Aleyi had been waiting for this for what felt like forever. Not just graduation, but the start of the little party thing they'd decided to have to celebrate getting out of those barracks and into weyrs. With Kelth's clutch busily nearing hatching on the sands, it was a good thing the oldest group in the weyrling barracks was getting booted out. It probably couldn't fit many more, especially with the many great big dragons that clutch had happened to hatch.
Now she and Jerglith were standing by the lake, watching the sun start to set. When would the others show up? Brooke wasn't around, she had a clutch to protect, set up all nicely somewhere far from where Aleyi would ever go. Both females seemed to realize that they didn't want to be in each others presence while the Gold was caring for eggs, Brooke surely figured Aleyi would kill them somehow, and Aleyi figured she would get killed.
But Pip and Tuck stayed with her, the pair got along with Aleyi much better than Brooke did. Now the young flitts took off, sensing Aleyi's excitement, and chattered and trumpeted to each other while starting up a game of tag over the lake.
Do you think everyone will come?
I don't see why they wouldn't. Aleyi laughed and rubbed Jerglith's eye ridges. The Blue purred softly, although now it was more like a dull, humming roar in his chest, watching for the others.

R'mer arrived in style, having let Tinth stretch his wings beforehand.
The blue came low over the lake to land on the shore, he was oiled and his harness polished to a gleam. Oh, somebody was glad of the excuse to party.
No more the fat boy, the young man who dismounted from the dragon might even be called handsome, in some lights. "Hey there, Aleyi."
He didn't ask where Brooke was, no doubt the gold was off somewhere. "Bluerider. Feels pretty good, doesn't it."
And he could even think about some of those cute greenriders, now...the one male barredrider was too young...dragon that is...and rumored to prefer women anyway.
He wouldn't mind a liaison with T'mar when *that* green came of age, though.

Aleyi grinned and trotted over to where Tinth landed, Jerglith following. "Hey! Can you believe we're the only ones here so far?" She had expected all of the graduating weyrlings to be flocking here. Jerglith scanned the Bowl again, wondering the same thing.
"Yeah, it does." Aleyi smiled. Bluerider of Pern. It sounded awesome. "And getting out of those barracks is gonna be great." It had been very crowded there, what with dragons like Jorindath taking up all the space. And new dragons would be hatching soon... wow.
"Anyone you hoping'll show up?" Aleyi elbowed R'mer playfully. "I know Jerglith's hoping for Barreds."
Hey! Jerglith's eyes whirled with color, but he didn't seem too bothered by his rider's comment. He knew who she was hoping for anyways.

R'mer laughed. "I'm more interested in the greenriders. Most of the barred riders are, well..."
Girls. Ugh. Well, not that girls were ugh, just the idea of having to bed one. "I'm just hoping for more than us."
He reached up to pat his blue's shoulder. "And sure, the two best blues are here, but..."
I don't get why mine would rather I chased greens than barreds Tinth commented to Jerglith, almost idly.
Yeah, the blue didn't quite get it. Quite. But Tinth would, of course, cheerfully chase either. They were all pretty girls, to him, even if his rider made that odd distinction.

Peasanth circled above the weyrbowl, then pulled into a small dive. L'noen hung on tight, grinning. The blue pulled up his wings near the ground and landed gracefully beside the other two blues. L'noen pulled off his helmet and jumped down, running a hand through his messy black hair.
"Hey," he said, smiling and greeting the other two blueriders laconically. "It's nice to finally be out of training, that's for sure." He had never liked lessons, really, and now he never had to be stuck in a classroom again.

"Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Tinth shares your feelings." Aleyi laughed. "And yeah, I hope everyone shows up. It'll be lots more fun that way." Pip and Tuck were here, but they were flitters, so they didn't really count. Where was Thunder?
Jerglith glanced at Tinth. Barreds are much prettier. And less insane.
"Our third arrival!" Aleyi waved to L'noen and Peasanth. People sure were coming slow. Maybe she should send Brooke to chase them all into the Bowl, the little Gold was certainly capable.
Are Blues the only ones who listen to announcements? Jerglith rumbled to his two clutch-brothers.
"We should have brought food." Aleyi glanced suddenly at Jerglith. "That's why no ones coming." Not that she and her Blue had been in charge of planning this, it just seemed like a good idea to her all oif a sudden.

