There was...no gold. Only a violet, and it made its choice. Gwenduinne stepped back, but remained there, frozen. She was tempted to leave the Sands, and only her sense of duty held her fast.
No gold. She had only come here for that gold, and all she could hope for now was that she would not Impress, would be able to try again next time there was a gold egg. Would they force her to stand for other Hatchings?
Would the fair, honest, honorable thing to do be to drop out of Candidacy and focus on being the best cook at the Weyr...something where whether she succeeded or failed would be her own skill not fickle dragons.
Hopefully nobody saw the tear that rolled down her cheek, sheer disappointment taking over before the Hatching was even ended.

I'm late, I'm late, Shards - I'm late.
These words drummed a tattoo in the cerrebulum of Reiver. He was pulling on a scratchy, white robe wwhile balancing on one foot. He was trying to pull it up over his legs and up that way, but so far no good. As another hum filled the room, and his eardrums, he jumped and nearly fell onto his behind. Letting the robe fall, he went with the orginal plan of pulling the robe over his head.
Frowning, he pulled it over his frizzy, dreaded hair; as though he was to mess up the epitome of mess. He slid on his sandals and clipclopped down the hall, rubbing sleep out of his eye with a corner of his bedsheet-esque dress.
Nearing the grounds, he got stuck in a traffic jam in the halls. Apparently everyone wanted to be there, aside from the people who needed to be there. Inhaling, Reiver bit back things that were disrespectful and would get him punished later. After a few moments he furrowed his brow and pushed his way through, remembering to say a few curt “Sorry! Excuse me!,” out to the crowd. A sandal slid off his foot, and he sighed and retrieved it, only to be almost trampled.
As the grounds became closer he felt the meatroll and klah he had as a meal an hour previous do a divebomb in his stomach. He walked into the heat of the sands, causing him to have a reason outside of nervousness to sweat. He swallowed hard, and felt his throat dry from any other candidates fear. Rejection, from the beautiful little beasts that have already begun to pair off.
Seeing only eggs and no more hatchlings wandering about he gave a respectful bow to queen and made off to his semi-circle.

Again, with all the hatchings. Did they just want at least one person to skip over a few details? For that was certainly happening with Beka, struggling to keep up with the rapid hatchings and Impressions. The gilt egg had hatched it's queen, and the violet had run off to a girl Beka didn't know - not surprising considering she didn't reallt know anyone - and obviously seemed pleased. Then there were just... Too many to list mentally.
Green, borwn, blue, bronze. Ugh, way too many. Every single candidate - what were they called after Impression? - had that same look of utter bliss, of finding something so... Beautiful. Not one of them made a complaint if what they Impressed wasn't what they expected or wanted, it was that pure... Feeling. It started off an ache, these people would know two forms of love, family and then this, what ever Impression was. What ever made them so important.
No matter how they tried to explain the bond, Beka just couldn't understand wanting to be with someone that much. Her whole life had been speant running away from people. There couldn't be long to go, not with so much happening at one time, she'd walk off with the others deemed unacceptable, and maybe that rider would see a mistake.
*
Two blues, oh Shards. D'nor's eyes instantly went to Zadari's face, which -if at all possible - had just lost more colour. Her eyes were beginning to take on a pained panicked look and D'nor almost, almost felt guilty for dragging her here. The way her eyes barely seemed to move once the blues had hatched, and she stilled. Was she even breathing. Bending closer, it was easy to tell she was, just barely. "Zads..." A warning note entered his voice, it would do no one any good if she went into hysterics. "I'm... Fine." She managed to choke the words out, hands clenched tightly enough that her knuckles were white. There was only so much of this coudl take.
"Let me... Leave... Now! I don't... I don't care if ... If Kora hates me. Just... let me go." Her words weren't clear, coming out as more of a mumbled mesh as she fought the instinct to flee such a painful memory. All of it was just becoming far too much right now. "No. Zadari, you have to stay till the end, you came and now you have to wait it out." "But-" "No." "D'nor... This is killing me." "I know, and trust me, I feel bad. Just ten more eggs"

To bring everyone up to date I thought to write this up!!!
Violet – 1 Bronze – 3 Tan - 3 Brown –2 Blue – 3 Green - 4
16 eggs have hatched! 10 to go!
Gilt Egg: Violet Jorindath Clash Egg: Bronze Jacklith Mercury Egg: The Mercury egg is very small, although not the smallest in the clutch. Its shell is covered with many shades of silver, some whiter and some grayer. In no place is its shade totally solid. Leaf Egg: Green Peath Stream Egg: The Stream egg is a very light silvery-blue and its round base is a darker, mossy shade. Rivulets of darker and lighter blues run across its surface, very much giving the egg the appearance of water. Ocean Egg: Blue Dwarth Pale Egg: The Pale egg is a very light shade of peach, touched with shades that seem similar to bronze or copper on its sides. Swirl Egg: Tan Tindereth Glow Egg: Tan Thieth Olive Egg: Green Maideneth Copper Egg: Bronze Kayth Night Egg: The Night egg is a dark navy color, speckled with white, yellow, and faint reds as though the stars decided to reside on its shell. It is one of the smaller eggs. Talc Egg: The Talc egg is a powdery white color, like Talcum. Its surface is smoother than most eggs and sometimes feels as though it could just rub away. Leopard Egg: The Leopard egg is a tawny brown and splotched with yellow-tan spots that are lined with black. Other than the Gilt and Clash egg, it is probably the largest egg in the clutch. Grass Egg: Green Cindellath Pebble Egg: Tan Johannesth Glass Egg: The Glass egg has a silvery-white sheen, almost like that of metal. It looks delicate because of its very smooth shell and smaller size, but is as strong as any other dragon egg. Steel Egg: Blue Tinth Shadow Egg: Brown Toath Morning Egg: Blue Peasanth Spark Egg: The Spark egg is a smoky gray color and flecked with bright oranges and yellows. Spray Egg: The Spray egg has a dark green-blue base but is covered with flecks of foam white, green, black, and tan. Satin Egg: Brown Grimth Moss Egg: Green Elisth Honey Egg: The Honey egg is a dark gold-bronze-brown color, although much, much too small to be even considered a queen egg. It is, in fact, one of the smallest in the clutch. Its color has a liquid sheen to it. Oak Egg: Bronze Hanseth
AND JUST FOR FUN!!! - HOW DOES YOUR DRAGON SIZE UP? (adult sizes)
Gilt Egg: Violet Jorindath - 47m (large) =Max color size!= Clash Egg: Bronze Jacklith - 45m (large) =Max color size!= Swirl Egg: Tan Tindereth – 43m (large) =Max color size!= Copper Egg: Bronze Kayth – 43m (larger) Oak Egg: Bronze Hanseth – 41m (middle) Glow Egg: Tan Thieth-38m (middle) Shadow Egg: Brown Toath – 37m (medium-large) Satin Egg: Brown Grimth – 35m (middle) Pebble Egg: Tan Johannesth – 33m (small) Ocean Egg: Blue Dwarth – 28 (large) Steel Egg: Blue Tinth – 26m (middle) Moss Egg: Green Elisth – 26m (large) =Max color size!= Morning Egg: Blue Peasanth –24 (small) Leaf Egg: Green Peath –24m (slightly larger) Olive Egg: Green Maideneth – 23m (medium) Grass Egg: Green Cindellath – 22m (medium-small)

