((Well... Sparrow hasn't written one of these in over two years and hasn't been in a Weyr that has done one in about a year and hasn't read a Hatching Feast thing in forever... so please excuse it if this post isn't that good. >.< Everyone's welcome to post; the more the marrier!))
Twenty-six eggs laid and now hatched... Nayarath was feeling quite satisfied with herself and Kora was relieved and amazed by the success. Three new colors too, and lots of the higher-ranking colors... the Weyr needed those. The Weyrwoman wasn't sure what to think of the Barreds, as they called themselves, but they were pretty with those bright stripes against their light hides. And maybe they would clutch too... which meant more dragons in a few years. No-one could know yet.
Since the bad weather still seemed to be holding off, the Hatching Feast was outside. Nayarath lay near the lake, soaking up the last of the suns rays and very much enjoying her freedom from the Hatching Sands. She was a mother of twenty-six perfect dragonets; even that steely Blue that Impressed the boy she didn't like counted. And where was her lovely mate, Alduth? Such a perfect evening should not be ruined by the Bronze being late to yet another event.
Cooks had brought out all sorts of food, wine barrels (including a few of the remaining barrels brought from the North, since the Hatching had gone so well people figured a little of something so precious could be used) were waiting to be used, tables waited to be sat in. After the Hatching the Weyr had been a flurry of movement, making the last few adjustments to a feast cooks had been working on for days, hoping everything would be ready in time. No-one could know just when dragon eggs would hatch, apparently Nayarath's had chosen a good time for their wasn't too much extra work to do outside normal preparations for a feast.
A few harpers even gathered on a makeshift platform, strumming guitars, playing pipes and drums. Right now it was a man Kora didn't know who sung. He looked young enough to be a fresh journeyman, perhaps that was why she hadn't seen him about before.
Kora waited for Y'xem, he seemed to be making a habit of being late to things, at least the feast was barely starting and he had a chance to be on time. Nayarath rumbled softly at the thought of her Alduth and his rider suddenly swirling in to something everyone should know about and attend.

Well, Y'xem at least was on time. Alduth glided in to land at the lake next to his beautiful mate. He crooned to her in the fading light before nuzzling against her. Hello Nayarath. Sorry for the slight tardiness, I waited for every one of the Candidates to scurry off to get ready.
He rumbled at that thought and then set his head on his paws. Y'xem though was already there, not too far from Kora. One reason that she may not have yet noticed him was that he was rather dressed up for this Hatching Feast, and another was that he was talking with a newly Impressed Bronze rider..Z'ris...and walking toward her.
" Now do remember that as a Bronze rider, you have more responcibility as some of the others Z'ris. Set a good example!" Y'xem smiled.
" I will Weyrleader. Thank you!" Z'ris grinned and ran off to find some of the other new Weyrlings that he knew.
As Y'xem came up to Kora he smiled at her. " Hello there. That was a great Hatching wasn't it?" He lightly touched her shoulder. " Alduth found Nayarath over at the Lake."
It seemed that the Hatching made Y'xem very happy. He was glowing with excitement.
Z'ris went over and sat at a table where it happened that the Candidate that was standing next to him was at. V'ire smiled at the boy who he recognized as the boy that stood next to him that had Impressed a Bronze.
" Hello, we really haven't met before...the name's V'ire now!" V'ire extended his hand to the other boy, who took it.
" I'm Z'ris now, I saw you Impress that Green right after I Impressed Jacklith. What's her name?" Z'ris gave V'ire a friendly smile.
" Elisth, yes she was tired enough to sleep right after. I think all of them were." V'ire sighed and took a sip of the friuty drink he had.