Maideneth arrived before any sign of her rider, bounding in in her usual fashion to settle herself down. Mine is coming, as is Kayth and his but it was a minute or so before they finally caught up. Both Earisa and D'mas cared a tray each, one of various meatrolls and pasteries and the other of bubbly pies. Even Kayth carried something buddled up in a large sheet he carried from his mouth.
"Sorry we're late, I needed some help and we we're a little behind schedual. I thought we could use with a little food." Earisa explained. She grew up in kitchens and had been within the Weyr's since it was first created. It had taken a little pleading and a bit of work on her part though. Bronze Kitz who sat on the greenrider's shoulder was still rather proud of his catch of Brooke who was looking after their eggs.
"And I brought over some wine and other drinks." D'mas said proudly as Kayth put his bundle down. Some of the kitchen drudges found him handsome and charming, possibly because he was a young bronzerider but had offered it to him to bring. "Looks like we aren't really late anyway." Noting the amount of attendents.
Jorindath finally came over, Inolyn sliding from her neck with guitar in hand. "I wonder where the others are?..." she questioned but her mind nearly dropped the thought completely as she strumed a few chords.

R'mer shrugged. "People are clearly just in no hurry."
He thought of his weyr, *his*, to decorate as he wanted, furnish...within reason..as he wished. Privacy! He had never, in his life, had privacy. Always, he had shared sleeping quarters with somebody.
Now, all that space for himself and Tinth...until he found a weyrmate, that is, and he was in no hurry. He would, for sure, find somebody, and it was best to take time over something that important.
"So, somebody brought wine?" He'd caught that in the exchange.
Tinth, for his part, curled up by the lake, eyes whirling contented blue-green as he regarded his clutchmates.

Aleyi grinned at Earisa. "Good thing someone thouoght ahead, the thought just struck me." Tuck and Pip fluttered over at the smell of food, landing on Aleyi's shoulders and peering hopefully at the meatrolls and wondering what was in the bag the big Bronze carried. "Kitz is sure looking cheerful." How he managed that with Brooke for a mate, Aleyi had no idea.
Aleyi shook her head quickly at D'mas' comment. "I guess everyone's just taking a little while getting here." And she had bragging rights about arriving first! At the rate people were coming, that wasn't all that great, but it was something to be happy about.
Jerglith took a few uncertain steps back as Jorindath and Inolyn arrived and Aleyi gave him a cockeyed look. He didn't need to be intimidated by her, as far as she could tell. "Are you going to sing for us, Inolyn?" She had brought a guitar anyways, and most people at the Weyr knew she had an amazing voice.
N'ren and Johannesth finally arrived, maybe because now food and drinks were present, Torch and Tak in their usual places, with their usual amount of noise. "Hey guys." Johannesth quietly made his way over to the lakeside, lying down a bit away from the rest of the dragons to watch them. No reason to stand when he didn't need to, or barge in on anyone else's space. Torch, on his part, set to chattering to Pip. The Blue was well over his many previous Flight losses, it was time to get a headstart on this Green.

Earisa storked her little bronze with a finger once she finally freed her hands of the tray. "He's just being smug cause he finally caught something. Cion and Ain have each other and now he has someone to curl up with." Lonliness was a bitter friend, the young girl knew it well. It was actually nagging at in the back of her mind that now they were full fledged riders, Maideneth would rise to mate in the next few months and she had no prefference. It was a problem they would have to deal with when they got there. D'mar picked up a few skins and checked the contents. "White wine...this one's fruit juice.... another white, there's at least one red here. Grabed a bit of everything, including water." Opening a white wine he poured himself a cup before stuffing his mouth with a meatroll. "Well I thought it might be nice, though my guitar may not be quite up to standerd." Inolyn said as she kept an ear out for the strings tuning as not all were steady or just right. Still, she wasn't going to be one to disappoint; bad guitaring and all. Dragon hatch, dragon grow Dragon watch and learn Dragon young, dragon old There is thread to burn
Once clumsy, now steady Lessons are finally done Fly well, stand strong It has just begun...