There was a short pause in the vigorous hatchings of eggs, as though the whole Sands was suddenly going silent (or at least the eggs, the audience began to whisper about the occurrence) to watch this next event. The clutch’s queen had hatched and Impressed with no trouble and not all that much excitement; perhaps even disappointment since everyone had been expecting a Gold in the Gilt egg and a Violet in the Clash egg. The movement of a glistening silver egg was quite sudden- a fragment of shell practically exploded from near the base of the egg, followed by the paw that had apparently caused the piece to burst off so violently. From there, the Mercury egg began to shake and roll violently, before finally smashing into the nearby Talc egg and falling apart. The Talc egg, probably not surprisingly because of its powdery-seeming exterior, crumbled lightly. Both eggs revealed two very pale green dragons with bright violet stripes. One curled from behind each eye, another ran down the necks of each hatchling, then split into two stripes at the back and continued down the tail. The larger of the pair stood up, shaking her head and snorting with surprise. Her eyes were tinged with yellow as she looked nervously around this new world she had just entered into. The smaller scrambled to her feet and pressed against her larger Green sister, appearing very frightened. The larger turned and nuzzled the smaller one, then started carefully towards the Candidates. She didn’t seem quite sure which side to head to at first, but finally decided on the females and her sister followed quite determinedly. The way the smaller Green pressed against her sister’s side was very much like a newborn runnerbeast following its mother around. The only difference was these were both newborn, and dragons. The larger Green occasionally paused and turned to look at her sister, helping her up when she stumbled and looking very encouraging even if no-one could know if they were conversing at all((not even Nixsha, these babies haven’t Impressed yet so I don’t believe someone could hear their speech. Dragons need to have secrets sometime in their life…)) Finally they made it to the line of girls and the larger Green stood very still, looking over each girl from a vantage point near the center of the group. Finally, probably taking her sister by surprise, the dragonet bounded forwards, skidding to a stop just in front of Rebekah. Oh Rebekah, Mermaiyeth is new to this world in many ways. But I believe those many ways can wait, for now I am hungry. She looked up at the pale girl imploringly, but never actually touched her. The smaller Green whimpered softly, not liking that her sister had left her so suddenly, and stumbled forwards in search of comfort. Her larger clutch-sister had found a lifemate, surely she could too? This smaller dragonet seemed to be having much more trouble than the first though. She searched the line of girls several times, and even finally took a short round through the boys, before returning to the female side and settling before Amarnakafymrityna. Amarna, for I think I’d like to call you that now, your name is much too long, my sister tells me we are not Greens but Barreds or something like that and Holleth is very frightened and not sure! Is she right?~~~~~~~~~~ Dragon Name and Color: Barred Mermaiyeth Name Origin: In ‘The Little Mermaid’, a young mermaid princess made a deal with a sea-witch and ended up turning into sea-foam because the prince she wanted to love her didn’t marry her. (In the original, she had no name. Ariel is Disney’s.) Age: Hatchling Appearance: Like her sister Holleth, Mermaiyeth’s hide is a silvery-green, but still more green than silver. Her color is a bit darker than Holleth’s though, causing even more confusion than her sister over what kind of dragon she really is. But her vibrant violet markings remain the same. At 27 meters in length, Mermaiyeth is a large Barred. Personality: Mermaiyeth is much more sure about her color than Holleth and makes sure everyone knows that. If anyone calls her a Green, she is offended and will correct them herself or make her rider if it’s a person she can’t communicate with herself. Just as she is very firm about her coloring, Mermaiyeth is strict in anything else and doesn’t allow much lenience from anyone in her vicinity. Color Code: palegreen or 98FB98 Rider: RebekahDragon Name and Color: Barred Holleth Name Origin: An old woman in ‘Mother Holle’, she had girls do chores for her and repaid them as they deserved before returning them to their home. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Holleth’s hide is a very, very light silver-green color, leaning more towards green. Like all Barred dragons, the stripes around her eyes, down her back, and on the bottom of her neck are a deep violet shade that stand out a lot from her light hide. Holleth is a small Barred, reaching only 21 meters in length. Personality: As one of the first of her color, Holleth is often mistaken for a Green because of her light hide. Some might still argue that Barred is not really even a new color, just a marking that happened to turn up on several dragons. Because of this unsurity about what kind of dragon she is, Holleth can be a bit nervous around others and seems to prefer sticking to the shadows and never making a scene of herself. If someone happens to call her a Green, she won’t correct them, as sometimes Holleth herself isn’t totally sure she isn’t. Color Code: BCEBBC Rider: Amarna

Amarna watched sadly as the Violet impressed to someone else. She had wanted a violet so badly. It was strange though when those weird colored, big greens, came out of there eggs. She liked the lighter colored one, it was prettier, and it did have a little bit of purple on it. She smiled when she heard, Amarna, for I think I’d like to call you that now, your name is much too long, my sister tells me we are not Greens but Barreds or something like that and Holleth is very frightened and not sure! Is she right? Of course you can call me Amarna. Amarna thought at her dragon, loosing herself in that rainboew swirl of impression, in the greatness and overwhelming feelings that surged through her. She smiled at gently took her new dragon off to get food, walking in a haze of delight and not noticing anything else around her.