K'met flat out refused to go, he might be weyrlingmaster now, but that didn't mean he had to love social functions. I'm not goin Hevereth.
Oh yes you are going, you are not getting out of this one. You are the weyrlingmaster for the shard's of Faranth's fist egg, just go!
Fine, but that doesn't mean I have to go acting like I love it.
Fine, I agree, as long as you actually get your lazy but over there You could tell that the dragon wasn't angry and that this was just a "friendly squabble" between the two because of the love for each other that colored both their mind voices.
K'met went towards his dragon and leaped on. Without even needing to say anything, Heverth leaped off the ground and flew to the weyr bowl, leaving K'met there and taking off for the heights.

Johannesth was more than happy to go to sleep. N'ren had practically dragged the dragon around all day; at the Hatching, after he had finished eating the Tan had been hoping to just flop down on the sand there and sleep. But other Weyrlings had headed for the barracks at the last Hatching he had attended... so he finally convinced the dragonet to come with him there and then Johannesth had fallen promptly asleep.
Since hatching, the Tan had awoken several times complaining of itches around his stretched belly and hunger. N'ren had no idea how a newborn dragon could eat so much, and he could have sworn the Tan had grown a little in the few hours since escaping his eggs. Now at least, the Tan was happily sleeping and N'ren was also pleased by that because he could attend the Hatching Feast and Johannesth wasn't likely to wake up while he was gone.
He hurried into the Weyr Bowl, glancing at the currently unopened glowbaskets and all the food. A lot of people seemed to be there already, cooks and other weyrfolk mostly. The Weyrleaders and their dragons were there too. Noticing a couple other freshly Impressed boys, N'ren joined them. Torch appeared suddenly from between with a meatroll in his paws and mouth already running with chatter, distracting the boy from the greeting he had been about to say. He had told his flitts to stay with Johannesth.... Thinking that Torch would be obedient probably wasn't the best idea though... he could endure him.

T'lat entered the feast and looked around. It brothered him there were so many people, but he was gald that Hansth had decided to come with him. He pulled out his knife and began to spin it around his hand. He found spot against the wall and sat down while Hansth curled up beside him. T'lat took Iron off his shoulders and began to pet him with the hand he was not spinning the knife with. Hansth asked him Mine why do you sit away from the others instead of talking to them. T'lat smiled and replied to the bronze " Because my friend I enjoy being alone." Hansth turned and looked at T'lat and said to him Don't try and lie to me Mine. You know you don't enjoy being alone. T'lat smiled and replied " Yes my friend that is probably true, but that does not matter any more now that I have you." Hansth then nuzzled T'lat and said That is true Mine. You don't have to worry about being alone anymore. T'lat then reached up and began to rub the dragons between the eye ridges as Hansth crooned at him affectionately. T'lat then sat there looking at the other people.

Meagen tilted her head back as she released a large billowing sigh. Her dragon had forced her, FORCED her to go to this feast. She didn't want to! Already, people had been giving her odd looks, and women had been looking at her like /that/. It was... odd... and quite frankly, she didn't LIKE IT! She was wearing her clothing from earlier, a simple pair of loose trousers, and a simple loose white tunic. She was bored to all hell. Not to mention EXHAUSTED.
She sighed softly as she walked towards the Hatching Feast, doing her best to ignore peoples pats on her back, and just slipping away. Some people would be happy to impress, she was, but it was the results of the hatching, on her being, that took its toll on her. She walked towards where the food was, and got some. She avoided the wine, as she always did, and made her way towards one of the more secluded corners. She was tired of some of the looks she was getting. She didn't like women! ((And no she is not in denial... she might have some bi-curiousity's but she's more hetero then anything.))

