Amarna laughed at his comment about belittling herself and replied back with, "A person is there worst critisism, so I feal I have the right to critisize myself so that I won't feel as bad when others critisize and I will not think myself worthy of compliments." After she said this he gave a sly smile and said, "Of course a person might say, but not feel there critisism. Never believe what you hear, for though a blade is straight forward, a person's speech is riddles and crooked narrow pathways with dead ends." She then added, "Never thought there would be mix of green and violet... Happy to impress such a wonderful bronze?" Amarna's speech was full of riddles and she was having fun playing with her words, using them like her knives, delicitly and profetionaly.
******************************************************
Heverth replied to the b;ue and green in one voice, Hello, to the both of you. Yes, I agree the hatching was a good one. What do you al think of those new Barred dragons?

Amirinth rumbled softly, liking this new situation. Roluth was a Blue she liked, but Heverth was still a Bronze. Such a lovely Blue should have too, correct? Amirinth did very much. There were many Greens like her. That comment was for Roluth, her next went to both males as she replied to Heverth's question. Amirinth think they are very pretty. She wishes she had those lovely stripes...
Well, Amirinth seemed happy. K'laon chuckled softly, glancing back at the little Green. Yes, she must be very content pressed between a couple of males. He finished gathering his food and arrived at a table with a few other riders in time to hear C'it introducing himself.
"And what was this errand?" He asked playfully as he set his food down and sat himself. "It must have been important to keep you from getting to the feast on time."
~~~~~
Kora nodded. "It is. I suppose that wher of hers must be feeling really broody to hold her back from coming to the feast." She didn't like imagining the woman simply didn't want to come. Sabre seemed to be doing her best to keep on good terms with the Weyr, although she didn't attend too many parts of it.
Yes. Nayarath rumbled softly. How could she not enjoy herself? She was free from the Hatching Grounds now, and with twenty-six dragonets to show for it! The other dragons perch on the heights, not by the lake. Maybe we could go join them? Much as she liked him, Nayarath couldn't spend all her time just with Alduth. Talking with the other dragons was fun anyways.
T'lat smiled at Amarna's wordplay even though it was not something he preferred to do. Nor was he proficient at it himself he said " Yet what is you reason for speaking in riddles unless you have something to hide. All I see from that is something hiding that one does not want another to obtain and of course you have the right to criticize yourself, but that does not mean that you should. Even if say that you don't feel your criticism I know that you are lieing because why would you criticize yourself for no reason." He smiled and then put his hand on Hansths side and said " Yes I believe that I am happy to have been chosen by a creature as wonderful as my Hansth."
Toath actually leaned towards the woman, when she reached out for him. She called me pretty! I guess I am in a way, though I like handsome better. Tell her my eyeridge itches, I would like her to scratch it! He announced to his bonded. Meagen gave a faint snorting laugh as she stroked a finger down Hopes muzzle and looks towards Tirasha. "Toath says he would like you to scratch his eyeridge. I think he likes you too" she said with a soft laugh.
She looked off towards the other riders, and the people at the Hatching feast. "It's a whole new world here..." She whispered softly. "Now I am free" she whispered even lighter. Thats why you are mine... I couldn't stand to see a princess harmed! ... I picked you so no one else would, and that boy in your mind wouldn't get to you! he creeled to her lightly. Toath also loved Meagenmine from teh moment he saw her!
A tall, dark figure strode across the floor of the Weyr Bowl. Green eyes peer out from sparse golden lashes, over a finely crafted nose. A long braid of dark honey hangs off her left shoulder, the end coming down to just about even with her navel. A leather-wrapped longsword rests by her right side, and a bronze firelizard sits on her shoulder.
She arrived on the day of young Nayarath’s first Hatching, it seemed. Sabre tucked her thumbs into her sky-blue belt, feeling as if she needed to appear lofty. Akila twittered on her shoulder, not altogether happy about coming away from Sabresk so soon to clutching. The bronze had attached himself to the wher almost as solidly as he was attached to Sabre herself.
“Now, I wonder where Her Womanliness is,” Sabre mused to herself, using her own title for the Weyrwoman. She could see the young rider- while most riders would look up to the Weyrwoman in both Turns and height, Sabre had fifteen Turns, and at least two inches on her.
”I don’t suppose she’ll remember that I was coming. Typical rider.”
Sabre held a thinly veiled tone of conceit as she sneered that last. She had never gotten along well with dragonriders, who regarded the whers as horrible mistakes. Why, she still remembered when the Weyrleader at Igen Weyr had appeared at Keroon- that long ago- and reduced the brown, Keroonsk, to gibberish.