Through all the excitement at the new odd colored greenish hatchlings, the Pale Egg cracked sideways and then lifted to reveal a dark Bronze head. As the Bronze shook off the egg shell, he was noticably smaller than some of his Bronze brothers. Still, he seemed to not be as decicive as he paced in front of about three Candidates for a good few minutes before finally nodding his head and walking up to gently butt Telat.
T'lat Mine, I'm sorry Hansth took so long. I just wanted to be sure...and my stomach won't stop growling. Can we go find some food?
The Spray Egg was the next egg to violently shake and then crack apart into four even parts. Left there standing was a rather blue Blue. He crooned to his parents, and then turned his attention to the Candidates. He looked at one or two before stopping in front of a female Candidate.
Aleyi Mine, Your Jerglith is very hungry..but can we stop over there and see what that is on the way?!
The Night Egg had been shaking for quite some time, and now finally hatched. It cracked one good time down the middle, right in half. The little dragon seemed to push it open after it cracked and then there stood a very odd Brown. He sniffed the air and headed straight for one person.
Brementh doesn't like Kellan as your name Mine, K'lan shall be your name from now on. Now, can we go get me some food, I don't like being hungry.
Dragon Name and color: Bronze Hansth Name Origin: Hans Christian Anderson was a master at fairytales and wrote many of the ones we are familiar with now. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Hansth has a slightly darker shade than his brother Jacklith, but his hide is still very bronze although with less green mixed in. Little dots of orange and brown speckle his forelegs, making him look a little muddy all the time. Hansth will be a smaller Bronze, only barely cresting 39 meters. Personality: Hansth is a bit of a worrier, definitely never one to jump to any conclusions but bad ones and is always nervous about trying new things. He tries to be polite to everyone around him, but can be intimidated by queens and bossier dragons. Hansth has a long memory too, longer than the average dragon’s, and every experience he goes through will have a life-long effect on him. Color Code: C49129 Rider: T'lat
Dragon Name and Color: Blue Jerglith Name Origin: In ‘The Seven Swabians’, Jergli was the fourth Swabian and after getting frightened by a beetle and surrendering to a rake, he fought a hare with his fellows. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Jerglith’s hide is obsessively blue. It is only one shade throughout, a very clear, semi-dark blue and has an extra sort of sheen of blue over that. When he is wet his hide seems especially bright and extra blue. Jerglith is a larger Blue at just under 29 meters in length. Personality: Jerglith can sometimes be compared to a young runnerbeast: flighty and curious about everything. He likes to play and explore, but can be frightened by the oddest things from a fire-lizard squawking to a bee buzzing a bit too near him. Large dragons don’t intimidate him unless they try to, in Jerglith’s opinion a dragon is a dragon and there is no reason to be bothered by one bigger than him since many are. But it’s the very small things that can surprise him. Color Code: mediumblue or 0000CD Rider: Aleyi
Dragon Name and Color: Brown Brementh Name Origin: A group of animals no longer wanted by their masters gathered together and went to Bremen to become musicians in ‘The Bremen Town Musicians’. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Brementh’s hide has no one color, but it seems to fade from this to that constantly. The main shade he takes up is a medium-dark brown, but its dominance in his hide is only slight. At 38 meters in length, Brementh is a large Brown. Personality: A very down-to-earth dragon, Brementh is the type who will always look before he leaps and never seems to take any chances at all. If he could avoid it, Brementh would probably not fly Thread since that is probably the only real risk he ever takes. His wariness usually keeps him from getting to badly hurt while he chases Thread though, luckily. Color Code: 63461E Rider: K'lan

Hello L’noen Mine, can we go find some food? Peasanth doesn’t want to wait around for the bigger ones to hatch.
Lanoen looked down, surprised, as the small slate Blue came up to him and a voice echoed in his mind. Then, he broke into a rare, genuine smile as the joy of Impression washed over him. He looked down into Peasanth's whirling eyes, losing himself in that gaze. He was struck speechless with happiness.
Mine, are you okay? I'm hungry, Peasanth said, butting his rider in the knees. L'noen stumbled and had to hold on to his dragon to stay on his feet. That was enough to bring him back to earth, and he chuckled.
"Better than okay, Peasanth," he answered. "Let's go get you some food." He led the young Blue off the sands for his first meal.

T'lat Mine, I'm sorry Hansth took so long. I just wanted to be sure...and my stomach won't stop growling. Can we go find some food?
T'lat when he saw the little bronze come up to him and heard it's voice in his mind he could not believe what he seeing. He thought to himself This can't be possible. Then he heard Hansth voice say to him Oh but it is Mine. You are Mine and I am yours. T'lat just stared into Hansth's eyes which where filled with such love for him and he knew at that moment that all the loneliness that he had felt before was gone. He would never be lonely again. He felt a happiness he had never felt in his entire life. He looked down at Hansth and said to him Alright my friend lets go get you some food. He then guided the little bronze off to get some feeling for the first that he had someone in his life that was his true friend and fully understood him. He felt true happiness unlike never before at that moment.

