"Do I?" Kora blanched. "Um... I guess I could." What did one say at the start of the Hatching Feast? It had been three years... It looked as thought plenty were already eating... the feast was underway without her saying anything wasn't it?
I believe that Y'xem should do it, Nayarath commented playfully, knowing already that Hers wouldn't much like going up in front of everyone. It can be his punishment for being late to the Hatching and the egg touching. Her words were projected to Alduth and Kora, hopefully her mate would take the hint.
~~~~~~
"And I'm Aleyi," Aleyi stood again and held out her hand to Amarna. "That's Jerglith." The Blue sniffed curiously at Amarna. She had Impressed one of the odd striped Greens. Barreds did they call themselves?
I feel like people prefer to ignore us, Jerglith whispered (although what the point of that was when only Aleyi could hear his voice anyways, she had no idea) shyly. The boy with the Bronze looked ready for them to leave, the way he was spinning his knife, and ever since the new girl had come they had hardly been looked at.
No, she's just greeting him first. Aleyi was not the slightest bit deterred, although her dragon continued to wonder. Perhaps it was only because he was new to the world... His knew more than he did.
Meagen's eyes slid closed as she breathed a long sigh of relief. That was short lived as her miniature fair, popped up from between, and decided to drape themselves on her legs and the table. Jareth was the first to turn towards Tianthe and start to flirt lightly. Creeling and preening lightly around the pretty little green. Hope on the other hand was now off of meagen's hair and person and was standing near Willow. Hope trilled lightly and started to examine the male flitt, intrigued at his color.
Meagen then noticed the exceptionally bright color of the little gold, and noticed that Guardian was getting very very nervous around other male flitts. She then turned to look at the Healer woman and smiled, "A gift... for being my first new friend..." she commented lightly and motioned to hope. "notice her color? That signifies one thing, when she glows as bright as that, and Guardian gets this fidgety... it means Hope will rise soon. I offer you, one egg from her clutch. Of your choice of size...." She said cheerfully as she looked towards Dancer. "I am expecting Dancer to rise soon as well. " She commented lightly.
She was leaving behind all remnants of the conversation before. That was until a nice deep voice boomed through her mind. MEAGEN MINE WHERE ARE YOU!! the distressed male voice bellowed through her mind. "Ow... shards..." She muttered as she closed her eyes and looked up towards the Weyrlings barracks. At the Hatching Feast love, come and make yourself known then... Meagen replied to Toath. "Toath is coming" She said with a soft laugh.
Tianthe gurgled but clutched her bit of meat a little closer to her. She liked flirting and being flirted with was even better, but didn't want to share her food. The Green at least didn't seem to be near Rising, although Tianthe always seemed to act at least a little proddy. Willow glanced at the Gold curiously. He had no thoughts of flirting, although he was quick to notice the Gold's color. Noticing the anxious Bronze nearby killed any thoughts he may have had of catching the pretty queen.
Tirasha smiled but shook her head. "I'm just fine with Tianthe and Willow, so I think I'll turn down the offer. Maybe you can earn another Mark with the egg I don't take." The roll continued to turn in her hands, it was one likely to go uneaten for some time.
Tianthe finished her current piece of meat and grabbed a second from Tirasha's plate, then gazed at Meagen curiously, probably wondering why the girl had muttered ow. "He is?" Tirasha smiled slightly. She liked the ungainly little dragonets, this odd Brown would probably be fun to meet.
Shador
Shador had been happy about an hour ago. Now, she was in a rotten mood. She had spent a long time trying to pick a dress. Each one seemed to have something wrong--too short, too long, she looked fat in it. Kelth was fast asleep and being no help at all. Finally, she settled on a classic "little back dress." Reaching for her sandals, she saw there was only one, and she spent fifteen minutes looking for the second one, and by the time she did, she had thrown the first one across the room in frustration. After all of that searching, her hair was messed up, and she had to brush it all over again. Finally, she managed to make it down to the Feast.
