieth is a middle-sized Tan at 38 meters. Personality: Thieth is a bit overcurious and has a habit of just taking things he likes so he can figure out what they are rather than asking about them. As a dragon who gets along well with fire-lizards, he is occasionally able to get flitts to do his bidding too. A rider shouldn’t be surprised if people occasionally turn up at the entrance to Thieth’s weyr demanding to be told what has happened to some random item that has gone missing. Color Code: sandybrown or F4A460 Rider: A’thiewDragon Name and Color: Bronze Jacklith Name Origin: Jackli was the second Swabian in ‘The Seven Swabians’ and surrendered with his fellows to a rake and battled a hare. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Jacklith is very much a Bronze, his hide is a glistening bronzy color, touched with faint streaks of green here and there. Jacklith’s tail is a bit longer than average and he has a habit of tripping over it, although when flying it makes him more agile. Jacklith is a large Bronze at 45 meters in length. Personality: Jacklith is a proud Bronze, he always thinks his opinion is right and although he will back down to a queen, considers himself the boss of everyone else. He usually doesn’t have anything nice to say about anyone unless he happens to be trying to earn a chance to mate. Despite that, his proud personality could make him a good leader if he could only learn to be willing to listen to other opinions a little too. Color Code: AB9329 Rider: Z’ris Dragon Name and Color: Green Elisth Name Origin: A girl from ‘The Wild Swans’, she was saved by a group of swans who turned out to be her eleven wandering brothers. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Elisth’s hide is a little dark, more the color of Terran Maple leaves than anything else. Like a leaf, her hide is spider-webbed with veins of lighter color that all branch out from a light-green stripe down her back. A larger Green, Elisth is about 26 meters in length. Personality: Elisth is a wild Green with a complete excess of energy that she can never figure out quite what to do with. She is constantly moving, bouncing around and chattering about nothing, rather like a lot of fire-lizards. Elisth really seems to take a lot after her wild and much smaller cousins, although she seems to have trouble getting along with them because even fire-lizards sometimes get impatient with Elisth’s inability to hold still or be quiet. Color Code: forestgreen or 228B22 and Bolded Rider: V’ireDragon Name and Color: Violet Jorindath Name Origin: A princess who was turned into a nightingale in the tale ‘Jorinda and Joringal’. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Jorindath’s hide is a deep shade of purple and basically the same throughout. The only spot that it changes is on her forehead there is an open spattering of lighter lavender. Her wing membranes are of that same lavender color too, and look even lighter when they are fully spread and the sun is shining through the thin layer of skin. Personality: Jorindath is a bouncy dragon. She could easily be a Green for her cheerful and energetic personality. Although willing to hold still, she doesn’t like to for long amounts of time and doesn’t like it when those around her are acting lazy. It’s only dragons who refuse to get up and do anything that bother her; basically Jorindath likes everyone. She is a large Violet, almost the same size as her Gold mother at 47 meters. Color Code: 6E2F80 Rider: Inolyn((We're pretending Aithew is here... xP))
Meagen's eyes widened as the violet hatched, biting the inside of her cheek as the creature wandered towards them. Her hands clenched at her side as the longing pounded in her chest, but another girl impressed. She tilted her head up and looked proud as she clapped for the girl that had impressed the queen. Her egg she had watched, hatching into a bronze, and once again, she had nothing to watch, nothing to look for. Her eyes wandered over the eggs, and the hatchlings already done, and just remained silent. Still biting the inside of her cheek, and keeping her head up.
She WOULD impress, she had to... because if she impressed then she would be out of Damian's reach. She would NEVER trust him, she could never trust him ever again. But hey, if she didn't impress now, she could always go back to the traders for awhile, and wander around pern again. !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!
Nixsha looked up at the Journeywoman that had appeared. "Good finish tending to him, I am going to go and tend to the greens bonded." She stated as she stood and put her supplies back. "Make sure he makes that dragon CHEW" She stated as she looked back at the tan. It is nice to meet you, and he will be fine, I need to tend to the others... if you feel like anythings wrong with him, just call for me... my name is Nixsha... She said to him as she walked towards the girl that had impressed the first green.