Two greens, with strange stripes, they seemed so... dependant on each other. The larger of teh two reassuring the smaller, it was kind of cute to watch. Then one of them was bounding forwards, to whom? A glane around before Beka stumbled back slightly as the greenish dragonet came to a stop infront of her. Oh Rebekah, Mermaiyeth is new to this world in many ways. But I believe those many ways can wait, for now I am hungry.
Glancing down, Beka nearly took another step back at the words, her name. She'd said her name. How did she kno- Why should I not know? You are Mine, should I not know Mine's name? Mermaiyeth seemed confused by that, giving Beka a look that clearly wondered at her thoughts. Silly Hers, why wouldn't she know who was Hers? "But- No, th-this isn't happening." How could she be so lucky? There was no way that this beautiful creature belonged with her. No, it was a dream, she would open her eyes and realise that any moment.
Your eyes are open BekaMine. Mermaiyeth is yours. Always yours. Hers just really wasn't understanding, which was very odd, did she not want her? It was a sad thought but she had to know. Stepping forward slightly, she touched her muzzle toBeka's hand, crooning softly to reassure her when she jumped. I'll not hurt you my BekaMine. I am hungry though. Just slip in a little reminder there. "O-oh..." She was real, she really was there. Those feelings, sudden love, tenderness and protectiveness, they were really real... Bending down slightly, she wrapped her arms around the green- Barred. Not green. Fine, around her barred dragonet, pressing her face close to her soft hide. "F-food. Of course. Come on... Mermaiyeth.." Mermaiyeth instantly turned at that, pressing her head up under Beka's hand as though wanting to remain in contact. This way, hers wouldn't think her a dream.
{OMG SQUEEE I love her! Thank you Sparrow, and Nick! Zaddy's still freaking out, I'd post but I gotta go school <333333}

Ki, are you seeing what I'm seeing?
The grey eyes narrowed and she settled deeper in the arms of her dragon. "I'm not intoxicated, am I?"
No.
The rider nodded, surprise finally scrawling across her face. "Then yes. We did just see a violet barred green. Huh. And what do you think the Leopard Egg holds?"
Possibly a bronze or a tan.
"Why not another queen?"
Don't you think Nayarath would have positioned it a little closer?
"...Good point."
--------------------
Sabine applauded with the rest of the Weyr, adding her ooh's and aah's at the appropriate places. She found it funny, however, that standing down here made everything look like it was going so fast. The view from the Stands, however, had made the pace seem normal, almost slow at times. It would have played out like a story from up in the crowd, but down here, it was like wherries flying for safety. The thought brought a smile to her lips, even though several of the Greens' actions reminded her of Nikaith.
Nikaith.
Mother.
I wish you were here, Mother.
She wouldn't know what she would do if she Impressed a Green. It would be too much of a reminder- Enough. You'll be lucky if you Impress at all. She hadn't enjoyed the path her thoughts had taken, so she put an end to them. If she Impressed, she Impressed.
{Note: These are NOT my personal feelings about what she Impresses. I'm just playing off of her personality, her recent history, and how she has dealt with said history. Again, these are NOT my personal thoughts. >_>}

K'in K'in was a little surprised when the second healer came to him, but he didn't let it show on this face. He hated feeling this weak and, the sooner he felt his strength return, the better. He could tell that the little Tan was worried about him and he wished there was something more he could do to help calm the Tan, but he knew that all he could do was feed him and let the healers take care of his wounds. It was a wonder that he could even feed the dragon as the second healer started to get to work on his upper arm and chest. He could feel the effects of the numbweed almost instantly, forcing him to place the bowl of meat on the ground and use one hand to feed the dragonet.
Tindereth crooned softly to his as he ate and tried to make his rider feel better with his closeness. He was pleased to see that another healer had came to help his K'in and he didn't try to hide the fact as he stopped eating for a moment to nuzzled the new healer's arm thankfully. Returning to his food, Tindereth started to think of ways that he could possibly make his feel better at least a little bit. The only thing the little dragon could think of though, was talking to his. Yes! That was a brilliant idea he would comfort his with words! The dragon thought to himself as he though about what he should say and then he crooned, I am sorry you got hurt Mine, but now you have battle wounds to show off to all of the pretty women of the Weyr? Isn't that a good thing K'in-mine? Doesn't that make you happy? Things could have been worse... At least you impressed such a handsome dragon as I! Do you not think your Tindereth is handsome mine?
As he spoke to his bonded, Tindereth just caught the voice of the healer in his head again as she talked to him. He was relieved when the healer said that his would be alright and he understood that the healer had other to attend to. Though he had been worrying over his, he had not missed when his Green clutch sister ran into her's and injured her's arm. He couldn't help but think that Nixsha was a pretty name as he replied, Thank you for attending to mine's leg wound, Nixsha. If there is anything wrong with my K'in, I will be sure to call for you.
K'in couldn't help the light chuckle that came from his lips when he heard his dragon's words, but his chuckles didn't seem to hurt now that the numbweed was numbing the pain in his chest. He had to admit that he was liking his Tindereth more and more by the second. Not that he hadn't liked the little dragonet before! He was just starting to feel like turn into unwavering love for the Tan. Yes, you are very handsome Tindereth and yes, it is something to show women. But I am not so sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. K'in replied to the dragon, using their mental connection as he turned his attention back to the healer who had finished stitching him up. She was now talking to the other healer that had came to help him. She was leaving? And just when he realized how pretty she was? Shards... He was definitely NOT having any luck today... besides impressing his Tindereth that is.
I guess that makes me the luckiest young man in the world then, K'in thought to himself as he smiled up at his Tindereth. He hadn't expected a answer to this thought, but Tindereth decided to give him one anyways, Yes, you are the luckiest man on Pern for you have impressed me and I am very handsome and, now, very full. Will you please stop feeding me before you make me nice and fat? K'in couldn't help but laugh at this, but he completely agreed with his Tindereth and he made sure the dragon knew it. He pushed the, almost empty bowl to the side after his dragon said he was full and he began to scratch the dragon's eye-ridges lovingly after he was done. Yes, he was defiantly falling in love with the little tan and there was no hiding it.
It wasn't long after the healer had left that she returned and K'in couldn't help but smile at this. Look at this Tindereth, the masterhealer has returned. I guess she just couldn't stand being away from me for so long, he thought to his dragon jokingly and was pleased to hear a rumble of laughter come from Tindereth. He was happy his dragon had a sense of humor. He had a feeling that that would just make things better for the two of them. Turning his attention back to what was going on, K'in listen as the masterhealer gave the other healer orders.
So the other Healer is Tirasha? She doesn't seem so bad looking either, he thought as he examined her. He could hear his dragon's rumbling laughter again as he did this and he was pleased that he had made the dragon laugh again. He enjoyed the dragons laughter and he was not about to hide the fact. K'in was surprised at how flirtatious his mind was being as he thought these things and felt his attraction to these female. He usually didn't think these thing until after he got to know someone... Maybe it had something to do with his injuries? Maybe the numbweed was numbing his brains? What ever the reason, he really didn't seem to mind it all that much.
When the healer asked if he understood what she had said, K'in nodded and said, "Whatever you say masterhealer." He could see no sense in arguing the point with her. After all, it did mean that he would be able to see the pretty Healer Tirasha again. And not just once, but many times. He could see no down side to that. Plus, K'in liked being clean. He didn't like smelling of dirt and other unknown things. He found it rather unattractive for people to walk around smelling like herdbeasts and, though he couldn't help it sometimes himself, he did his best to not smell like one.
Turning his attentions back to the other beautiful healer, K'in gave her a lopsided grin when she said that she would send her fire-lizards after him if he didn't listen. Oh yes, he was definitely starting to like this one. He thought to himself as he said, "Then I might just decide to be hunted." He was a little surprised that that had came from his mouth, but it really didn't matter now that he had said it. It was to late to take it back now... And to be frank, he didn't want to take it back.
((I will be posting as the other three tomorrow... Sorry I couldn't do them today. I ran out of time before bed.))