Aleyi walked into the Hatching Feast with a Healer, Jerglith bouncing along beside her. The Blue was tired, but by no means would his curiosity allow him to miss this, the first event of his whole life (other than Hatching and Impressing, things he deemed rather unimportant because they were so natural). Upon leaving the hatching grounds Jerglith had tripped suddenly when he got distracted by a trundlebug, fallen into Aleyi, and she had been the one getting hurt.
At least Tirasha had been nice about tending to her, although she looked somewhat irritated, and fast too, now no-one was late to the feast. There were so many people!
Look Mine, I see a brother! Jerglith bounded towards where a Bronze hatchling curled next to a boy. Aleyi bounced after him.
"Hey! What're you doing just sitting in the shadows here? This is a feast for Faranth's sake!" Aleyi grinned at him.
Tirasha sighed softly with relief as the girl left her, she had been rather... annoying. She headed to the food tables and put a little on her plate, more to sate her ravenous fire-lizards than herself. Tianthe and Willow were whirring excitedly around overhead. Out of character as it was for Willow to be so bouncy, twenty-six dragons had just hatched, who wouldn't be? Practically the whole Weyr was probably in that mood.
She noticed a girl sitting in a far corner... no-one should be alone at a Hatching Feast. And she had Impressed hadn't she? That dark Brown... the shadowy one, that's why it had stood out to Tirasha. Such a dark color seemed odd. Tirasha headed in that direction, Tianthe occasionally diving at her plate to try and grab an early bit of food.
"Hey." She smiled faintly, having no idea of the girl's name, just that she was a Weyrling. Tianthe landed on the table, followed by Willow; both flitts seemed happy Theirs had found a place to sit finally. "Mind if I sit with you?"
Tirasha was not the type who expected all women Brownriders to be interested in woman, hopefully her greeting wouldn't come across like she was looking for anything. Tirasha had little enough interest in people as a whole. "My flitts look settled already at least." She rolled her eyes. Tianthe had grabbed some meat off Tirasha's plate and as she chewed that was eyeing the other girl's plate hungrily. Willow waited, patient as usual.

T'lat just sat there when he saw a blue followed by a girl coming over toward him. He started to get nervous and started to get more neverous and Hansth said to him Mine there is no reason to be so nervous. I am right here. You will be fine. When she came up to him and asked why he was sitting here in the shadow's. He just sat there for a second and then Iron took of and flew and landed on the girls shoulders and chirped his greeting at her. He then put his knife up and said to her " Becuase I get very nervous around large groups of people." He then sighed and put one hand on Hansth's side and said to her " My name his T'lat, the little guy on your shoulders there is Iron and my friend here is Hansth. What is your name?"

((Btw... Shori will not be here for the rest of the day, and some of tomorrow, shori is at his/her dads.))
Meagen looked up as the woman appeared, she smiled weakly at the other womans flitters and pushed out her plate. Offering her food to them. "It's alright I'm used to flitters" She murmured as she motioned to the gold that popped her head from behind the veil of Meagen's hair. "I have six others elsewhere..." She said with a soft laugh. She stopped and sighed, tilting her head down lightly. She sighed and picked up a piece of meat and held it out for Hope.
"It's nice to meet you JourneyWoman Healer" She commented lightly. "Tirasha right? I heard Nixsha say your name at the hatching. Mines Meagen... I impressed Toath." She murmured as she fed Hope another piece. "My fair... is one of the larger ones here, I have Hope, and two bronzes: Guardian and Jareth. My Brown Fellan, and my two blues Dip and Skip. My green is Dancer, and she's over there somewhere flirting with a blue." She commented as she shifted a little.
She looked up at the other woman, "I hope not to offend you... but please tell me you aren't interested in me... I have been propositioned enough by women today..." She whispered weakly.

Tinth was the very, very best dragon on Pern. And as R'mer headed for the celebratory group, he already felt as if he could fly.
Of course, he'd have to change to live up to such a wonderful blue. Riding was hard, physical work, but somehow that didn't matter. All the things he would never have done for his father, he was more than willing to do for his dragon. Tinth was currently fast asleep, unlike some of the other dragonets, who'd joined their riders. It didn't matter. Nothing could separate them now. But to start with, he hovered at the edge of things, somewhat uncertain.
Two changes of status so quickly had him a little...well. Thrown.