"Miss my name is Nixsha, I would like to look at your arm" She said lightly as she held out her hand, she would be patient. (( Muses hate me right now, best I could get was this ))
Inolyn was probably the only candidate who's attention wasn't where it should have been as the eggs had hatched she made a mental counter of what and how was impressing, overjoyed with each impression. 3 tans, a blue, 2 greens, a brown and 2 bronzes... and who couldn't forget the surprising violet that had hatched when all thought a gold had rested in the shell of protected egg.
With the violet searching amongst them, nearly all eyes on her, Inolyn had oo'ed and awed over the size and strength of the dragonets. She had spent quite a bit of time with these young people around her, to her they were all friends and as each newly bonded pair walked off they all should have been celebrating but with the eggs still hatching they couldn't leave. R'mer had been teased behind his back so often for being over weight and Earisa had been working harder then any of them. They had deserved to Impress, if not more then the rest of them!
Jorindath has found you! Are you pleased? Yes?
Where had that voice come from? Whirling around to see gazes in her direction, the touch at her side making her look down. Blinking she didn't seem to get it at first, but it was as clear as crystal that Impression had been made. Yesyes, you must be. Jorindath has found you know, she is yours. And you, Inolyn, are mine.
"Oh of course I'm happy!" The harper girl cried in joy. Stroking the beautiful violet's head. "She says her name is Jorindath!" she declared to the audience and her peers as loud as her voice would carry the message. and I am hungry! Jorindath cried in a just as happily proud voice as her chosen.
"Of course, of course! You must be fed!" Inolyn said, encouraging her dragon till they were both bouncing happily off the sands as she waved to the crowd. This was so exciting! We are together, they are happy!...food! and Jorindath's attention was straight to the priority of filling her stomach, Inolyn laughing as she was more then willing to comply.
~~~~~~~
Earisa looked up from feeding her green, almost having her fingers bitten off by Maideneth. A cloth had been found tied around her bleeding arm, at the moment feeding her dragonet was the most important thing right now. "Your welcome to, it doesn't look that deep to me but stings a bit." I am sorry, I didn't mean it She said in a comforting croon, rubbing her head against her's good arm. Earisa's main concern was being able to care for Maideneth properly, followed next by infection. It would be hurting her much more if it was serious.

Shador was in the Stands with Kelth, who was very excited about the Hatching. She was humming enthusiastically, her eyes whirling at top speed. She couldn't wait for her own clutch! Look, mine, a Violet! She exclaimed, crooning at the sight of the baby Violet. Was I ever that small, mine?
You were a dainty little thing, Kelth. Just think, Joridanth will be as big as you someday! Shador grinned and scratched her lifemate's eye ridges affectionately, thinking back to her own Impression. It had been the happiest day of her life. She had never expected to walk off of the sands with a dragon like Kelth, thinking that she would be best as a Greenrider. There was no denying that Kelth was perfect for her, though.
------------
Lanoen laughed softly when the "Gold" egg opened to reveal a Violet. He had been right, the egg had taken everyone by surprise. Now, what did the Clash Egg hold? He wasn't surprised to see a big Bronze dragon. He had a feeling that one was a royal, just not exactly which color. Too bad he didn't bet any marks on this clutch.
Another Tan hatched and Impressed while the Violet pranced around, taking her own sweet time deciding who to Impress. A Green started for the girls, then changed her mind and Impressed a boy. The Violet finally chose after that. Lanoen looked back at the eggs, wondering which would hatch next, and if his dragon was waiting somewhere in the remaining eggs.
----------
Mieran grinned as the Violet Impressed to Inolyn, the girl he had heard singing in the Weyrbowl. So far, there had been three Tans, plus the Violet. The new colors were making a good showing, and Mieran guessed that they were going to be a part of the Weyr from now on.

Nixsha rolled her eyes at the girls words and turned to look down at the green dragon she had impressed to. She smiled softly and sighed lightly, deep in her heart like any girl she yearned for a dragon. But Nixsha was too old, and she already had enough rank to last someone a lifetime. She nodded faintly and then shifted pulling the cloth off and wincing. "Girly if you had ignore this, it would have gotten infected and septic, and I would have had to lance and drain it." She stated as she pulled out a bottle of disinfectant.
