People were starting to arrive, and Y'xem was glad that things were getting under way. This Gather was needed. People got depressed during Threadfall, and Gathers were rare during that time. People were happy at them though. Y'xem leaned against the wall that was near the Square. A place where many people would congregate soon, but for now he was relatively alone. His clothes weren't really that special to him. A yellow-green and fancy tunic, with darker green pants. It wasn't that new...but he just didn't wear it that often. He yawned involuntarily. He needed a little wine to wake him up. ***************************** Z'ris was rather uncomfortable. He sadly hadn't seen Tarenthia since the day of their first meeting a few days ago. He hoped that she didn't think she had just been tossed aside. Shards, Jacklith had just kept Z'ris busy...Tarenthia was always on part of his mind. Straightening his burgundy tunic, he looked down at his pants. Did they really go with this? They were just black, or a dark hide. He shrugged and looked around for any sign of Tarenthia. Nothing. He sat at a nearby table and sighed. Why was she so important? He was really getting upset because he couldn't find her. Z'ris stared out into the dance square, it was lightly populated by dancers. A sort of fast tune was playing.

Tarenthia whirled and twirled her way to the gather. Instead of her regular clothes, she was wearing an off-white strapless dress with a tight corest top which tied in the back, a big red bow around her waist which was also tied in the back, and the skirt of the dress was very billowy. When she twisted and spun, it would fly out in a big circle, and she loved it. She grinned and giggled as she twirled again. The bow accented her waist, which pronounced curves very well, making it look like she was more feminine than she was.
Her blond hair was in a fancy updo at the back of her head and bits of it hung down from her little hair design. Her bangs were, of course, around her face, as they always were, framing the pale and delicate features there. Her thin pink lips were spread into a wide smile and her eyes sparkled jovially. How could one not enjoy a gather?
A little gasp escaped her throat when she spotted the moping Z'ris; she was elated to see him! She was wearing no shoes, and the music was loud, so the stealthy Tarenthia made no noise as she creeped around and snuck up behind him. "Z'ris!" She suddenly burst out, latching her arms around his neck, "Lovely to see you here, my dear!" She rubbed her nose against his cheek then kissed it. She had missed him terribly!
~~~
Korrik was merely wearing a purple tunic with yellow trim; one of his favourites, but nothing special. He wore plain black pants and boots and did nothing else for his appearance. Kork looked amazing, and he knew it! At least he thought he did! He was so excited for the Gather. Music, dancing, food... women! The best of everything!
He hid a mischievious little smirk as he approached the dance square. Dancing women were almost as good as kissing women... kissing him, that is. Kork stood near the edge of the square and waited for someone to approach him instead of making the first move. In a place like this, it was best to let the joy of others carry you off on your own little joy ride instead of trying to join into someone else's fun. He liked when girls asked him to dance, anyway. It meant they liked how he looked! He would never refuse a dance from any woman who asked; rudeness simply wasn't his style.
Z'ris was still moping when he was hugged from behind. It was Tarenthia! He laughed at her as she kissed his cheek. "Well hello there beautiful. I missed you." He reached behind him to tickle her a little before turning around and getting up to hug her. It was good to be together again, even if there were people around this time and they couldn't really be that cuddly. He grinned down at her and kissed her cheek. "Lovely Gather, isn't it?" ********************** As he seemingly billowed through the crowd, V'ire smiled at the few women in the crowd that looked his way. His sky-blue tunic was very eye catching though, so that was a good reason why they looked over at him. He took a position by the wall, he could find some people to talk to here. He just hoped that Elisth would be fine rolling around the weyr Bowl. That Green was silly. She could do anything silly and still have no shame. V'ire was glad his hair was in a runner tail, otherwise a hand would be in it while he leaned against the wall. He had such a nervous habit.
Nayarath popped from between high over Danac and circled down to an only somewhat empty area near the dancefloor, landing somewhat heavier than usual and quickly folding her wings to her side as Kora dismounted. You go up to the heights now dear heart, she chuckled, giving the dragon's shoulder a pat.
Just had to make sure people knew we arrived. Nayarath rumbled and took off again. The Gold settled again on the heights and happily relaxed in the last of the day's sun.