Amarna quietly helped Holleth to sleep in her couch. Little Holleth was stuffed to the brim with food. With a contented sigh she mumbled to her, I am fine, you be fine, go. Amarna sighed and took off the dirty, now off white, candidate robe. She put on a dress that she had for things like the feast. It was a light blue in color with long, flare sleeves and a skirt that hung down to the ground. It was a very simple, yet pretty dress and would suffice for her gown at any function. On top of the dress she strapped a thin piece of leather around her waist. On the belt were sheathes for her knives. Today she only had on long and slender knife that had a pretty design on its hilt. Though it looked to be only decorative, it was one of her prize knives, one of the few fancy yet useful ones she had. She actually made her long ragged hair into something pretty. She piled her hair on the top of her head in a bun and let artful little curls escape and cascade down to her shoulders.
Quietly she walked down to the weyr bowl, ready to look her part as a barred rider. She smiled as she entered, letting nobody see any fear. She got food and then looked around for a place to eat. She saw quite a few people hiding in the shadows, including the weyrlingmaster, but that didn't matter. She did recognize one person, and that was T'lat, who also liked knives. She remembered going over to meet him originally because he was playing with knives. Smiling she approached, an quietly waited for him to finish talking to the other girl, it would be interesting to talk again. She did like to talk to people of similar interests, especially others that liked knives.

D'mas
Kayth had padded along sleepily, seeming to waddle more then walk. Being stuffed to the throat full of meat the next thought tha dragon had was sleep but not having shoved his nose in everything within reach. D'mas couldn't help but chuckle at his 'copper' bronze, at this stage he was mostly trying to convince himself that Rayth was truely a bronze and not a new color like the greeny 'Barred' as they called themselves. it could be argueable but since Rayth thought himself a bronze he had to be, right?
Having finally herded the bronze into his makeshift bed the bronze scratched and sniffed everything remotely of intrest before finally curling up. "Sleep well, Kayth. Now that you've had your fill it's time for me to stuff my face." It was hard to leave his bronze's side, but his light snoring was a sure sign that he was deeply asleep.
The feast was in full swing when he finally arrived, he may have been the 3rd candidate off the sands but Kayth just never seemed to stop eating and had to poke at everything. the hunger of his dragonet still had it's hold on him, but it had been a big, long day for all of them.
Earisa
Maideneth had given Earisa the biggest scare when the over enthusiatic green had nearlky choked on her food before the young rider could have uttered a single warning. From then on only one piece at a time was placed in her reach with strict instructions to chew it before it was given to her. It was slow but it gave Earisa a chance to see the other new Weyrling pairs come off the sands. It was a while before another girl finally came out and a few others not long after. She had been worried for a moment...
She shouldn't have been because of the queen egg, but when no gold she had to ask. Apparently the queen egg was really the bouncy violet with the harper girl, that was as much a surprise as the oddly colored greens. If this was from a gold's clutch, what would Kelth lay?!
Once the bright green had finished eating it was time to put hte dragons to bed. Maideneth wasn't the least bit tired, but ended up nealry falling asleep before they got to the barracks. Earisa had to use all her strength to lift the almost sleeping dragon onto her bed. Would it always be like this? Having a dragon that went full pelt till she was completely worn out?
Now that the ordeal was over she finally had time to acknowledge the meaning of today. She had Impressed! She hadn't been left standing and the even the claw marks in her arm couldn't have dampened it over all. Where was Zadari? Was it true she re-impressed a green?!
Inolyn
Jorindath hadn't been all that hard to control, the offer of food being more then enough of an excuse to sit still long enough to fill the gigantic hole that was her stomach. Being one of the largest, if not the largest, meant there was only more space to stuff full of meat. It was a little bit of a shame that her violet wasn't more the queen that everyone had wanted her to be, but Jorindath was more then she could have expected or wanted. A green or a barred would have pleased her but the violet had wanted her and she couldn't refuse.
Once the violet was sleeping peacefully in the female barracks Inolyn just had to write down the continuation of the song she had wrote just after the egg touching. It would have been good to release the song now the hatching was over but it was just too rough! The instrumental parts hadn't been finished and it would be a disater not to have it practiced first. Maybe Weyrling graduation...
When she entered the the harpers were just having a short break, bursting into cheers that one of their own had impressed a queen. Her parents hadn't been able to make it, but they would have been proud of her nother the less. She offered to sing a part later, but right now she wanted to enjoy the occassion and hopefully get to know her fellow weyrlings.