I'm going to go and congratulate K'met first, she thought to herself, looking around for the Weyrlingmaster. She circled the room, but he was nowhere to be seen. Kelth, where is... She trailed off, remembering that the Violet was still asleep. Finally, she saw Heverth drop his rider off, and she grabbed a glass of wine before hurrying over to K'met, unnaturally excited to see the Bronzerider.
"K'met!" She cried, chummily throwing an arm around his shoulders. "Congrats on your new group of weyrlings. A great bunch, really." Grinning, she took his arm and tugged him in the direction of the tables, pulling harder than she had intended. "Come on, let's go sit down. The Weyrleaders look ready to start."
M'ran
Once Firth was curled up asleep in the barracks, M'ran left for the Feast. He didn't like to leave Firth, but he knew that he had to let the young Brown sleep. His stomach growled as he walked, and he headed straight for the food, filling up a generous plate.
He headed for one of the tables, wondering who to sit with. He nibbled at his food as he went, assuring his stomach that it could stop growing now.
L'noen
Peasanth had insisted on accompanying L'noen to the Feast. He wanted to be in on the action! He struck a pose as he and his rider arrived, and L'noen shook his head, grinning. Peasanth was quite the interesting dragon. He moved around the groups of weyrlings, slowly making his way towards the food.
Akila burst out of frigid between over the Hatching Feast. He bore, bound to his left foreleg, a message tube from His, Sabre. The tube's leather was dyed black, but not just any black. It was a color he knew as Sabreblack, just as the sky-blue cover was not just any old blue, it was Sabreblue!
Multifaceted eyes sparked dimly as he swiveled his neck searching for a head he'd not seen often. Sabre had been very specific when she'd pictured it for him, if he could only find the sharding thing!
A~ha!
Akila dipped his wings to stoop into a dive, pulling up about a foot above the Weyrwoman's head. He landed gracefully on the table in front of both Weyrleaders, neither of which matched His for height, though they were both taller than most of the others present.
He proffered his foreleg with the ease of practice, chirping to draw her attention.
His message read:
Golden Sabresk shall clutch within the month. I shall meet with you this evening to discuss items of importances, such as candidates, and lodgings.
Convey my congratulations to Nayarath.
Formally, Sabre
T’lat smiled at Amarna and then reached out with his hand that was not spinning the knife on Hansth’s side. Hansth's then turned to him and said What is it Mine? T'lat repiled to him Nothing my friend. Yet it was not nothing for some reason Amarna's presance made him nervous, but he did not know why. He then said to her “ Yeah he did not want to leave me alone.” Hansth made a rumbling sound that was like a laugh when he saw he had startled Amarna. He said to her I am sorry to have startled you. T’lat then noiticed the knife that Amarna was wearing and said “ That is a nice looking knife can I take a closer look at it?”
Looking up at the sound of her name, Zadari grinned as she saw Earisa. At least the girl had Impressed as well, she'd been so upset not that long ago. So had she to think of it, funny how things could change so quickly. Seeing her arm bandaged, she gave it a concerned look, not having seen it happen on the grounds. Then again, she'd been concentrating on continuing breathing at the time. "Hello Earisa."
Maiath glanced shyly at the other weyrling, attempting to curl herself further behind Zadari as Hers continued speaking to the other girl, "I didn't think it was possible..." Zadari honestly didn't care that Maiath was tiny, she was the sweetest little green and she was hers, she had another chance, just like Earisa had gotten her chance. To think what would have happened if Earisa hadn't gone to the hatching, something might have happened to Maideneth.
"I thought she'd be asleep too. She woke up when she realised I wasn't there I guess." Yes, Mine left me and I was scared... Maiath whispered, pressing closer to Zadari as she eyed the other weyrling cautiously. She didn't know this girl, but Hers did.. "Maideneth wore herself out then?"
*
Beka was - to say the least - startled as someone spoke to her, turning her head quickly before relaxing only slightly. He was a weyrling, that was all she knew. She'd seen him on the sands, but couldn't remember his name, not that she'd spoken to him much, she tended to avoid the males at all costs. This... was one of the reasons why. Family.. His family had come to watch him Impress, his family had cared enough, her family... Shards, she didn't even know where her "family" was.