She looked down at the little green and smiled faintly. Little green, I am just telling you now. Your mine is about to be in pain, I don't want you to get worried, I am helping her, as much as it hurts her. THe medicine in this bottle will clean out the scratches and help her heal more fully... She told the green lightly. She had come to find, her talent with talking to dragons often had many uses.
She turned then and pulled out a clean cloth and began the process of cleaning out the wound thoroughly. A long, painful process if I might add, because she had to make sure all the sand was out. When she was sure that all was well, she pulled out a fresh clean bandage and spread a cream on the scratches, meant to keep infection out. Then she wrapped up the girls arm and patted it. "Now... I want to see you in the infirmary to get this change at least once again, preferably twice. Until its fully healed. If they give you any hassle about it, tell them Nixsha ordered it." She stated lightly. And you little green, are free to tell me at any time, that she does not comply with the Master Healers orders..
With that she stood and walked back towards the tan rider that had gotten his leg and chest ripped open. "Tirasha I want you to keep tabs on this young man. I want you to make sure those stitches are checked once a day, and he is applying the cream that will keep his skin from tearing around the stitches. As for his other wounds, I want them checked AT LEAST once a day as well, and kept very very clean. Is that understood Tan Weyrling?" She said in a stern voice. Her hands where braced on her hips as she did this. You could definitely tell she was getting into the swing of things.

Tirasha glanced at Nixsha and nodded, trying to hold back her annoyance at the Masterhealer. She didn't like being ordered about by someone practically her own age and knew perfectly well how to tend to everything and what to tell the boy. Shards, she could have been a Masterhealer just as well and maybe not have been so angry.
"You heard her then," Tirasha muttered, rubbing a little numbweed over a spot on his arm where it looked like the Blue's claws had just grazed. "Willow'll hunt you down if you don't obey." Or Tianthe more likely, the Green was more annoying and probably would be more likely to convince someone they wanted to be rid of her. Willow chirped happily anyways, liking the idea of an assignment his smaller clutch-sister usually got.

The queen had hatched and Impressed... not to her, which Aleyi expected. Some girl she had heard singing before, but didn't know. There were still plenty of girls needing to Impress, but luckily still plenty of eggs. And much as the girl didn't like waiting around getting her feet burnt, this was fairly interesting to watch. All the eggs wobbling and suddenly falling apart to reveal ugly little dragonets... did they really grow into those great graceful beasts she saw all over? How astounding.

Zuris grinned as more Candidates Impressed, some he knew...and some that he didn't know quite yet. He wasn't even paying attention when a Bronze marched up to him and said somewhat irritably, Jacklith is very impatient to be fed, Z’ris. Show me where the food is so I can eat.
Z'ris gasped and looked down at the dragon with shock on his face. Of course Jacklith. Let's find you some food then! The boy had never really expected to Impress Bronze!!
As the younger Candidate beside him walked off with his new Bronze life-mate, Vorire was glad the boy had Impressed. The shock on the kid's face told Vorire that...V’ireMine, V’ireMine! Look at Elisth, she has hatched! I have hatched and can walk and leap and now I am very hungry! Where is the food? I can smell it, yes, but I do not see it! Help me, please V’ireMine?
Hang on! V'ire sighed as he picked himself off the floor. He didn't even remember what he had been thinking about, wait!
He looked down near him and saw the little Green. He had Impressed!! He smiled. I'm sorry Dear Heart, I was thinking about something else. Let's go feed you shall we?

There was no question about it, the Leaf Egg was not going to wait any longer. It shattered and revealed a very speckled looking Green. This little Green though, knew exactly who she was looking for. Maybe she had thought about it since the Egg Touching? Regardless this little Green dragon made a bee-line for her Choosen one.
Mine! My Ash’n! Come, Chase Peath to the food!
The next two eggs to hatch hatched very close together. It seemed that the Ocean Egg only hatched first because it held a larger Blue hatchling. Right after it was the Morning Egg.
The smaller Blue was the only one of the two to show interest in Impressing at the moment, his larger Brother was just looking around and snorting. He headed for the boys, paying no special attention to the girls on the Sands. As he sniffed around he came to a stop in front of a Candidate and looked up into the boy’s eyes.
Hello L’noen Mine, can we go find some food? Peasanth doesn’t want to wait around for the bigger ones to hatch.