Kora smiled at Y'xem and motioned towards the chair next to her. "Take a seat, the dragons already have." She laughed softly, a little more drawn out than usual by the bouyant atmosphere. Nayarath rumbled.
They aren't Candidates anymore, Nayarath replied, nuzzling Alduth's shoulder in greeting. Or at least most of them. A couple Candidates had been left standing, but it was good to know they had more than enough. Holders were worried about Thread too then, finally willing to turn their children over to the whim of dragons.
~~~~~~
Aleyi smiled and stroked the Brown that landed on her shoulder and sat down next to T'lat. "Those are nice names. I'm Aleyi, that's Jerglith." She pointed to the Blue who was now inching his nose closer to T'lat's knife, nostrils flared curiously.
Don't you go sniffing that, Aleyi warned the hatchling, Boys carry them around to show off more than to hurt but they're still dangerous. Jerglith drew back abruptly and settled himself next to Aleyi with a soft snort.
Isn't it exciting to be out of the eggs? He asked Hansth. In Jerglith's opinion it was wonderful. All the colors and smells and tastes, so many things to be discovered... there were plenty of frightening things too, but he could deal with those.
~~~~~~~
Tirasha gave Tianthe a stern look as the Green began to approach the offered plate. The last thing she needed was the flitt thinking it really was alright to take from others, she would probably do it a lot more that way. Catching the mental drift, Tianthe drew back and continued to wolf down the contents of Tirasha's own plate.
Willow turned his head to chirp a greeting to the little Gold who appeared from behind the other girl's head, not at all flirting as some Bronzes might but simply being respectful to a queen. Then he joined his sister in eating the contents of the Healer's plate, although slower and with less mess.
"Toath?" Tirasha picked up a roll and picked at an edge absently, not quite planning to eat it. "He's a pretty Brown... although very dark." Hopefully she was matching them up right... but how hard was it to remember when there was only one girl who got a Brown?
The Healer sneered. "No." Sharding women had to jump to the stupidest conclusions; this girl was a Weyrling for Faranth's sake, whatever they thought, it would make no difference until a couple years had passed. "Whatever women those were are sharding dimglows."

As the two new Weyrlings talked at their empty table, V'ire felt a gentle press on his mind. " No, it couldn't be! Really? Here?" V'ire stood and looked around, seeing the top of a little dark green head coming toward him in the dark, barely avoiding hitting people in her excitement.
" Elisth! Get over here you crazy little ball of energy!" He grinned as the Green dragonet came bounding up to Hers.
Mine! Mine! I woke up and you were gone! I came to find you, and here you are! Can I stay?!
" Of course you can dear heart!" He scratched the Green's head and sat back down. " Sorry about all that."
Z'ris shook his head, with a big grin, and said " Nothing to worry about V'ire, nothing at all." Z'ris pointed to their new table mate, busy with his fire-lizard.
" Ah, hello there! The name's V'ire...and this little Green right here is Elisth." V'ire smiled over at the boy.
" And I'm Z'ris, my Bronze is asleep in the Barracks...his name's Jacklith."
Y'xem smiled and sat next to Kora. " Enjoying yourself yet?" He sighed and began to relax a bit himself in this rather comfortable chair.
Yes, pity all of them couldn't Impress. Ah, well. Let us relax now, our children are all hatched and strong. Alduth purred to her in the growing moonlight. ((OOC: This is just about as close to romantic as dragons get I suppose...XD))
Y'xem looked over at Kora still smiling. " Perhaps one of us should get this feast underway so that everyone can eat. I'm sure that the Weyrlings are hungry...and so am I. You want to do the honors?"