Kora headed for Y'xem, quickly locating him with her dragon's assistance. "On time for once?" She smiled at the Weyrleader. She suspected she still could have beaten him if Lilac and Soot hadn’t been causing trouble while Kora tried to find a dress. The flitts had gotten it into their heads that she needed to match them and Soot wanted to be oiled before they went so he could look good for any females that happened to be about.
Kora had settled on a dress with a deep red shade, it’s color matching the slight sunset tinge to Nayarath’s hide rather than Lilac or Soot. It did little to help her flat build, and although it had a v-neck, would not have been particularly revealing if there had been something to reveal. Her hair had been braided and curled into a bun, not anything extremely hard to do, but she thought it looked nice.
~~~
Amirinth arrived only shortly after the Gold and landed outside Danac, happy to allow K’laon to run the rest of the way while she moved up to the heights to watch the goings-on. These gatherings of people usually proved to be entertaining.
K’laon still made it to the dance square in good time and grinned when he recognized one of the Weyrlings with someone he was pretty sure was a Candidate. “Already kissing up?” He laughed, squeezing himself between the two and putting his arms over their shoulders. “Better be careful, I’ll bet the Weyrlingmasters are coming.” He grinned at Z’ris. “Amirinth’s a bad gossip too. What’s there to eat around here, have you seen?” He looked around hopefully.
~~~
Tirasha hadn’t thought to change for the Gather, no-one had invited her as a partner and fancy dresses were not really her thing anyways. She liked to come and watch the Runners race more than anything else, and listen to the Harpers. Tianthe was already off on her own adventure, flying in search of good food and flitts to game with, but Willow was his usual serious self and remained on Tirasha’s shoulder.
“Think we’ll find some good racers this time?” She spoke absently to her Bronze as she walked. Tirasha never bet on the races, but liked to pretend to. There were too many other interesting things at the Gather for her to use up her Marks on races, although she liked to imagine she was good at choosing winners.
Willow chirruped and gave his tail a flick, noticing V’ire near a wall not far away and happy that His hadn’t noticed him. He would enjoy the Gather much more if he had Tirasha to himself like he usually did.
N'rek fidgeted in the saddle, fingers toying with the safety straps absentmindedly as Crith readied herself to land.
N'rek! Stop fidgeting; you're ruining my concentration!
Sheepishly the greenrider flattened his hands on his thighs, leaning forward into his dragon as Crith began to backwing before delicately touching down.
Unfastening the straps, N'rek slid down, landing heavily on his feet. Frowning, he began to brush off his new Gather tunic, careful to get all the dust off. The crimson tunic had been made especially for this Gather and N'rek had spent good Marks on it. He wasn't about to have it get streaked with dust.
Sometimes I wonder why you weren't born a female...
Crith's snort sent the dust flying again and N'rek hit her foreleg, scowling as he began his process again. Rolling his eyes at the dragon's antics, N'rek patted her side affectionately. Go off and have some fun; you've certainly earned it.
The green obeyed, stepping away from hers so she wouldn't get him too dusty as she took off, heading to the heights to laze with the other dragons.
N'rek made his way to the dance floor, eying the casks of wine thoughtfully. No, he wouldn't start drinking till later--the night was much too young.
He turned, scanning the assembled mob for people he knew, lips quirking in a lopsided grin. Heading over to K'laon, N'rek slid an arm around his waist, smiling down at the couple and hoping that they weren't being too traumatized by the Raute Wingleader. "K'laon, how nice to see you. Care for a drink?" He winked at the couple, smiling broadly. "Terrorizing the poor defenseless weyrlings and candidates, are we? Come, the night is much too young to waste being a terror. Besides, I'm certain we can find something more worthwhile to do than traumatize the poor couple."
Z'ris almost gave a yell when he and Tarenthia were separated. It turned to shock when he looked up into the face of a rider. "Ah, well...we've met before sir. We're friends." He smiled at the man. It was a little awkward to have this man between the two of them, and with his arms around them no less! Thank Faranth that only moments later another rider came over to the rescue though. "Ah, thank you sir. It's really no trouble, just gave us a start is all." He looked over at Tarenthia, wishing that there weren't so many people around. ********************** Y'xem smiled as Kora came over. "As a matter of fact, you're late." He laughed and held her at arms length to examine her dress. "That color suits you greatly Kora. I like it." He ran an arm around her waist and sighed as he walked them away from the wall. "Would you like to dance?" He felt that he had at least become more comfortable with Kora since Nayarath's most current Flight.