Darshan could only watch the Impressions with detached indifference and pretend that his stomach wasn't in knots. With each and every new hatchling (and the resulting Impression), he felt the ache hit deeper as he realized that there was one egg less, one less hope to cling to.
This was ridiculous. He didn't need to Impress, but shards, he wanted to. He had a plan for his life, and he kept telling himself that a dragonet would only mess with his plan; then why did it hurt so bad to see each hatchling breeze on past?
There were five eggs left. Only five, and as far as Darshan could see there were six candidates left. One of them would not Impress... At this point, he was being irrational and selfish. And it was selfish to wish that one of the younger candidates didn't Impress, just because they were younger and they would have another chance to stand while he would not.
Darshan hated this endless waiting--it only led to his being dragged into the mess of self-pity and self-doubt that he tried to avoid if at all possible. If he wasn't meant to Impress, he would rather be told about it beforehand. But dragon hatchings didn't work that way, so there was nothing to do now but stand there and try not to get his hopes up too much.

Ash'n Ash'n, who had been silently watching all of the impressions so far, couldn't miss the voice of his own dragon in his head as he looked about to see the little green hatchling running at him. She seemed too knew that he was just the one for her, even before hatching and, even though the little green was female, he couldn't help but love the fact that someone wanted him and loved him before they had ever even met. It made him feel like he was actually loved for what he was and no what others wanted him to be.
He could feel tears of happiness come to his eyes as the little dragon ran up to him cheerfully and grabbed on to his robes with it's mouth. Come on Ash'nMine! It is a race! Do you want to loss? To the food Mine! To the food! Your Peath hungers and wants to race you to the food! the voice of his Peath called out to him as she gave the fabric in her mouth a little tug. It was apparent that this little girl when exactly what she wanted and how she wanted to get it.
With a little laugh of amusement, Ash'n brushed away his tear with the back of his hand and said, "Alright alright, I will race you to the food my beautiful Peath." And with that he and his dragon raced forward in the sand. He could feel the burning sensation of sand hitting his feet as he did so, but that all seemed to be trivial to the feeling of happiness and love he now felt as he dodged dragon, egg, and candidate alike with HIS dragon at his side. He knew that he was most likely going to be in for it when the hatching was over, but that also seemed to be trivial in comparison to how he was feeling now.

D'ian D'ian, who had been watching Meagen very closely, was NOT amused when he saw a little brown dragon run up to her. Brown? I didn't know she was that way... Now wonder why she claimed rape, He thought to himself. But, as he did, it still didn't seem to make any sense. He knew that she had had feeling for him when they were together... There was no way she could be lesbian! ...Was there? It was at this moment that realization struck him like a hammer to the head. He could no longer touch her! Impressed to a brown as she was now, the only way he could ever have her was if he impressed to a Green and he knew all to well that he would be impressing to a bronze. There was just simply no other color for him! Did that mean that he could no longer have his Meagen? He didn't know, but he didn't like to possibility that this might be true now that he when she was a lesbian... He didn't care what she was! Lesbian or not, she was his! The only thing he could say at the moment was, he hated that Brown for impressing his Meagen!
It was at that moment he realized that the blue, that had been almost toppled over by the brown, was walking up to him. Then he heard a voice in his mind that he didn't want to hear. D’ianMine, Your Dwarth doesn’t like that Brown too much. Anyway, can we go feed me now? the voice of the blue dragon standing before him said as the little dragonet seemed to sneer up at him. D'ian felt his mouth fall open in surprise as he stared at the little dragonet that stood before him. To put it frankly, he mortified. He had impressed a blue? How could that be! It wasn't possible! He was supposed to impress a bronze! A BRONZE!!!
Dwarth's eyes flashed orange as he glared at the man he had impressed to. Hadn't the other heard him? He was hungry and he wanted to be feed NOW! What are you staring at Mine? Have you never seen a Blue dragon such as me before? Whatever the reason maybe, I would like it if you would get that unintelligent look off your face and feed me. I hunger and you will feed me! He could hear what his was thinking, but he didn't really care. He was as good as any bronze dragon was and he didn't need his to think it to think it himself. All he knew was if his didn't hurry up and feed him, he was going to bite him. He didn't care how wrong it was! He was hungry and he didn't want to wait for his to get over the shock of impressing him to eat.
D'ian surprise quickly turned to anger as he heard the dragon's words. How rude and irritating this dragon was! Did he not know who he was talking to? No one talked to D'ian like that! Glaring at the dragon in turn, D'ian said the only thing that came to mind, "You are not my Bronze! Go to someone else you rude, obnoxious little blue!" His dislike that he had impressed the blue was apparent in his voice and face as he glared at the little dragonet, who glared right back at him unwaveringly. It was apparent that the little blue wasn't going to change his mind anytime soon. He had chosen the person who he was best for and he didn't care if the little knit didn't like him! He was going to get food even if he had to drag the man there by his hand! With that thought in mind, the blue walked over to the young man's hand and bite down on it. I eat now and we bicker later Mine! the dragon said as he gave the hand a little pull in the direction of the smell of food.
"Ouch!!! Let me go you brute! Let me go!" D'ian screamed in pain as the dragon latched on to his hand and started to lead him towards the food. That was one thing he had not been expecting. Of all the things the dragon could have done, it bite him! The dragon bite him! His dragon bite him! Those were the only things the shocked mind of D'ian could think as he let the dragon pull him onward so as not to let the wound get worse. His poor hand! First it gets burnt by the hatching sands and now this? Shards he hated life sometimes....
((Sorry, it was the only thing I could think of. -sweatdrop-))