Now as the Blue Impressed the Oak Egg burst clean in half. The egg revealed a kind of bright colored Bronze…who really didn’t seem to like being alone. He creeled slightly before taking off in a slow run at a little cluster of boys. He stopped just in time to avoid a possible head butt with the Candidate’s knees.
No’ln Mine! Hanseth wishes to be fed! Please, can we go now!?
Another egg, the Grass Egg, seemed to explode and reveal an already moving Green. The green didn’t toy around with anyone’s emotions, didn’t regard any of the boys with any curiosity. She went straight up to her Chosen Candidate.
Zenniel Mine, Food now for your Cindellath. It wasn’t even a request, it was a demand from this very regal looking Green.
Now the other Blue decided to move about the Candidates, but the Shadow Egg wasn’t going to wait for him.
The Shadow Egg broke apart into a few puzzle like pieces, revealing a rather dark Brown. He looked around at the Candidates before moving, and, seeming to discover who he had chosen…ran to that Candidate. He ran right past the Blue, causing the other dragon to lose balance for a second and almost topple. Then the Brown stopped right in front of His.
MeagenMine, is this the world? Can Toath have some food now? It’s been an awful long time in that shell.
The larger Blue gave a hiss at the Brown as it flew by in a quick run. He regained his balance and walked up to a Candidate that seemed to have the same ideas right about now.
D’ianMine, Your Dwarth doesn’t like that Brown too much. Anyway, can we go feed me now?
Dragon Name and Color: Green Peath Name Origin: In ‘The Real Princess’, a test is run to find a real princess for the prince to marry using three peas put under a stack of about twenty mattresses. If the girl who sleeps on the bed ends up not being able to sleep, she is a princess. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Peath is an almost speckled green- she has her base green color but it is dotted with a variety of lighter and darker shades as though someone gathered some paint onto a sponge and just smacked it all over her hide. Peath is a slightly larger Green at 24 meters. Personality: Peath has figured out a way to control her boundless energy- she comes up for contests and games for everyone she knows (including herself) to participate in. If her rider doesn’t need to play too, she usually ends up as the judge. Peath’s whole life is a contest really, whether organized or not, and she always has to be the best at everything and has a powerful obsession against losing. Color Code: 38B555 Rider: Ash’n
Dragon Name and Color: Blue Peasanth Name Origin: A peasant watched over the grave of a rich man for three nights in exchange for a measure of corn in the story ‘The Grave-mound’. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Peasanth’s hide is a soft purpley-blue. It isn’t quite navy, but too dark to be a normal blue either. There is a marking on his forehead in a lighter shade, a more sky blue, shaped roughly like a diamond; it is the only variation in the color of his hide on him. Peasanth is a small Blue at 24 meters. Personality: Like many Blues, Peasanth can be a little shy around big dragons but on his own or with those of a size more similar to his, Peasanth is bold and has a daredevil streak in him. He loves to show off to females and can be a major flirt at times too, as long as the dragon he happens to be associating with doesn’t already have a mate larger than him. (Peasanth can totally take on someone his size.) Color Code: darkslateblue or 483D8B Rider: L’noen
Dragon Name and Color: Bronze Hanseth Name Origin: In ‘Hansel and Grethel’, Hansel and his older sister were abandoned in the woods and got caught by a witch who planned to eat Hansel. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Hanseth has a bright hide, a gold-bronze color that is too dark to be the former and too light to be the latter. His hide doesn’t even really have one whole color, but has swirls of bronze, green, brown and even dark shades of gold throughout his hide. Hanseth is a middle-sized Bronze at 41 meters. Personality: Hanseth likes to be in the company of others and quickly grows lonely if left on his own for any amount of time. He prefers the company of dragons or his riders, but fire-lizards are enough if he’s not left alone with them for very long. Hanseth seems to get along very well with fire-lizards too, and there are often many flocking around him. Color Code: goldenrod or DAA520 Rider: No’ln
Dragon Name and Color: Green Cindellath Name Origin: In the story ‘Cinderella’ a girl was forced by her step-sisters to be their maid but finally escaped them when her fairy godmother helped her marry a prince. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Cindellath’s hide is the color of good grass, just a pure, healthy green. About halfway down her legs her hide starts to darken slightly, although her feet aren’t that much darker than her body because the change is so gradual. There is a small splatter of deep yellow on the tip of Cindellath’s nose. A medium-small Green, Cindellath is about 22 meters in length. Personality: Cindellath does not like being bossed around by anyone and if told to do or not do something, she will do the complete opposite of whatever was said. It can make her hard to control unless she comes upon someone quite practiced in reverse psychology, since by telling her to do the opposite of what they went, she will inadvertently do what was wanted. Anyone who is stuck with her for a while will master that eventually… hopefully. Color Code: 2A662B Rider: Zenniel