Kelth landed gracefully on the Heights, and Shador jumped off of her back. Then, she unfolded a silky silver dress from one of the saddle bags. Hiding behind the Violet, she quickly changed from a riding suit into the dress. Replacing her boots with a pair of dancing shoes, she gave Kelth a pat on the shoulder and then hurried down the steps to the Gather. She decided to hit the dance floor right away. Smokey and Bandit followed, trilling along with the music. Near the dance floor, they started playing with some other flitts. Shador grinned, scanning the sidelines for a prospective partner. She planned to dance with lots of guys tonight. Good thing she didn't have to put up a united front with J'ran, like Kora and Y'xem did. Of course, the Weyrleaders seemed genuinely fond of each other. Commitment? Shador didn't get it. Her wandering eyes focused on a handsome young man wearing a purple tunic. Maybe it was the tunic that matched her dragon's hide which caught her attention. At any rate, he seemed up for a dance. She strode up to Korrik, giving her most charming smile, along with a wink. "Care to dance?" (( Shador's dress!)) ---------- M'ran was glad to have a break from weyrling training. He liked working with his dragon, but he needed to stop learning for a while and just relax. He had a few marks to spend, and he planned to visit the bubbly pie cart later, but first he decided to check out the dancing square. He actually liked dancing and he was good at it, he was just too shy to ask girls sometimes. Don't be silly, mine. Anyone would love to dance with my rider, Firth said, chortling to himself. M'ran just smiled and stood to the side of the floor, looking for an unaccompanied girl.
D'mas was quite excited, he had always enjoyed a good gather. Everyone did in these expecially bad times, having lost the northern continant. Dressed in black and red tunic he was going for anything special. During past gathers he had worn working clothes, having to work as apprentice beastcrafters did. Animals that came in from far and wide had to be seen to, and then there was racers and whatever creatures being sold and bought.
It was nice to be on the leasurly side this time, taking everything at his own pace and having a few marks pocketed too. A rare occurence but he was sure there wuld be many more situations like this. Wondering the stores and attractions, the only thing the weyrling bronzerider was missing was a girl on his arm. While he didn't have any lose for possible partners, he just didn't have a prefrence out of them.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Inolyn fussed in the dressing room arranged for the riders, careful of the carefully wrapped package. If it hadn't been for L'han the tanrider she wouldn't even be here, having to leave Jorindath behind. The young Violet queen wasn't quite up up to making flights by herself.
It had taken a while of planning, fitting and last minute changes but finally she had a dress she was so excited to wear. Had she not been a queenrider, paying for the dress could have bled her dry of every Mark she had and more still. For the moment it would have been worth it, but she knew she would end up regretting it. At the end of the day it would be a pile of fabric she may never wear again, what a waste...
Keloc helped pull at the lacing on the back of her dress, she had been training him for today to help her. One of the other weyrlings, Earisa, was going to help her but her green was in the middle of a bad stomach ache right now. Inolyn found no wrong in wanting to be at her dragon's side, and the little girl said she would try to come later.
"That's tight enough handsome, I got it." Reaching back and tying the corset lacing she looked over herself. Harper blue with a deep violet trimming whistled soft russles which each movement she made. Fine, tiny threads of gold had been worked into the blue, giving a half sparkle/half shine look to it. Low cut at the front she had found herself rather fortunate no to need padding or seem to busty.
Gold/bronze embroidery snaked around her waist, collor and cuffs, the weather was getting too cold to leave her shoulders and arms. Long sleeves had been worked into the design but it only made it more perfect. Never had a dress sent her into a fit of fluttery girlishness before.
Keloc had gone off to play with the other fire lizards, leaving the young violetrider to enter the gather alone.
Tarenthia basically just stared, bemused, at the rider that burst between Z'ris and herself. She watched him go off then murmured to Z'ris, "Someone's been dipping into the wine!" She giggled then grabbed his hand and started to drag him to the dance floor. "These tables are so drab, let's dance! Pleeease?" Tarenthia fluttered her eyelashes, two hands on Z'ris' own hand.