T'lat was trying to be as unnoticable in his arrival as possiable. Of course flying on the back of a bronze was prolbery not the best way to do so.
As Hansth touched down near the others T'lat gave him a 'look' I told you I wanted to land somewhere so I could take my time showing up. Hansth looked back at him and said Mine you are being silly again. Remember you are my rider so you have no reason to be shy. Beside Jorindath's is here if that makes you feel alittle better. T'lat began to blush all over. Even after telling her he had liked her, she still had that affect on him.
He slipped off of Hansth and landed on the ground. He hesatied in heading towards the other's though a gentle nudge form his bronze got him moving. Though it was at a reluctent pace. He of course found his way over to Inolyn being that she was one of the few people he was not to shy to talk to. With a soft smile on his face and a blush on his cheeks he lisitined to her singing before he siad to her " Hello." Looking around he asked " Is this everyone who is coming." He hoped that it was, but knew that would probely not be the case.
He also noticed that the blue rider R'mer was there, him of course being another person that he was not to shy to talk to, though it was for differnt reasons than why he liked to talk to Inolyn. Looking over at him he said " Hello R'mer."
Hansth of course had followed behind his shy rider, though tried to make sure not to mess anything up. He was mostly trying to make sure that T'lat did not run away and hide, plus to provide support if his rider needed any. Which was usally the case in situtions such as these.

R'mer lifted a hand in signal to T'mat, then turned back. "Pour me some of that?" he asked of the one with the wine.
After all, wine was a good thing...sort of. There was food, too, and now music, courtesy of the violetrider.
No more 'ling' attached to anyone's name and title! They were all grown up. He glanced over at his dragon, a good sized blue.
"Anyone heard anything about wing assignments yet. T'lat?" After all, the tan was the latest to arrive and, thus, the most likely to have news of some kind or other.
Tinth curled a little, eyes whirling, he was in one of his quiet moods. He had no desire to be anything but a wallflower, but he was clearly a very, very content dragon.

((T'mat... x3))
Aleyi smiled as Inolyn started to sing, it was a pity the girl was a Violetrider, she sure was pretty. Then T'lat showed up, blushing like crazy... yeah, he definitely had a better chance with the Violetrider. "Hey T'lat." He had completely ignored her existance several times before, and even if the now-Bronzerider was busy crushing on someone else, Aleyi did plan to get him to say hi to her.
Last time he was the with Barredrider though. Jerglith rumbled, and wondered where Amarna and Holleth were.
That's guys for you, I guess. It had been two Turns though. Aleyi didn't join R'mer in asking for wine, she had never been a big drinker of it. Her mother had crushed her with the idea that it wasn't good for breathing some time back, and Aleyi didn't plan to question whether that was true or not. And she wasn't thirsty now anyways, fruit juice or water could wait.
"Wing assignments? No, I guess they'll tell us. But I guess we'll all join the wings dragons of the colors we have usually do." Would Barreds end up with the Blues and Greens? Probably, since their size was in between the two.
N'ren had never made much of a point of actually befriending any of the weyrlings, and with Johannesth being his usual antisocial self, the Tanrider felt a bit out of the loop. He grabbed a meatroll, using eating it as an excuse to not talk. He couldn't even remember most of the names of the people present. Tak nudged His reassuringly, but Torch was much too busy chattering to pay much mind to anyone.

D'mas obliged R'mer by filling his cup, and though his was near empty he had no desire to refill it. It was his first night as a bronzerider and he wanted to remember it, not make a drunkerd idiot of himself. Someone else could do that, he brought the wine for them all to enjoy and he wanted to set an example.
"That would mean T'mat and I are destined to fly with the Weyrleader. Who knows? We might get L'han's luck in the future." D'mas spoke up to Aleyi's comments on wing assignments. A man could only hope, but L'han might retain his rank as weyrsecond should he lose Nayarath's next flight.
Inolyn had finished her song and decided to take a break, welcoming a cup of wine from D'mas when he offered. Singing was thirsty work, and her fingers weren't used to running over strings. She smiled at T'mat, a soft look in her eyes but more composed. The bronzerider was easily embarressed by open signs of affection, so Inolyn was going to tread carefully.