For not the first time, Sabre wished she had a lackey to announce her presence. It would make these official visits ever so much easier. Mayhap one of the new handlers would take over that duty. She’d probably be able to keep at least a handful of the young ones, even though she’d gotten three firelizard messages from the mines. They were desperate for a wher. She’d send them three- one for each shift. But that all depended on how many eggs Sabresk laid!
Sabre approached the table that seated the lead riders, and claimed a seat for herself.
”I presume you got Akila’s message?” She raised her eyebrows as she said this, insinuating that she didn’t think so.
Kora nodded to the wherhandler, forcing herself to ignore the woman’s skeptical expression. “Yes, he came by just moments ago and I believe Y’xem still has it.” She motioned vaguely towards the Bronzerider. “So Sabresk will lay her eggs soon?”
The Weyrwoman had always been a bit intimidated by the violence of whers. People were killed at their hatchings, sometimes even by the Gold if she didn’t like a Candidate. Sometimes just for no reason at all but that the person had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Dragons are much more civilized,[/b][/color] Nayarath commented needlessly.
That’s why I went to your kinds’ hatching, dear heart, Kora replied gently. If her nervousness about whers seemed obvious to Sabre then so be it, at least she had a dragon.
Roluth gave a near silent croon. Of course I did, though this is probably just as good.
He then turned to look at both of the dragons next to him. Yes, those Barred's stripes are a little fetching...but a nice shiny Green hide is just as good. Roluth's eyes whirled slightly.
C'it grinned at K'laon, shaking a finger at the other rider. " No, no. I can't tell." He bit into a roll and sighed. Food was good.
Now Y'xem was enjoying his food...really enjoying it. He really wasn't paying much attention, but was lucky enough to see Sabre seat herself at the table.
He smiled and called out to her. " Hello Sabre! Glad you could make it! How's Sabresk doing?" He sighed for a minute and took a sip of wine.
Alduth nudged Nayarath's shoulder. Come on then Golden Nayarath, let us go talk to the others. I think Heverth is up there and Roluth is sweet-talking with Amirinth. He gave a draconic chuckle as he opened his wings lazily.
Earisa just smiled, “Actually I think I feel better that I don’t think anyone saw it. I was really embarrassed at first. And hello Maiath.” While there would have been some which saw her embarrassing collision, she was the second and last injury of the hatching. It wasn’t anything serious, but her arm would be wrapped up for a couple of weeks.
“I would introduce you to Maideneth, but that would have to wait till morning.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D’mas blinked for a second, firstly in uneasiness at having hit a tender cord with Beka and secondly in shock that she had come from the shunned. While he didn’t believe she was at any wrong, the abuse against her was horrendous! At least here in the weyr she would be safe here in the weyr with her loving dragon partner.
“Well since you don’t have anyone else to accompany you, would you mind if I sit with you?” he asked, more trying to change the subject.

"She'll be clutching within the month. I hear young Nayarth produced some...unique...colours this Hatching."
Her tone conveyed mild disinterest, though in reality, she wanted to know. New colours? Wher's hadn't mutated, not yet. If they ever would, which Sabre privately thought not. But perhaps...perhaps Akila might like a friend. Faranth only knew that the bronze was still smug over his victory in the green flight.
"Sabresk was fine when I left her, gorging herself on a freshly killed wherry. Broody, but that's to be expected. Uncomfortable. I expect at least a dozen eggs this clutch."
Akila left His' shoulder, and landed back on the table. He stared at the Weyrleader's plate, eyeing a slice of wherry.
He chirped inquisitively.
Sabre settled herself, one hand underneath the elbow she rested on the table, and her chin held lightly in her other palm. Her braid sagged in front of her shoulder, the bulky tie caught at her shoulderblade, but trying to work itself forward. She blinked, sparse lashes closeing over dark-sensitive green eyes.

Kora nodded. "We got more Tans and some greenish ones... they call themselves Barreds, I think." Sabre didn't sound like she really cared, more that she was just being formal in asking about it... but Kora replied anyways.
"That's good to know. I suppose you'll be sending most of them out to the mines though?" Or to Danac, there didn't seem to be a lot of places that could threaten it but there was never anything wrong with a few whers to keep an eye out for danger.
How shocking. Nayarath rumbled as she spread her wings and leapt upwards. It was only a short glide to the heights and she settled on the other side of Heverth. Hello, she greeted the trio cheerfully. Enjoying watching the humans' odd little traditions?
~~~
Tirasha grinned as she reached out to rub the little Brown. "That's good." The dragons had better like a Healer, they'd all be getting to know them before their final betweening. Hopefully that was a long ways away for Toath though, and all the new hatchlings.