She glanced over her shoulder at the people who had already started dancing. All the dresses twirling and boots stepping to the music; such fun! Tarenthia wanted to be a part of the dance, but how could she do that without her lovely Z'ris? Her blue eyes turned back to her newly-acquired friend and smiled warmly. "Let's go!" She chirped cheerily.
~~~
Korrik was quite content to watch the dancers move about. All the women moved so fluidly; it was so entrancing. However, his gaze was caught by a woman moving directly for him. Not one quite as beautiful as some of the other women here, but she was far from ugly! Nyocia did seem to be home to some stunning women, though.
Kork unsubtly looked down at her, a little smile playing across his lips. "Beautiful dress, m'lady." He took her hand and gave a polite bow, "I would feel honored to dance with a woman as gorgeous as yourself." He placed a kiss on her hand then straightened himself back up. Kork would wait for her to lead them to the dance floor; it was only polite. "Korrik, wher Candidate." His smile was kind as he introduced himself, though there was a flash of playfulness in his eyes. He did love the women!
~~~
Sheena left Lyrrith asleep at her weyr, fire-lizards atop her hide. The dragon was so irate of late, it was clear the green would rise soon, but she pushed those anxious thoughts from her head; she wanted to have a fun night! Her sleek black hair was in it's usual pigtails, bangs framing her face. Her dress was short and possibly could have been worn as a top. It was a bright blue, to match her eyes and dainty little shoesies, and had a single thin strap going over her right shoulder. The dress only reached down a little bit past her rear, but if she were to bend down... scandal!
Sheena paced around the edge of the dance floor, hips swaying seductively. She wanted to attract men, women, everyone! As long as they were good-looking, she'd dance with anyone. Something about Gathers made her really want to have a "friend" for the night. She scoped out the edge of the dance floor; that's partnerless people stood. There were some very handsome men, and a couple of cute girls! This place was full of people, and she wanted some attention.
Beka was in a state of utter bliss. True, she didn't own any skirts, and the clothes she was wearing qwere her normal, every day tunic and trousers, but she'd gotten her wish. One she'd had since she was little, she could attend a gather. True, it would be better if Mermaiyeth were here, but Valiant had perched proudly on her shoulder, offering comfort when she paused, crooning proudly when she didn't.
"It's really crowded isn't it?" This was said to the blue, who nodded his little wedged head. He didn't know much about gathers, this was his first as it was for His, but Beka didn't seem to notice his lack of knowledge, listening to teh music with a look of almost awe as she kept to the side of the dance square. Watching others twil effortlessly, made her almost long to join them, want ot fit in for a change. Why don't you silly? It was the first time Mermaiyeth had spoken up since Beka had come to the gather, leaving her at the weyr.
I-- I never learnt.. An everyday thing for most girls her age, something their mother's taught. Beka's days had been filled with the washing of cuts, the tending of bruises. The splinting of broken arms. How was that fair? ... Oh... You couldn't pretend? I like to see you smile... And laugh.. She didn't press the point though, not when Beka mutely shook her head and mentally shied away from the question.
Valiant of course, reacted instantly to the slight change of mood, crooning worriedly and pressing his small bodya against Beka's neck. Mermaiyeth however, amused herself by reaching out to her siblings. Hello Kayth, did you get left behind too? It's annoying. Mine should have taken me, it's her first gather. Is Yours having fun?
"Oh really?" K'laon looked from Z'ris to the Candidate girl with raised eyebrows. "Seems a bit more than that, hm? How's your Bronze?"
K'laon stared at N'rek, crestfallen that the other Greenrider seemed to be hoping to drag him away from the two. Amirinth sighed softly, she had been enjoying this game from the first moment Hers set eyes upon the weyrling/Candidate couple. Very questionable, in her opinion. She turned her head to glance at Crith.
Yours is going to ruin all the fun, she commented sadly.
"It's too early for a drink." K'laon chuckled. To some it might seem like he had been at the wine already... but that was a no. That Candidate girl was reaching around him to grip Z'ris's hand, which was a bit odd in K'laon's opinion. He took her wrist and grinned. "I'll dance! Z'ris can have N'rek." There was no point in her wasting time with a weyrling anyways. She was pretty anyways... and who knew, maybe she would get a Blue? It was good to get to know people ahead of time.