"I-I, I guess I just.. Just didn'y want t-to intru-intrude on any one else." The first question was easy, for as long as Beka kept to herself, she was reasonably safe no harm, no foul. Easy, yet, people seemed to seek her out. First Meagan, and then... Um... This weyrling. D something maybe? "N-no. I-I'd be m-more afraid i-if they had come." Her mother, not so much afraid as worried, if her father had shown up - impossible as it was - she probably would have remained in the barracks. "M-my family... Does-doesn't really-" What? Care? That was an understatement, the only thing her father cared about when it came to her was causing pain. No one needed to know anything of her shunned past though, and she wasn't sure she wanted to say anything.
Alduth rumbled and nodded, passing on the message...not really softening the words. He knows now Nayarath.
Y'xem grinned and hugged Kora to him. " I'm sorry about that Kora, but I think that Nayarath's idea is good enough." Now he stood and smiled out at the gathered Weyrlings, family, and other people from the Weyr. He saw C'it slink in from the side, having just came back from an errand right after the Hatching so Y'xem wouldn't be late again.
He cleared his throat. Alduth sent out a message to everyone to pay attention to the Weyrleader at the same time.
" Now, I know some have already started to eat and such but I feel that someone should get this Feast officially underway. That duty has fallen to me, being elected fairly by certain means," and his mouth twitched in a smile, " I now officially congratulate all the Weyrlings for Impressing! And to those few that did not Impress, do not worry! There will be more chances! Now, if time permits tonight and the wine isn't so good that I drink myself unconscious...the Weyrwoman and Myself may get to see all of the Weyrlings at the Feast! Now enjoy yourselves and don't over do it!" He smiled again and then sat back down.
" How was that?" He asked Kora with a grin.
Earisa saw how Zadari's eyes tended to rest on her injured arm, not that she minded. "My arm got injured when Maideneth ran into me, I've never seen something move so fast! After she ate i tried to herd her to the barracks but she ended up collapsing just before we made it and fell asleep as soon as I managed to lift her onto her bed."
It's had been no easy task lifting the dragonet that small rise into her bed. It had been a wonder she hadn't scratched herself up even more then she had, but she was tough and would cope.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How could they not have cared?! The stupidity of some poeple..." D'mas genually meant that. The north had been lost to Thread and the south was all they had, did some poeple really WANT to be devoured in the most slow and horrible way?
"Oh! how silly of me, forgot we've never been introduced. I'm D'mas, weyrling to bronze Kayth." Her stuttering concerned him but if she didn't want to speak about it then he wouldn't press. Sometimes it was better to just change the subject all together. "It's been a long day for the both of us, I suggest we eat something."

Amarna almost laughed at the dragons apology and said to the dragon, "No need to apoligize, I am just still startled sometimes to hear voices in my head." When T'lat asked to see the knife, Amarn carefully took it out. She gently fingered its hilt, a soft smile on her face, yes this was nice craftsmen ship. Then she spun it in the air and caught it by it lovely hilt before passing it to T'lat and saying, "It is one of my favorites. I like its balance. The hilt, though it is fancy, balances with the blade well, making it so that you could balance the blade at the joint between hilt and blade and it would stay.It is the blades length that does the balancing, not the material. What do you think of it?

T'lat took the knife and looked at it. He then began to blance it by the tip of the blade on the end of his finger and then he used his finger to throw it up and caught it in the same postion it was before he threw it. He smiled and said " Yes very good blanace." He then wondered and put it on his finger and blanaced it by the the joint bettewen the blade and the and he began to spin it around his finger and he smiled as he did this and then tossed it with hois finger into the other hand and said " This is the second knife I have found that had the blance to do that." He then deiced to test the sharpness of the blade the best way he knew how and made a small cut on his hand. He then looked up at Amarna " It is well sharpened too."
Hansth then said to T'lat sternly Mine there was no reason to test it's sharpness like that. I better not see you do anything like that again. T'lat repiled to him Ok my love. I won't. Yet Hansth still was worried that his still would and this brothered him greatly.