T'lat looked at the blue and said to it " Hello Jerglith." T'lat then was getting nervous and he pulled out his knife and began to spin it around his hand again. Hansth looked at Jerglith and said Yes I guess so. Yet Hansth was worried what sort of bad things might happen now that he was out of the egg in this new world. It was then that T'lat saw Amarna and he remembered she was the girl who aslo like to play with knifes and he smiled and called out to her " Hey Amarna why don't you come over here and sit with us." Iron then flew over to Amarna and landed on her shoulders and chriped a greeting at her. Then Hansth looked the girl his was talking to and said to her Hello Amarna

It was with great reluctance that Zadari had showed up to the feast. Maiath was just... the most important thing in her life, and unlike many of the new weyrlings, Zadari knew what it was like to lose the most important thing. She didn't want to miss even a moment with Maiath, the little green who had pulled her from the emptiness and fiulled her life with colour. Still, she'd been asleep, and she supposed she should come meet some of the new weyrlings.
Stepping forward a few steps, Zadari let her eyes skate over the people she'd be learning - re-learning really - alongside. Some even had their dragons with them, had Maiath not been asleep... Maybe, but she had been and it was best to meet and greet as many as she could before Maiath woke from- A startled yelp came from Zadari as something literally barrelled into her legs, along with Scuttle popping in to chitter in worry at his bonded. "What on Pern?" Oh ZaddyMine! I'm sorry, I'm so, so, so sorry! Your Maiath woke, and you were gone. And I was so scared. I just had to find you Zaddy. I'm sorry, did I hurt you? I didn't mean to, please say you're okay!
Despite being bonded to her for such a short time, Zadari knew Maiath's voice as intimately as she'd known Sitath's, and as she turned to reassure her, she almost laughed. Maiath was looking at her like she was afraid she'd leave, yet it was Maiath who'd tangled her wings. Gently untangling her dragon, Zadari smiled lovingly and ran a hand down her neck gently. "Hey sweetie, I'm sorry I left. I thought you'd sleep." Mine is not angry? "With you? Maiath, no. Never." Slowly, the green uncurled from her little ball and rested her head against Zadari's chest. "Sweet, I have to get up." With that, Maiath stepped back, glancing about her shyly before ducking behind Zadari's legs. So... I can stay here with you? "If you'd like to sweetie."
*
"I'm not going." Mermaiyeth wasn't giving in any more than Beka was, and for all that she was sleepy, she stubbornly stated she wasn't sleeping until Beka went to the feast. Yes. You are. Mine, they expect it, I don't think they'll care if you are not prettied up, you look fine to me. She told Hers softly, reaching over to run her head along Beka's arm, crooning quietly to her rider. Hers. All hers.
"Mermaiyeth... Please, I don't want to go. I'll have no one to talk to." But you will be hungry. I am sleepy, I will sleep and if I wake up, I'll come find you. No one will hurt you Mine, your Mermaiyeth would never let that happen. The firm note in Mermaiyeth's voice caused another pause, and Beka finally nodded, giving in as she rested her hand on Mermaiyeth's shoulder for a moment. "Fine but I won't be long."
At the weyrbowl, Beka would have been quite happy to stick to herself, Mermaiyeth - who had finally dropped off to sleep - couldn't complain. She'd come, and now she was quite content to stay alone. With or without Mermaiyeth, she couldn't talk to people, the very thought of what could happen if she allowed herself to relax... She had to find a table eventually though... Later, yes, later.