~~~
Kora laughed as the Gold pointed out that she could never be late. Nayarath seemed to think the whole world revolved around her. "Nayarath says we are very much on time. And you look very nice too." She smiled. Red, yellow and green... quite the interesting mix of colors they would be flaunting.
Kora's expression became uncertain when Y'xem started walking them towards the dance floor. "I'm not very good," she said softly, her usual shyness starting to show itself. "Two left feet, really." She would only be in the way, and of more people than Y'xem.
~~~
Aleyi had managed to get a ride over with another rider, and although she had to leave Jerglith at the Weyr, was happy to at least have Brooke with her. A quick search had given the girl no signs of Brookelev, but there were other people she knew at the Gather, she would be alright if her old friend didn't show up.
"Oh look Brooke, do you see Beka? Let's go say hi." She spoke to her flitter, and the Gold chirped and bobbed her head. Of course she did. Aleyi trotted over, coming up beside the Barredrider and grinning.
"No dress Beka?" Seeing a girl without one made her almost wish she hadn't worn one, Aleyi had never been a big fan of skirts. But she had somehow ended up with a lot of Marks and bought herself a blue one to match Jerglith, although the color was sort of pointless since the dragon couldn't come. Loosefitting and with short sleeves but a long skirt, it struck her as prime dancing material, although Aleyi had no partner and even less talent.
Tarenthia grinned as the rider offered to dance. She looked apologetically at Z'ris and gave a short curtsy to the man holding her wrist. She slipped through his grip so her hand was in his. "Tarenthia, charmed to meet you." Her voice had a hint of playfulness; she was being purposefully over formal, to be funny. She smiled and started to lead him to the dance floor. "I hope you can keep up!" Tarenthia giggled. This man looked opposite to his silly, playful nature, but she wouldn't mind having a little dance with him.
Z'ris couldn't really do anything about what was happening now. He felt like punching K'laon out, but instead he smiled. "Jacklith is fine. Tarenthia, save me a few dances!" He waved as the two of them went off to the dance floor. He turned away from the direction of Tarenthia and walked to the nearest table. Z'ris wasn't in a great mood, but suddenly Flash and Whim popped from between to land on the table to help cheer up their Keeper's suddenly sad mood. **************************** D'lis watched as Strath lifted off and then went to find a dance partner if he could. His earthen colored tunic wasn't much to look at, but he really didn't care. He gave a sigh and sat at an unoccupied table. Let them come to you. That was the best way. He wasn't much for searching anyway. D'lis hoped that at least the slow song was done by the time that he got a partner.
N'rek followed the bronze weyrling to the table, sitting beside him and propping his elbows on the wooden tabletop. "Don't worry too much--I wouldn't if I were you. K'laon won't keep her for long and I'm certain she will dance with you too; she looks like she's smitten with you, you know."
The greenrider smiled goofily at the weyrling, adding, "There are plenty of other girls to dance with." Eying one such girl who didn't appear to be having much fun, N'rek pointed to her. "See, I bet she'd just love it if you danced with her. Her name's Beka, isn't it?"
He sat up straight then, peering around the dance floor momentarily. "I wonder where R'lyr is... I told him he should come; my turnday is this month and what better way to celebrate than at the Fall Gather?" Grinning at Z'ris, N'rek nodded to the girl. "If you aren't going to ask her to dance then I will."
"Did I muss my dress?" Ketara fussed, dismounting as smoothly as she could. Her skirts had been bunched up around her thighs for most of the flight over, and it was a relief to lower them again.
Keh. You look fine. I look spectuacular, and I am going to kill one of our weyrlings.
It took Ket a moment to realize what her beloved blue was saying. She responded rather well, considering.
"Oh? Which weyrling would that be?"
She raked her fingers through her hair, disheveling the languid curls further. It didn't really matter, because she intended to dancer until her cheeks were flushed, and her pulse was racing. And then, just maybe, find somebody cuddly to take home. Faranth knew there would be enough willing bodies at this Gather!
Don't worry about that. Enjoy yourself. I'm going to sun.
Axeth took off, relying more on the initial thrust of his hindwuarters than his wings for the first few seconds. He wasn't about to hit his Ketara!
Shaking her head, Ketara worked her way through the crowd to see if she could find anyone she knew. Along the way, she nodded to those wearing rider knots, not that many were. By sheer dint of height, she caught a glimpse of someone who was quite possibly her favorite green rider.