T'lat then began to toss the blade up and down and spin it around his hand. He then passed it back it back to Amarna and said " It is a good blade. It some of the best balance I have seen and it is beautiful looking. This blade is a good reflection of it's owner." He blushed a bit when he said this but he hoped no one noticed.

"Ah, well, I suppose we learn to get out of the way then don't we?" Zadari laughed softly, revelling in the sound. How long had it been since she'd laughed? Since she'd felt this blissfully happy? Rukbat had risen in her world, and as long as Maiath looked to her, then so it would stay. "I hate to say that I didn't actually see your Impression, I was concentrating on continuing breathing."
Maiath crept out from behind Zadari slowly, sniffing at Earisa cautiously, eyes whirling nervously as she kept her tail wrapped around Zadari's leg as she shyly bumped the other girl's leg before hiding behind her rider again. "She says hello, she's just shy."
*
Beka couldn't help but let a scowl darken her features, her mouth thinning. He sounded so shocked. How was that fair? "The only reason my father-" The word was spat out like it was poison, Beka's voice dripping with hate for said man, "Would even try to come would be to punish me for thinking I could escape my life with him. He's Shunned for a reason." Stopping in shock, Beka's face paled slightly. The words had come so easily, and all because of frustration with the unfairness of the world. It really just wasn't fair that every one else got loving families and hers only wanted to see her crying and bleeding.
"Beka, of green-" BARRED! "Barred, sorry, Mermaiyeth." The moment she'd been corrected, Beka allowed a smile as Mermaiyeth dropped once more into sleep. No one was going to get away with calling her a silly green. "Um, yeah, I suppose. D-did you want to sit with m-me?" The nervous stutter was back, eying D'mas carefully.

Amarna raised her eyebrows a touch when T'lat checked the sharpness, but didn't say anything. She quietly watched as he span it and then passed it to her. She took the knife back delicately, and said, "It is kept sharp for use. A knife can look pretty and be fun to work with, and well-balanced, but what is the point if it is not sharp?"
She almost laughed when T'lat made his comment about the knife being a good reflection of her and answered with, "Thank you, but I do not think I live up to the blade that I hold." She did not notice the blush, as she carefully put away the knife, though carefully did not mean slow.
She then added, "A good blade is worth a life. So, what do you think of the barred dragons? They are pretty cool aren't they," She said with a slight smile, thinking fondly of her lovely Holleth. "I think it is cool, all the different colors coming out."

"You know what?" Aleyi glanced at Jerglith and then back at T'lat and Amarna, both quite cheerfully ignoring her. "I'll betcha anything we could leave, grab some food, and throw a bubbly pie in their face and they wouldn't notice. Let's go."
Are you actually going to do that Mine? Jerglith stood and followed His as they started towards the tables with food, a worried edge to his voice and movements.
"Of course not, that'd be a waste of good food." She grinned and rubbed the Blue's eyeridges. "We'll just find nicer people. Knives are so dumb."
~~~~~~~~~
Kora gave a relieved smile as Y'xem got up to do the welcoming, and then nodded when he got back. "Fine." She was reaching out to her plate, planning to grab a roll to eat, when a Bronze fire-lizard came down practically on top of her, then landed on the table. He had a message...
"For me?" She carefully took the message off the flitt's leg and opened it up. A message from Sabre... why hadn't she just come? Apparently her wher would be clutching soon. Kora held out the message to Y'xem and nodded to the Bronze. "Thank you little one. We'll be waiting for her I guess." The message had said Sabre would meet with them, right? Sabre congratulates you, dear heart.
Everyone should be doing so, Nayarath replied absently. She was feeling tired herself after the day's excitement. And where was Lilac?
~~~~~~
Amirinth grumbled softly, not happy about arriving to the feast late. K'laon didn't seem too worried, he headed for the food, paying little attention as the Weyrleader formally announced the start of the feast. Apparently people couldn't think to wait for that, and he hadn't needed to since he had come late. It had been Amirinth's fault really, even though she denied it.