"What?" Tirasha paused and glanced at Meagen uncertainly. She had said something... but the Healer hadn't quite caught it. Willow bumped Tirasha's unused arm to alert her he was taking a bit more to eat. Tianthe gurgled and bounded over to tackle her brother just as he picked something from Tirasha's plate and both rolled away a little, kicking and biting at each other playfully. The good Hatching obviously had put Willow in a good mood, for him to be playing.
~~~~
Amirinth rumbled. Of course it is. The Barred dragons were much too light anyways, the sun could shine on them and glare off and blind any male who thought to chase them. Green wasn't reflective like silver was.
She glanced over with surprise as Nayarath joined the group, perching next to Heverth. Were her interests wandering? How exciting. They are only celebrating your greatness, pretty queen. Amirinth replied with a playful toss of her head. Does your mate plan to join us too? The Green would quite like it if Alduth found his Gold's choice of perches preposterous.
K'laon raised his eyebrows. "You brag about a mission but can't even tell what it is? That can't be too good an idea." People would get curious... he'd have to tell sometime. Maybe he could work it out of the Bluerider later once everyone was a bit more into their wine...

"It's nothing to be ashamed of. Sitath pounced on me, I went face first and he proceeded to sit on my backside while claiming me. Maiath has much mroe grace than that." Zadari chuckled, surprising herself with the ease that Sitath's name had come. It still hurt, but it wasn't an overwhelming pain anymore, Maiath had healed the wound easily, so now it was just a scar.
Maiath merely stared at Earisa, looking for all the world as though she was intimidated by the other young woman. Hers was here though it was fine. Startled once again by a loud chirp, Maiath jumped, pressing closer against Zadari as Scuttle made an appearance, chattering happily. "Ugh, hello Scuttle." Zadari muttered, reaching up a hand for him to perch on as he purred and rubbed against her. "This is Earisa, say hello." The blue obliged with a happy chirp in greeting, "Earisa, this is insanity in it's purest form, my blue Scuttle." Scuttle perked up at this, letting out a sound that was close to a canine bark. Before he trilled and rubbed himself along Zadari's hand again.
*
"N-no.. I don't mind." Beka mumbled, shaking ehr head slowly. As long as he stayed a suitable distance away from her, it was fine. She was never letting anyone near her again, ever. In weyrling lessons, she'd just have to find a way to keep a distance, though no doubt her beautiful Mermaiyeth would help with that. Mermaiyeth seemed to understand her aversion to people, without understanding the reason, there was no way Beka was showing such a young dragon her memory.
"The weyr is... Well huge. I-I've never seen[/i[ s-so many peo-people."

She laughed and said, "I give up. I can't say anything bad about myself. You have convinced me." Amarna had decided that this little argument was not worthy of continueing, so she had ended it. it was that easy, or so she hoped. She was tired of trying to play with words, since she in truth normally couldn't say anything in riddles and the last time it had just spoken, but now, she had no more riddles in her. She smiled and said very solemly and quietly, "The dragon never chooses wrong. They always choose correctly. They know who they belong to." With that, a distanced look came over her face, remebering the joy of the impresssion early. It was felt strange, but yet she knew it was meant to be. It felt right. Like her Holleth was just the perfect bonded one, like she was an unkown part of her soul, that she loved dearly. And now she felt sorry for those that missed out.

Sabre cocked her head just ever-so slightly. The Weyrwoman sounded quite nervous when talking about the new colours, although that tone had been there since they began discussing Sabresk. She was quite familiar with riders being bigots, always convinced that dragons were the best thing on Pern's soil. Or in the skies, really.
"Aye. The mines sent me more messages today requesting whers. You know that they have had cave-ins." Sabre's tone never varied, but her brow furrowed a bit, and she let her eyebrows lift. In truth, she was worried about those cave-ins, because if the mines were going down, so would Pern.

T'lat smiled and said " That is good. I would not want you to say bad things about your self." He was gald she had ended the agurement becuase he knew that he was not good at riddles anyway. When she mention the dragons he said as he rubbed Hansth side " Yes I can agree they always choose right." Hansth then nuzzled his and said to T'lat Of cousre Mine when I chose you I chose right. There was no one else I would have chosen. T'lat smiled at the bronze and said I am gald that is so my love. I am gald that is so.

M'ran nodded, his face aglow with pride. "Yes, his name is Ferth. He's...perfect." He blushed slightly. "I mean, they all are, for their riders. I'm M'ran, by the way."
He pointed to a pair of empty seats at one of the tables. "Should we sit down and eat? I'm starving."