"Hey, Sheena!"
Oh, Jacklith!
If Shador had heard Korrik's thoughts about her not being as beautiful as the other women, she would have been really ticked. As it is, she was quite taken in by his compliments. A smile brightened her face when he complimented her dress. A guy who noticed clothes, this was good. A faint blush even colored her cheeks when he kissed her hand, and she giggled. Cool, this guy was old school!
"Why, thank you," she said, her smile widening. Letting him keep her hand after he kissed it, she gently tugged him in the direction of the dance floor. She was a little surprised to hear he was a wher candidate. Oh well, she didn't really care about rank. Hopefully he didn't, either. She didn't want him to get all shy when he found out she was a dragonrider, although he might already know. "I'm Shador, rider of Violet Kelth." She pointed at the Violet with her free hand. "That's her up there." Pretty obvious, since she was the only adult Violet, but Shador liked to show off her dragon.
***
M'ran looked around and noticed Inolyn coming up to the dance floor. Deciding it would be easiest to start with a familiar face, he walked over to her, smiling at her in what he hoped was a charming smile. As he got closer, he noticed her elaborate dress, as well as the low neckline. He felt his cheeks get warm, and he quickly returned his eyes to her face.
"Hi, Inolyn. You look great," he said sincerely. He suddenly found it difficult to believe she would want to dance with him. "Er, are you looking for a dance, or just watching?"
***
Easath dropped R'lyr off in the courtyard, then flew to the Heights for some sunning. He discovered that N'rek was by the dance floor, and relayed this to his rider. N'rek had been urging R'lyr to come to the Gather, and the blue rider had finally relented. He wasn't really looking forward to it, because he got nervous in crowds. But he'd live, and he wanted to give N'rek his turnday present, which was wrapped in a small box he carried.
Kestrel and Junior perched on his shoulders, but the young blue fluttered off to play with the other fire lizards when they neared the dance floor. Kes chittered after his brother, but R'lyr shook his head. "Aw, Kes, he's young. Let him have his fun. Not everyone has to be around sulky old me all the time." The bronze chirped, nuzzling his owner's cheek and making it clear he liked being with R'lyr. He had his cane too, of course, but in a crowd like this a fire lizard was very helpful. He knew Kestrel would alert people before he ran into them.
R'lyr hovered near the edge of the dance floor, hoping N'rek would be able to spot him. He found himself humming along with the music. He used to be a good dancer. He hadn't tried since he lost his sight, but he doubted he could still move as gracefully. He'd probably step all over his partner's feet.
Z'ris gave a groan as N'rek harped on what was going on on the dance floor with Tarenthia and K'laon. "I'd rather not talk about it, N'rek sir. I just hope she comes back soon."
When the rider talked of her being smitten, Z'ris blushed. "Well, we met a little while ago. I guess you could say the feeling is mutual." He smiles at N'rek as the man pointed out Beka, the really shy weyrling. Z'ris supposed that he could dance with someone while Tarenthia was busy.
"Thank you N'rek. I'll go busy myself until Tarenthia is free." He smiled again and walked over to Beka.
"Um...Beka? Would you like to dance for a little while?" Z'ris asked rather sheepishly. She could say no, and then he'd look like a fool. Oh well.
N'rek smiled smugly as he watched Z'ris head off to talk to Beka. His work was done; K'laon couldn't beat that! But he had more important things to think about than matchmaking, one of which was locating R'lyr.
Shells, if R'lyr doesn't show up soon you'll have to take me back to the Weyr so I can force him to come. He thinks I wouldn't dare make good on my threat but scorch it if I won't! Nobody needs to be such a social recluse; especially not when there's a Gather!
Crith snorted at her rider's silliness, retorting, You're such a dimglow sometimes that I worry about you, N'rekmine. Easath's here, so R'lyr is around there somewhere.
N'rek craned his neck, standing on his tiptoes to see further around the dancing square. When he caught a glimpse of red hair and the cane, the greenrider smiled brightly. He made his way quickly through the gathering crowd of potential dancers, narrowly avoiding getting wine spilled on his new tunic.