Dragon Name and Color: Brown Toath Name Origin: Like any toad would, in ‘The Toad’, a little toad wants someone to think of him as pretty. No-one does until he comes upon a naturalist who says he is the most perfect toad he’s ever seen. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Toath’s hide is a very dark brown, when its dark out he sometimes seems a bit like a shadow on the ground than something brown. A stripe of sand-colored brown runs briefly across his stomach, but it can only be seen from below because of its placement. Toath is a medium-large Brown at 37 meters. Personality: Toath is a slightly random Brown. He has a bad memory and if he can remember something that happened to him yesterday, it always manages to mix itself up with something else so he’s not always totally clear on what it was that happened. He has an odd habit of suddenly falling asleep for no reason at all; he might be taking a bath and suddenly collapse in the water snoring. Hopefully that won’t ever happen while he’s flying…. Color Code: 57543E Rider: Meagen
Dragon Name and Color: Blue Dwarth Name Origin: A dwarf in ‘Snow-White and Red-Rose’ kept getting his beard tangled in his fishing line so the two girls had to keep cutting it to free it. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Dwarth’s hide has a grayish sheen to it- it is blue, but a more metallic shade of it. Dashes of silver streak across his shoulders like highlights and his wing-membranes seem more silver-gray than blue when the light shines on them right. He is a large Blue at 28 meters. Personality: Dwarth is an impatient and grumpy Blue. He never seems to like the choices anyone makes unless they are his but often gets himself into situations that his decisions really have no effect but to occasionally make things worse. He doesn’t like losing and easily grows angry when anything the slightest bit bad happens to him. Dwarth is not the type to really get close to anyone except his rider, maybe. Color Code: cadetblue or 5F9E80 Rider: D’ian

Meagen's eyes closed as she sighed and she watched the impressions, her heart falling. Her eyes opened as she felt a rush of air around her knees. Her eyes turned to look down as she stared into those whirling eyes. Suddenly painful stabbing pain in her stomach. MeagenMine, is this the world? Can Toath have some food now? It’s been an awful long time in that shell. The voice entered her mind and she stared down in awe. How was it possible, she didn't LIKE girls like that... thats the only time women impressed browns... right?
Meagenmine, I chose you! come on... I dont' care who you like boys girls or animals! I am hungry... He stopped a moment to stare up at her. Am I better looking then the other browns? The other hatchlings... He asked lightly. Meagen's attention was drawn towards him as she stopped walking. "You are better looking then any dragon... you are mine..." She said softly. She got her wish she impressed, but somehow she still had the longing for something more. She would just have to shove life and children from her life. Being impressed to a brown kind of limited those possibilities. "Let's get you food... come on..." She whispered as she walked over to the others and settled down, feeding her partner.
Something thrilled in her though, to notice she impressed higher then Damian, nod... D'mian... Thank the first egg of Faranth.

The girl was in her favorite spot overlooking the whole Weyr. This was her favorite spot for the express reason because she could see everything. All of the Flights, fire-lizard or other… all of the going-ons in the Weyr, and everything that she wanted to see. Nowadays all she really wanted to see was the candidates hurrying toward the eggs. She knew she would most likely hear Mura start humming, or the Queen whose eggs those were tell her before she saw the candidates. Either way, she was sure that the hatching would be soon.
Besides, it had been many sevendays since she had worked up the courage to walk over to Nayarath and ask, like many of the other females, if she could touch the golden egg. The egg was small, and Zenniel knew that the Gold that hatched out of it would be small, if even a Gold. She was sure it would be some sort of Queen, though, and Zenniel was always right. Mura watched detachedly, his eyes whirring with a lighter green hue. He was suppressing his excitement for His. He knew that when he got excited, she got excited. She also drew herself farther into her shell. She didn’t know how to act.