Y'xem looked down at the sudden fire-lizard at his plate. He picked up at piece of wherry meat and ate it while he looked at this Bronze, obviously Sabre's.
He grinned suddenly and handed the little devil a piece of the meat. " There you go...Akila is it? Enjoy that little fellow, and don't go stealing."
Alduth settled on the other side of Nayarath and gurgled at the conversation. Barred dragons are a very odd addition to our little family, but who knows what they could be hiding? Maybe they are exactly what we need. And greetings to you all, Amirinth, Roluth, and Heverth.
Alduth wondered what the Green found interesting for a minute until he thought about Heverth being on the other side of Nayarath and gave a rumble.
Roluth was still content with talking to Amirinth. Ah, hello Gold Nayarath and Alduth! Hmmm...I think I may agree with beautiful Amirinth on the Barreds though.

Kora nodded. "It's not good, that." If the mines were caving in, how would they get firestone and fight Thread? She didn't know how much a difference whers could make in that though... but it seemed probable that they could have lost a few whers in the cave-ins too, sensitive as they were rumored to be.
They are very pretty, I think, Nayarath agreed. Those stripes were very striking against their light hides. She wouldn't mind having a few of those...
Amirinth rumbled softly. Greetings to you also, lucky Bronze. She turned her head to nip playfully at Roluth's throat, easily catching on to his flirting and happy to do so back in her own way. Any smart Blue would agree with such a lovely Green, don't you think? Few seemed to realize it, but a Green's opinions were always very good ones.

"The miners have asked me to request a dragon. They would like to send me some likely lads to Bond with some of the Hatchlings."
Sabre's tone never changed- she could have been commenting on the spring weather, for the tone. She noted Kora's slightly puzzled look- she had no idea what functions whers performed in mines, did she? Her opinion of the rider dropped another notch.
"They lost another batch of Miners to their last cave-in. There were gases in the air that a wher would have caught. Blue are particularly suited to gas detection, they tell me."
Akila accepted the Weyrleader's offering, and turned to the Weyrwoman, obviously expecting the same treatment.
"Akila! Go hunt, if you're that hungry, though I know you fed off of Sabresk's kill."
It wasn't so much concern of her image in the weyr- although having a theiving pet wasn't on her list of impressions she wanted to make. It was more that Akila was accepting food from the hand of a rider- that was what irked her. She held her fist out for the bronze to come to.
Akila, contrary bronze he was, flitted into cold between, to re-emerge over his clutch

Y'xem looked over to Sabre and nodded. " We would be happy to send a couple of dragons Lady Sabre. C'it and Roluth would ablige as would a few other Blues and Greens. I think I could even make a trip to get a few Candidates for your Wher's eggs." He gave the Handler a smile.
Alduth rumbled at Nayarath. Nayarath, you are already beautiful enough. You don't need violet stripes! He nudged her neck lovingly.
Roluth on the other hand would have blushed red if he would have been human. She was flirting back! Hmm..yes, but the real thing is that any Smart Blue would see that the Green IS very beautiful, would he not?
He wouldn't dare touch her though, no no...a Flight would give him that permission. He had learned not to touch long ago...now though, his eyes reflected Amirinth's green color.

Many sets had passed amongst her harper companions, Inolyn often talking to them as they rested and enjoyed themselves. They had discussed which song they would be getting the newly Impressed harper to sing as her grand finale to her harpering days, but it was always a song that they had already sung, seemed too common or didn't do her voice justice. They were starting to loose hope that she would get up and sing. To think that if she hadn't been searched Inolyn would have been here anyway. "How about that new one? I know it was written as a wedding ballad but don't you think it still fits the occasion?" Inolyn had only been over the ballad a few times, and it seemed as if the feast was winding down so many no one would notice it was rough. After taking a minute to assign instrumental parts She was pulled up to center stage. Some of these people may not even recognize her out of her white candidate robes as the newest Violet rider... As soon as Inolyn opened her mouth the purest voice erupted into the hall, in a suttle sort of way. It was only the opening afterall... There may not be an answer to this tune Why the sky is blue Is the change in me all true? Now that you are next to me I have no fears And all I know is that I want to be with you Sometimes it's easy to Forget the times we weep The moment makes us weak And all the shame I seek Memories exist for all the precious days my heart still wants to keep Somewhere deep inside of me
A lullaby for you Stars will always gracefully watch over 'till it's bright May tomorrow be wonderful too Take my hands and promise me That we'll be all right Finding a place to feel at home You are not alone...
Inolyn took her bow when the song was finally over and returned to her seat. That had been a rather well proformance...