T'lat began to withdraw abit as more attention was turned to the fact he had arrived. Though Hansth gave his rider a soft nugde form behind to let him know that he was there. T'lat reached back and rubbed his hand over the bronze snout to recive reasurriace, which was not a uncommon thing for him to do.
T'lat looked over Aleyi as she greeted him and with his noramlly shy voice " Hello Aleyi." He had not talk to her hardly at all in the past, though there were quite alot of people who feel of the catagory of people the bronzerider hardly talked to. He just shrugged in responds to R'mar's question. He had no clue really, and somtimes he felt like he was always the last to find out. Well at least it was better than never knowing at all.
Emerald and Iron appered form bettewen and flew down and landed on there pets shoulders. T'lat felt alittle better at the reasurring wight. Though at D'mas's comment T'lat just said " Oh no I don't want that man's luck." Be it leadership or flight, unless said dragon being chased was Jorindath, he did not like the idea of ethier. Which was not excatlly a good trait for a bronze rider. Though luckily for him there seemed to be pently of others ready to take up those roles. T'lat only would if he had a very very good reason. In actullty he would perfer Hansth never chased at all, but knew that was way to much to ask of the bronze and did not plan on doing so.
T'lat also gave Inolyn a soft look. Even though his blush had given him away. He was still thankful that she understood how he felt about being openly affectionate in fornt of others. That would probelry change with time, though right now it was not so. Of course it was nearly impossiable to hide the blush that seemed to cover his face whenever he was around her.

"I'll take a little wine," L'noen said, holding his cup out to D'mas. He listened to the talk about Wing assignments, wondering where he and Peasanth would end up. Peasanth was a good flier, but they were definitely destined for one of the higher altitude Wings, not the Weyrleader's Wing.
"Speaking of L'han, didn't Kayth chase Kelth? What was that like?" L'noen asked. He knew Peasanth would probably start chasing Greens and Barreds, and he was curious about Flights. He didn't mean to embarrass D'mas, although the question probably made him uncomfortable.

"Let's just say Shador scares me and im glad I lost. L'han is a much stronger man then I, but had it been someone else then it would have been a different story." The older violet rider slept with more men then anyone could keep count with, not the most favorable trait for everyone. Rememberence of that look she had given him in lustful concideration still sent shivers down his spine, which he carefully controled as he filed L'noen's cup. "Anyone else?" he asked the group.
Earisa looked at her dragon as the topic of Flights reached her ears, caressing the scar on her arm she got at Impression. Maideneth was a very estatic dragon, the flight would be fast before the green got too tired and would be caught. "I'm not really looking forwards to Maideneth mating at all. She's all speed but no endurence, the males would probably get annoyed with her when its over too soon..." She wouldn't be surprised if they weren't already annoyed with her.

"Shador? She makes me glad I'm well known to have no interest in women," R'mer quipped. "I don't have any risk of being one of her conquests."
Not that there as that much of a huge..problem...with Shador, but R'mer was glad he had a good chance of staying out of her clutches.
Tinth would fly high, being a blue, and the weyrleaders were probably finalizing those little details right now, with a good influx of former weyrlings to support the wings. "I'd class the barreds with blues myself, the size range seems to be nearly identical..."

Triumph! Aleyi grinned and Jerglith rumbled when T'lat finally got it into his head to reply to her greeting. Third time's a charm, anyways. "I'm safe from Shador too, Jerglith's a smart Blue." Aleyi laughed. "But what's it like during a Flight, excluding the people?" That had been the original question, hadn't it? It was likely they'd all find out soon enough, but it never hurt to know a little about it ahead of time.
It won't matter, I plan to win if I chase. Jerglith snorted softly.
Aleyi didn't know who didn't, but didn't comment. "Jerglith and Tinth are gonna be the best Blues in the Wing though, huh R'mer?" She smiled at her friend instead. "Flying Thread will be scary though." And there was a Fall coming up too... now that she knew she was going to be in one for real, the idea seemed that much more intimidating.

D'mas thought for a moment, trying to remember and how best to describe it. "I guess it was like raw emotion rushing at you before you even know what it really is. But then again, queen flights are said to be much stronger then the smaller females." They'll figure it out for themselves he endded up thinking, waving off any more questions they might have.
"At least all of you will be 'fighting' Thread, Jorindath and I only have cleaning up to look forwards." Still, Inolyn would still know what it was like to fly a flaming dragon. With her larger size it would only make her a larger target to be hit in the upper wings. Maintaining suitable flame in her dragon that more or less could be wasted would be tirering.
"If that wasn't bad enough, we have to look up to Nayarath, who if you haven't noticed, doesn't seem to like violets very much." The violetrider continued. Now more then ever since Kelth laid her clutch, Nayarath was treating them with with distaste. Inolyn wondered how different things would have been if Jorindath was the gold everyone wanted her to be, but she wouldn't trade Jorindath for anything, Not even a queen of all queen dragons.