The Green landed on the heights next to a Bronze, Heverth was it?, and looked over the feast with cheerfully whirling eyes. That was a lovely Hatching, wasn't it? She commented to him. If she was going to be sitting with a male, she may as well make conversation.

Meagen nodded and smiled weakly as she started to eat from her plate slowly. She dusted her hands off and turned to look straight at the woman next to her. "I am sorry for my current actions, I guess impression and everything else... is just taking a toll on me." She said with a weak smile. "Especially having to set up shop... soon... " She said with a weak smile and a soft but gentle laugh. "I may seem hard to get along with at first... but... thats just... me" She said as she extended her hand towards the healer.
The brown hatchling(As he was still very young), bounded down to where the others where, and made his way through the crowd. He didn't care if people where lookign at him funny, AH there was his mine. The brown zeroed in on her and waddled on over, his belly still full from his earlier meal. He creeled happily to her, and then headbutted her knee, resting his head on her knee. Meagenmine, your Toath is here now.... who is this lady with you? I saw her at the hatching, tending to my brother Tan's bonded.......

T'lat smiled and looked at Amarna and said " Yes it would probably be useless if not properly taken care of." He looked at Hansth and began to scratch his head between his eye ridges. He then looked back at Amarna and said to her " Of course you live up to the blade you hold. You should not belittle yourself." When she spoke of the Barred He replied to her " Yes I would agree that they are quite beautiful. I think that the blend in colors suits them quite well."

M'ran smiled at Aleyi as she came up to the food tables. "Hey, congrats on Impressing. It's Aleyi, right?" He asked, hoping that he didn't get her name wrong. He looked down at the Blue, wishing that Firth had come with him to the Feast for a moment. But the little Brown had seemed so tired, and M'ran wasn't really planning to stay for too long. "Your Blue is lovely."

Tirasha shrugged. "It's fine." Her gaze lingered briefly on Meagen's hand for a long moment before she realized the girl was probably holding it out for her to shake it, and did so quickly. Formalities like that always struck the Healer as very odd.
Tianthe, finishing her second strip of meat, decided she could put off eating more for a bit and turned to chirp cheerfully to the Bronze that had been preening around her. Would he play Chase with her? Willow didn't like to, but sometimes she could find other flitts. There were a quite a few fire-lizards here actually, at least one of them had to be willing to play with her...
"So this is Toath?" Tirasha started to reach out to stroke the Brown but pulled back a moment later, suddenly unsure whether it was alright to touch him. Some people got very protective of their dragons, especially when they were young. Covering up the movement with a touch of unsurity, she moved her hand to tuck some hairs that had escaped her braid behind her ear. "He's pretty."
~~~~~
Aleyi nodded and smiled. "Yup. And he's Jerglith." She rubbed the young Blue's eye ridge and he looked up at the boy happily, liking the compliment. "You Impressed a Brown didn't you?" That was probably all she knew about him, Aleyi wasn't sure she had talked to this boy before. She had just seen him at the Hatching.
Y'xem grinned as the little Bronze took off again. " Yes, too bad she couldn't make it..."
Alduth sighed, but gave Nayarath a nuzzle. Let's just try to enjoy ourselves.
Y'xem looked around at all the people beginning to eat and pulled his plate closer to him. He had already filled it with all sorts of juicy meats and breads. He was fairly hungry, hungry enough at least.
C'it had just arrived during the 'Opening Speech' and settled down next to another group of riders. He wiped his forehead and smiled at them. " Hello everyone, sorry I'm so late. Business for the Weyrleader. I'm C'it for those of you I haven't met."
Roluth on the other hand was settling down next to a couple of other dragons. A Bronze and a Green...in the back of his mind he hoped that they weren't Weyr-mates. As he came down to settle, he settled on the Green's other side.
He recognized the Bronze as Heverth and the Green was....Amirinth. Hello Heverth, enjoy the Hatching? And Amirinth! I'm sure such a beautiful Green enjoyed such a happy occasion?