Finally. Aleyi had waited nearly the whole Hatching to Impress… at least it was a lovely Blue. What over there? The only thing she saw were other Candidates tending to their dragons or getting tended to themselves. The boy with the Tan and the redhead?Aleyi looked, frowned, and shook her head. I don’t think Healers like being interrupted. At least the ones back at home hadn’t… she doubted they would be different here. We can meet them later. She rubbed Jerglith’s eye ridge. A Blue! Just as she had dreamed… If I can’t go meet them we shall go eat then?Of course! Aleyi skipped happily towards where other newly Impressed Weyrlings were to feed her new Blue. ((wtf… I have no ideas for a post for her. >.<)) ~~~~~~ Tirasha raised her eyebrows. “I would say no to that until your leg is better.” Running from flitts wasn’t quite possible anyways, and with a hurt leg? Tirasha was about done with the Weyrling for now, and was feeling quite relieved about it too. There had been moments where she felt like she was the one being inspected, which she didn’t like. “There. Willow’ll come hunt you down tomorrow.” Tirasha doubted he would be going anywhere far from the Weyrling barracks, but the fire-lizard could find her. A boy and a dragonet would be much easier than a tiny and insane Green fire-lizard, which was what the Bronze usually had to go searching for. She stepped back and motioned towards the food. “Be careful for now, don’t move to much or you could tear the stitches or reopen injuries. And make sure Tindereth is careful too;make him chew everything he eats, oil him whenever he asks…” She shouldn’t be the one telling him this, but figured it was alright seeing as she was giving orders already. “In checking on you I’ll probably be seeing him too.” And other dragonets… the Weyrlings had better watch out if they feel like being lazy. ~~~~~~ Nayarath glared at the boy now shouting at the Blue who chose him. Dragons chose the one right for them, and she hadn’t liked this boy from the start. That one of her young had actually picked him surprised her. Apparently a mother’s feelings towards a person didn’t affect those of her young. Perhaps she wouldn’t like the little Blue either, son or not. With only five eggs left to hatch, Candidates were probably growing nervous. There were seven left anyways, not everyone could Impress. But the dragons knew which ones to choose, and hopefully those left would have another chance. For now… the Leopard egg was hatching. A smallish Brown extracted himself from the shards and looked around. There was so much noise, and so many people! He looked a little intimidated by it all and ran towards the Candidates. It didn’t take long for him to find His, he ran straight to Mieran and sat down. M’ran, I have found you! Firth is hungry, will you please feed me? The Glass egg was now beginning to wobble, pale cracks spreading over its mirror-like surface. Finally a small green head poked out, followed by the rest of the female as her egg shattered. This Green was a very small one, looking as delicate as the egg she had just hatched from. But she knew who she wanted to go to. Nervous steps carried her across the Sands and towards a girl who looked almost as frightened as she was. Mine, Maiath is frightened by how you seem hardly to be breathing. Perhaps you could try again for me? The tiny Green had found Zadari. The Stream and Spark eggs were shaking violently, as they had been for some time, and finally collided and broke each other apart. A Brown tumbled from the Spark egg and snarled at the silvery dragon who had fallen from the smaller Stream egg. This one appeared to be another Barred, for bright violet stripes marked her hide too, even though she was much more silver than her sisters had been. The Barred didn’t seem at all intimidated though, she bounced to her feet, nuzzled her clutch-brother, and then bounded off towards the female Candidates. It didn’t take long for her to stop in front of Sabine. Look SabineMine, look! I have hatched! Aren’t I beautiful? You are very beautiful to you know. But even more than I am beautiful, I am hungry. Is there food about? Faladath is hungry! The Brown snorted as his sister bounded off and started towards the male Candidates. He walked almost with the air of a Bronze, proud and with a powerful stride. His walk was cut short when a foot decided to go the wrong direction, causing the Brown to trip and fall forwards on his chest. He got up, looking around nervously and probably hoping somehow no-one had seen, and dashed to Darshan. D’rshan, Princth is hungry. He apparently hadn’t had a lot to say just then… but it was what was vital wasn’t it? Now there was only one egg left to hatch, the small Honey egg. It was shivering slightly, its liquid gold shell seeming only to vibrate a little, not shake vigorously as the other eggs had. But finally a crack appeared at the top, and it branched out down the sides of the egg until the golden shell split right down the middle to reveal a Green. She stood slowly, looked around, and started towards the Candidates. That a Green could be the finale to a Hatching… she was probably excited about that even though she didn’t show it. The Green took her time inspecting every Candidate before finally stopping in front of a tall girl. Nightingalath is very happy to have found her lifemate, Kayla.~~~~~~ Dragon Name and Color: Brown Firth Name Origin: In ‘The Fir-tree’, a tiny fir tree dreams of growing big and tall. It never does, but ends up becoming a Christmas tree. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Firth’s hide is the color of tree trunks, a good strong brown and touched with many shades that give him a sort of rough appearance. Little streaks of lighter and darker browns, blacks, and specks of light tan, are all over him. Firth is a medium-small Brown at just over 33 meters. Personality: Firth is a dragon who dreams big although he is on the small range of Browns. Nothing on Pern could ever hold him back from achieving any goal he wants to make except maybe genetics and he won’t let anyone he knows ever give up on a goal either. An optimistic dragon throughout, he is always encouraging everyone (including himself) to do its best and keep going no matter what. Color Code: 8A6E48 Rider: M’ranDragon Name and Color: Green Maiath Name Origin: A tiny girl in ‘Thumbykin’ (know by most as Thumbelina), she slept in a walnut shell, nearly married a frog and a mole, saved a bird, and finally married a flower-elf prince who renamed her Maia since he didn’t like Thumbykin. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Everything about Maiath is dainty and slender. She has a very delicate build, although she is stronger than she looks, and her color has a porcelain shine to it. Maiath’s slender paws are a lighter shade than the rest of her, although overall Maiath’s hide is the same color. Maiath is a very small Green at only 19 meters. Personality: Maiath is a shy Green. She isn’t imbued with the usual energy of a Green, but would rather hold still, hang back, avoid notice. Small as she is, she often curls into an even smaller ball to hide herself and doesn’t talk very much at all. Once her rider gets her up in the air though, she is a very agile flyer and is able to pull a variety of tricks many other dragons couldn’t ever do and with a grace practically no dragon could ever manage. Color Code: 78D971 Rider: ZadariDragon Name and Color: Barred Faladath Name Origin: The talking horse from ‘The Goose-girl’ was named Falada. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Unlike her sisters who are more green than silver, Faladath is more silver. Her markings, of course, are a deep purple, but otherwise she is a very silver-green color maybe similar to a brook that runs over very mossy rocks. She is a middle-sized Barred, just barely reaching 25 meters in length. Personality: Faladath likes to talk. She doesn’t have excess energy for anything else, as she always seems to use it up saying everything she can possibly think of to say. Her ongoing speech is often questions, but she rarely leaves space in between each one for an answer- mostly she just likes to hear the sound of her own voice. All of her telepathic speech is accompanied by noises of some sort, as much as she likes hearing herself talk in the minds of others, it is even better to hear herself making noises out loud. The only time she is really quiet is when she is asleep, and when she wakes up she is sure to have plenty to say about her dreams or lots of questions about what happened while she was sleeping. Color Code: D5EBDA Rider: SabineDragon Name and Color: Brown Princth Name Origin: Every fairytale needs a handsome prince to save the day! Age: Hatchling Appearance: Princth has a lighter hide and could probably be counted as a Tan if he had any of their markings. Rather, he has a marking at the base of his neck that is shaped about like a saddle and makes it look as though he is always wearing one, or at least has a saddle’s shadow on his back. He is a small Brown at 31 meters in length. Personality: Princth likes to be the hero in all situations and is a natural-born leader. He is always ready to help someone out (especially females he could potentially become the mate of) and take control of any situation that doesn’t already have a leader. (And if he doesn’t like the current leader, he still might try to take over.) He is fast at making decisions and has an innate ability to usually make good ones and usually impatient to follow them. Sometimes Princth will even try to take control of his rider’s decisions and lead the pair in everything they do. Color Code: peru or CD853F Rider: D’rshanDragon Name and Color: Green Nightingalath (Night-in-gaal-ath) Name Origin: A nightingale’s singing saved a Chinese emperor in ‘The Nightengale’. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Nightingalath hide is a medium-light green overall, although touched with brighter greens and the occasional streak of yellow across her back. The skin around Nightingalath’s eyes is darker than the rest of her hide, either making her look tired or slightly mysterious. She is a middle-sized Green at exactly 23 meters. Personality: Nightingalath is a surprisingly musical dragon. Every noise she makes has a special sort of tone to it and her voice is has a very clear, honey-like feel to it. Like most Greens, Nightingalath has a lot of energy doesn’t let it escape as hyperness as many Greens seem to allow too. There is a slight regality to everything she does, although Nightingalath doesn’t seem to notice it. Color Code: limegreen or 32CD32 Rider: Kayla