Kayla had to wake up her new dragon Nightingalath, since she was sleeping when they had to leave for the feast. Nightingalath got up soon enough but was tired although she quickly got her energy back as they were walking toward the feast. The smells of food came down the halls. Kayla was excited to see the other new wyerlings again. Nightingalath walked regally down the hall, she might be a green but she acted like a gold. Kayla rolled her eyes at the little dragon who didn't seem to notice. At the wyerbowl she saw a bunch of the candidates and it seemed that others had not arrived. She knew this was going be a fun experience. Lets go over there Mine. she ran in a direction toward harpers. She didn't think Nightingalath liked music, strange.

"Zadari! Zadari! I finally found you!" Earisa creid as she finally found the girl and green hatchling in the crowd. Her arm was bandaged up and held against her as if in an invisable sling. Some looked deep enought to scar but she would one day in the future show them off with pride. These was her small permenant reminder that she should always try to keep her eyes on the prize, and be careful of claws.
"I thought i had seen you with a green coming off the hatching grounds!" Zadari had given Earisa the strenght to continue on in the last sevenday before the hatching, as much as she had wanted to run away. Now they both had greens, though Maiath looked a little smaller then Maideneth. It didn't matter, Zadari had been given a second chance at a life long bond that had been tradgicly cut short once before with Sitath.
"How can she be awake thought? Maideneth is out like an old glow, but it had been a big day afterall."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D'mas notice the female weyrling sitting to the side, Beka if his memory served him right. She had Impressed one of those unusual Barred greens and now seemed as fine a time as ever to ask a few questions about the strange phanominom. No one knew much more about them other that they were females and the dragons called them 'barred' instead of greens.
"Beka, why are you sitting alone? Didn't your family come to watch the hatching?" D'mas's uncle had been the only one available to bring up to the weyr on short notice, almost ready to return with his account of the day. That the first bronze to hatch had taken no time in choosing their boy, a fine, large and strong beast that shone copper but was a bronze none the less. Completely bias as his uncle's detailing made it may sound it still held most of the true important facts; that Kayth was a strong, healthy dragon and D'mas had impressed a bronze.
Inolyn couldn't help but laugh as the green bounded up and sat herself up close to the stage, what looked like Kayla being urged to follow. Had Jorindath been awake and with them, she was sure the violet would be siting with the green Nightingalath. What a long name for a dragon!
"Sit with me Kayla, before the Weyrleader's think i should be sitting closer to their table." Inolyn encouraged the girl at a table quite close to the stage. "I hope to take a turn singing tonight, i don't need to but it may be my last chance to sing with a trained voice."
If there was one thing D'rshan hated, it was most likely social functions. He couldn't dance very well, but it didn't help that he was very much an introvert. He hadn't danced in years, mainly due to his almost obsessive avoidance of anything that would require him to leave his forge. He would have much rather been crafting his glass, hiding from the world.
But Princth had had other ideas. After feeding the brown, D'rshan had made the mistake of mentioning the Weyrling Feast. Princth had strong-armed his rider into going, telling the weyrling rider that he had certain responsibilities now and that attending feasts was one of them.
That was how the glasscrafter/weyrling found himself in the back of the room, trying his hardest to disappear even though that wasn't possible. He figured he wasn't all that easy to hide, being one of the oldest weyrlings. He'd dressed somewhat nice due to Princth's efforts in a sandy yellow-colored tunic that had been embroidered modestly along the hemline. The yellow was offset by his dark brown trousers, and D'rshan hoped perversely that the colors of his clothing would help him hide more effectively.
"Oh, Hi," Amarna responded with smile while moving over to sit with them. "I see that your Hansth decided to come with you," She added while she unconsciously started rubbing the flits head knobs in acknowledgment. She then added, "Holleth was to tired to come. She decided to sleep instead."
Amarna almost jumped when she was spoken to by Hansth. "Oh,um, hi Hansth. She still wasn't totally used to this mind speech concept and it startled her when a dragon spoke unexpectedly to her, even her own Holleth startled her sometimes. She knew that she would get used to it sometime, but that didn't mean she was used to it yet.