Neither, frankly, did he. But he knew that when she reacted wrong, he reacted wrong, and vice versa. He would not show emotion until she decided to show emotion. He suppressed his urge to hum, and instead just shifted his wings a bit. He was trained well, though most of the times it did not look like he was. He chirped an inquiring note in her ear. She, giggling from the tickle of his small muzzle, shook her head.
“Not yet, Mura.” She cooed to him. “I’m not sure if I want any dragon yet.”
Horrified, Mura slapped the girl’s back with his tail. How could she say such a thing? Impressing to dragons and fire-lizards was the best thing any human could do, and even this small, shy, and forgetful fire-lizard knew that! The tiny Bronze shrugged away from her grasp. She was trying to hold him, to calm him down. He raked his claws against her hands, not drawing blood but giving her an idea of how he felt. His eyes were clouded with a dark red, and though he crooned for the hatching dragonets, he would not go without His.
Zenniel stared at him, horrified. Then she realized that he would not let her stay here, in her safe zone, when eggs were hatching. He would see her down there, on the warm sands, or he would flay her hands. She knew the easier way of keeping herself alive. She would go down to the sands, no matter how scared she was. She heard that she had been Searched just because she was shy. She had heard that her Searcher’s dragon had played a joke on her and had Searched her just to see if a dragon would Impress itself to a shy person. She had disliked that rider and dragon, but had forgiven them, knowing that soon, if her shyness did not overtake her, she would be a rider.
That soon was now, and yet she was not ready. Thoughts raced through her mind, and she was barely able to cope. How was she supposed to Impress a dragon, and take care of it, when she couldn’t even take care of herself? The Candidatemaster had said that once a dragon is Impressed to his or her rider, the rider’s fears are whisked away into nothingness. Zenniel had poorly wished that were so, because right now she was thinking of so many things that her mind would not rest. She almost fell off the cliff-face, only closely avoiding doing so. Most of the candidates, if not all, she noticed, were already heading to the sands. How quickly those candidates moved. Of course, Zenniel thought, dragons did not wait for anyone.
Zenniel still had to run to the female candidate barracks, throw on her robe, and put on the sandals that were made especially for this occasion. She had been practicing on the sand out of the eyes of Nayarath, her rider, and her mate (along with her mate’s rider) for nearly a sevenday. Her feet had gotten used to the sand’s hot temperature, and so she believed that she would not to what many called the ‘sand dance’ or the ‘hot step.’
She raced to the candidate barracks, and hoped this was the last time she needed to see them. She sorely wished she would be done with them after today, but knew only the dragons knew who their riders were. Sometimes, she knew, the dragons didn’t even know who their riders were. The dragons just chose. Zenniel kicked off her boots, knowing a drudge would probably straighten them up before heading to the hatching, and shrugged off her over-jacket. She wore two jackets and an undershirt. The undershirt was a sort of light, forest green, the under-jacket was a three-quarter length jacket that was made out of a light material and was a shade darker than the undershirt. The over-jacket was a dark material that looked like it once could have been Wherry-hide. She didn’t know what it was, truth be told. She pulled one arm through her white robe, which had been hanging from a sort of hangar so no wrinkles would form in the cloth. The cloth was made of a light fabric, which helped her skin feel the breeze, but nothing could help the stifling heat of the Hatching Sands. She fumbled aimlessly for the other sleeve until Mura, no longer mad with His, helped her. Then, mumbling thanks, she tied the sash in a semi-fashionable way, and sat on her bed. Next were the sandals, which had, from her frequent pillages to the Hatching Sands, seen some use. She threaded the ends together expertly and stood up. Mura chirped an exultant tone, and Zenniel was done dressing.
She briskly made her way over to the Hatching Sands, and felt a moment of fear intermingled with surprise as she saw how many people were there. Not just the stands, but the candidates! She didn’t remember all of them at the egg touching. There were only some eggs, which meant she had a higher chance of---NO! She must not think like that! Swallowing down her fear, and readjusting her sash, she bowed quickly, but politely, to the Queen and her rider, for these were their eggs, and took her place among the female candidates. Fear rose up inside her, but was instantly quelled by surprise to see egg shells already strewn across the sands. The dragons, indeed, waited for no one.