The five remaining eggs began to crack open, and Darshan counted two greens, two browns and another oddly-colored dragon whose hide was a silvery-green color. The silvery-colored hatchling was snarled at by a small brown, but she quickly was up and heading toward the female candidates. Cracking a feeble smile at her antics, Darshan watched the remaining dragonets carefully. He was pretty certain that he wouldn't Impress a green and was reassured of this when the two green hatchlings headed for the female candidates.
So all that was left were the browns now, one of which had run straight for a candidate that Darshan didn't know and was sitting patiently by him. Watching the remaining brown cautiously, Darshan fought to keep the disappointment at bay. The brown walked proudly, almost with the air of a bronze or a tan, but his walk was cut short as he tripped and fell. Looking around him nervously, the brown got up and ran straight at him.
The brown stopped right in front of him, his muzzle brushing against Darshan's chest, breath warm through the white candidate's robe. D’rshan, Princth is hungry.
Half in disbelief and in awe, D'rshan brushed shaking fingers across the small brown's eye ridge, feeling the smooth hide underneath his callused fingertips. Clearly impatient, the brown butted his head gently against his rider's hand, mind-voice imploring. Can we go get food now? I'm hungry after being trapped inside my egg.
D'rshan gave the brown a quizzical look, tilting his head slightly to the left. But surely you meant to Impress someone else! I'm too old; what about one of the others?
You doubt your Princth's decision? The brown tilted his head up so that he could fix both eyes on his, eyes whirling green with streaks of yellow.
Yes. D'rshan gave the brown an apologetic look, hands falling to his sides. Perhaps if he didn't touch the brown, he would be able to convince Princth that he had indeed not meant to Impress him.
Don't. The brown's mind-voice held a note of finality that D'rshan couldn't deny, and the journeyman dropped the subject. Now let us go eat. Princth led the way, ambling across the sands for a good two dragonlengths before he turned to stare at his rider. Are you coming, D'rshan?
Yes. The Glasscrafter smiled indulgently at his brown and hurried to catch up.