But even the almost-ruin of his newest tunic didn't dampen N'rek's high spirits for a minute. Grinning wickedly, the greenrider grabbed R'lyr's wrist, using it for leverage as he bounced up on the balls of his feet to press his lips chastely to R'lyr's.
"I was wondering if you would come." N'rek stroked Kestrel gently, always careful to avoid getting near the flitter's muzzle. But Kestrel had never offered to bite him, so it was more out of habit than of necessity. "You do realize I was prepared to go back to the Weyr after you."
This time when N'rek kissed him, it was firmer and more possessive. "Of course, if I'd done that we might not have made it back."
“Charmed too.” K’laon winked. “I’m K’laon, and Amirinth’s on the heights somewhere.” He had never quite caught the habit a lot of riders had of introducing themselves as their dragon’s. K’laon of Green Amirinth? It just didn’t sound right to him.
Amirinthlove likes it, Amirinth commented absently.
The Greenrider grinned as Tarenthia started towards the dance floor and took a few larger steps to draw up beside her. “’Course I can keep up.” Dancing wasn’t hard at all, much as some people liked to complain it was. “Looks like your boy’s found another girl already,” he commented with an absent glance backwards. “Two actually.” He laughed.
“Hey Z’ris!” Aleyi hardly noticed how, again, she was already being passed over by people. Z’ris had asked Beka, not her, to dance. Maybe because Rebekah was the one with a female dragon, and that made since to her since she was a Bluerider. “Oh Beka, you should! Dancing is fun.”
Brooke snorted at the male weyrling, much more irritated than Hers was that they were ignored. The Gold had no experience in this, and was under a firm belief that everyone should notice and pay her proper respect. That he would go to the girl with the Blue flitter and ask her to dance without even glancing at her seemed very offensive.
~~~ Ekirith backwinged before landing carefully on the heights and waited until J’ran had dismounted to fold his wings. Greetings, lovely Kelth, the Brown murmured, reaching over to nuzzle the Violet he had landed next to. To his rider, he only commented that he was apparently too late. It looked like Shador had a dance partner.
Is that so shocking? J’ran laughed and started toward the dance floor. There were plenty of other women about and he didn’t have to worry about always being with the Violetrider.

Tarenthia felt a pang of sorrow as she looked over to Z'ris. Indeed, it seemed he had moved on quite quickly. Her smile vanished momentarily before she remembered that she was the one who had first abandoned him. "Oh well," she said, grinning back at K'laon, "His loss!" She snickered and twirled under his arm as they melded in with the big group of dancing people. Her hips moved slightly with the pace of the song, though she was a little hesitant due to shyness, and she couldn't take her eyes from K'laon's. He was rather handsome.
Tarenthia didn't look to her former lover again, although her heart wanted her too. Z'ris hadn't even tried to stop her or even wait for her for a half a moment. She was rather hurt, but she had a new friend to dance with now. One who's dragon would not get huffy if ignored for two seconds. She decided not another thought of Z'ris would cross her mind that night.

Korrik kept his charming, easy smile on his lips as Shador spoke. "She's lovely." He said, not removing his eyes from the girl. A violet rider; very impressive! She was pretty, and clearly very excited to dance! Kork figured that giving her the dance of her life was quite in order. The music was up-beat and made Kork's heart begin to dance as well.
He led Shador into the dance, his hand hold hers, other on her waist. Their bodies were close; a fairly intimate dance. And if Shador had blushed so easily before, Korrik almost guilty for being a little over enthusiastic about dancing. He spun her out, then spun her back in again. She was dipped down, one strong arm holding her up, then he pulled back up, bodies close once again. His smile widened. He missed dancing.

Sheena's eyes widened as she heard her name called. Her head whipped round, anxious to see the voice she recognized so easily. Her blue eyes sparkled with delight to see Ketara. She was so beautiful. Sheena strode up to the woman, hips swaying a little more than necessary. "You look absolutely ravishing, Ketara, my dear." She purred flirtatiously, stopping short not two inches from the blue rider. A little smile crossed her lips; Ketara was definitely one she wouldn't mind waking up to.
Sheena took Ketara's hands and gently tugged her into the group of dancers. She slid the blue rider's hands down her curves and whispered "dance with me" only just loud enough to hear. She brought their bodies close and her hips rolled entrancing with the music. Sheena loved to dance, dancing with Ketara just made it so much better.