Kayla watched as the eggs hatched, one by one. She smiled knowing that those dragons would have great riders themselves. Soon there were only five eggs left and seven candidates which meant some people would walk out of here without impressing. She started getting nevous, then there was only one egg left. Just one egg, she knew the odds where against her. She wasn't going to give up though. Then the honey egg started vibrating and then hatched, revealing a green dragon. She smiled, the small dragon was so cute! She watched the green dragon look at all of the candidates. Then the little green dragon looked up at her and then Kayla heard a voice in her head Nightingalath is very happy to have found her lifemate, Kayla Kayla recoiled for a second. She gave the small dragon s strange look before thinking 'how did she know my name?' the small dragon said Of course I know the name of Mine. Now come Mine I am hungry, could you get me food? Kayla was shocked that the last dragon had choosen her. She smiled and nodded before getting her dragon food, finally her dream had come true.

K'lan Once K'lan found some where he could be alone, the five flitts that always seemed to be around him, flew to the rafters and left their bonded behind in the sands to impress. K'lan had to admit that he would have preferred to go with them, but he knew that he couldn't do that if he wanted to impress. If there was even the slightest possibility that he might impress, K'lan would stand on those sands until all of the dragonets impressed. How he longed to be a dragon rider. How he wished that a dragon would accept him, his past and all. But he had a feeling that he wouldn't impress. Did dragons impress those they thought would be good for the Weyr? If so, he was no good for the position.Smiling sadly, K'lan watched as the eggs hatched and people impressed before him. He clapped lightly when the violet impressed one of the girls and at a few of the other impressions, but he had gotten tired of that quickly and stopped. Plus, he didn't want to draw attention to himself. He didn't like it when people noticed him. He liked to be unnoticed in the background. At least he thought he did... He really didn't know what it felt like to be the center of attention, but he had a feeling that he wouldn't like it. Every time attention had been directed at him thus far, he had to run for his safety.
As he thought this, K'lan's thoughts had drifted away from the hatching and he didn't notice the brown hatchling that walked up to him until it spoke to him. Brementh doesn't like Kellan as your name Mine, K'lan shall be your name from now on. Now, can we go get me some food, I don't like being hungry. the brown dragonet said, pulling K'lan out of his thought completely. Turning so that he is were now looking at the brown hatchling that had spoke to him, K'lan blinked a couple of times and just stared at the dragon. It was clear that he was in shock. He had impressed a brown? He had impressed a brown! He wanted to brake down and cry right there and then, but he would never let himself do something like that. He just continued to stare at the dragon as he tried to think of something to do, something to say.
Brementh tilted his head to the side a little and looked at his strangely as he waited for his to do something, but he didn't do anything. He didn't even say anything to him. Then he realized that the boy was in shock on impressing him. A little rumble of laughter came from the dragon as he nuzzled his bonded and said, You amuse me K'lanMine, I am glad you amuse me. But I am very hungry and would really like to eat now. Don't be so surprised I bonded to you. Some dragons might consider that a insult.
K'lan snapped out of his state of shock almost instantly when the dragon finished talking and he smiled. "Alright, I'll fed you and then I will introduce you to the rest of my family," K'lan said a he reached out and touched Brementh's head to make sure he was not imagining things. The dragon just shock his head as K'lan did this and started to lead the way to the food. Yes, he was sure he had made the right choice in K'lan. He was exactly who he was looking for!

If she closed her eyes, she couldn't see anything,a nd then... then maybe it wouldn't hurt so much. She wouldn't see any more hatchlings, wouldn't see the looks directed at her, and she might be able to recover the use of her lungs. Mine, Maiath is frightened by how you seem hardly to be breathing. Perhaps you could try again for me? It was a faint whisper in her mind, just soft and quiet, but it wasn't Maiath's voice that shocked Zadari. It was the feeling of regaining something she'd lost, of being complete once again...
Opening her eyes slightly, Zadari did as she was told, drawing in a deep breath. Hers. How it was possible to feel so happy, so whole, so quickly... She wasn't sure it was possible, but with Maiath sitting on the sands down there, waiting, she couldn't really dwell on it. "Zaddy, what are you-" "She needs me." Was all she said, stumbling past D'nor as the green rider gave her an odd look. "She-" "Maiath."
Before this, she hadn't even known it was possible, that people could reImpress, wasn't the mind supposed to be such a mess that dragons couldn't find the person they wanted underneath all of it? Mine? ZaddyMine? I chose you. I saw you... You are breathing now...Yes? She took a tiny step forward, eyes whirling uncertainly as Zadari pushed her way through the others in teh Stands to her. How had she found her aomoung all those people? It didn't really matter but.. "Yes, I'm breathing. It's fine Maiath, all thanks to you." That is good. I worry for you Mine. A soft purring sound came from her as Zadari knelt to wrap her arms around her, fighting the tears she knew were wetting her cheeks. "Aren't you hungry?" ...Yes, but... You are crying. Why are you crying? Has Maiath upset you? "No, not at all sweetie. No, happy tears. I love you dearly, you could never make me cry, now, food. Come on." Well... Okay, if you're sure. I am a little hungry.
